When Chris Saeltzer first started at the job site, he showed up on time and worked on the projects he told me he could do. He assured me that he could get everything done within a month or two and not to worry. The problem began when he kept asking for more and more money, and some days not even showing up for work. He would always have some kind of excuse or a reason he was not able to come but after a while it was becoming a problem. He was not able to finish one project completely and move on to the next project. Everything he did for me in the house was left half done and unfinished. After he stopped showing up (even though I foolishly paid him most of the money he asked for) it took me about 2 weeks to basically finish everything that he assured me he would get done. Below I have listed some of his projects he left incomplete or inadequate: Bathroom remodel: didn't completely caulk what was needed and left most of the new tiles dirty with left over grout. the vanity was also leaking excessively. Didn't finish the painting that he said he would do ( lots of touch ups and painting the door). Many of the tiles are uneven and a lot of the grout has already cracked. He has done nothing to try and fix it. Kitchen remodel: he removed the old cabinets and put up new cabinets and backsplash. He didn't clean the grout on the backsplash after finishing and it just dried on the tile and all over the cabinets. I had to spend two days diligently scraping the left over haze on the tile and cabinets off to make it look presentable. For the brand new cabinets I had to sand off a lot of the grout and even restain the surface to make them look somewhat new again. He also repainted the baseboards around the kitchen and the kitchen walls. But when he painted the baseboards, he didn't bother to sand the rough spots down or caulk any of the gaps, he just painted them white and they looked horrible. It took me a half hour to just sand what needed to be sanded and filled in the gaps and holes with some caulk and repaint, and now they look beautiful. He also installed the faucet and plumbing for it, but all the pipes were loose and it was even leaking water. Did he not check this out first? He also had in the price to replace a window that was broken in the kitchen. I am still waiting for that window to come and it's been almost a year. He told me they messed up the measurements and he had to have them redo it. He replaced the glass on the window though but the glass has some tape stuck to it on the inside and now it's not able to be cleaned because its inside the window, just taunting me. Where is the new window? Also when he grouted, he left a lot of the grout on the outlets and GFI's, which I had to replace because they were not able to be cleaned. Painting: He said he would put two coats on, but none of the rooms he painted looked like there were two coats at all. I don't even think I had enough paint to use two coats and he never had to ask me to buy more. I had to go back and repaint everything. Throughout the house there were at least 50 to 100 spots where the area was not painted. He also painted the outside porch for me but didn't bother to sand it a little before he painted, and now after a year it's already peeling off. He also didn't even bother to paint inside the closet on the second floor because there was wallpaper in it, which he said prior to taking the job that all the wallpaper removal was included. He didn't fill in many holes that were previously in the walls, so I had to go back and fill them all in and repaint those areas as well. He was also to paint the bathroom in the basement but still hasn't touched that. There were many more things that he either ignored doing or didn't do satisfactorily. Overall, hiring him was the worst decision I have ever made and would never hire him again. I've worked with many other contractors and he was the worst. His lack of attention to detail and lack of care makes him very unreliable and hard to trust. I feel like anything he did will just fall apart within a year. It is also almost a year since I hired him and he still has not finished what he said he would finish. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
