to work with.that the The project went well. Good Sense did an energy survey of our home.  They provided us with a detailed report of the problems they found. It confirmed much of what we knew. After we had insulation installed they returned to verify that the job would meet the safety and energy saving requirements for the Gas company to provide our government energy rebate. There were a few problems found and they contacted the installer to make the necessary adjustments. Those were completed and they returned to check that the repairs were satisfactory. We were provided with the completed survey and applied for the rebate. We had a choice at completion we could either receive the $50.00 as a refund or we could use it to purchase a CO Detector from them. We elected to purchase the detector.
The complete experience was very professional and the inspectors were great.

They came on behalf of the gas company. I had to pay in advance. They were very punctual and very thorough. They explained what they were doing. They told me it would take about 3 hours and it really did. They did the infrared camera inside and outside. They did the basement, main floor, second floor and attic. Then they filled out, printed and bound a little booklet that told everything they did and the results. They gave me a list of contractors to prefer work they recommended. The interaction they did was very good. They were working in conjunction with a contractor who installed a new furnace and there was a rebate connected to it.

I called and was given a first available appointment. Brian called prior to the appointment to confirm, and he arrived promptly on that date. He worked diligently through all the steps of the audit, taking time to explain what he was doing. Overall I believe the entire audit took approximately 3 hours, which was in the ballpark of the original time estimate he had provided in his call to confirm the appointment. In all his time checking different aspects of the house and discussing my concerns, I don't recall him writing anything down. At the end of the audit, he took a few minutes to put together a detailed written report, which included his observations compared to recommended values and savings that could result from specific improvements. He didn't leave out anything that we had discussed. I was impressed with both his knowledge and his professionalism. I was surprised to learn that what I was told was very good insulation in the attic was actually well below recommended values and installed improperly as well. Needless to say, I wish I could have had Brian complete my home inspection prior to purchasing my house! His report included recommendations for improving my home's energy efficiency, broken down to high and low priority improvements. He thoroughly explained Dominion East Ohio's rebate program and provided a list of approved contractors to complete any or all of the work he suggested. He advised I could do some of
it myself and submit proof for the applicable rebates. All in all, I was left with a lot of good information, a list of contractors I felt comfortable having complete the work and an understanding of steps I needed to take to obtain my rebates.

I waited a while to get the recommended work completed, using one of the contractors from the approved list that Brian stated he had worked with many times. I was also very pleased with their work and professionalism (Energy Smart Insulation). After the work was done, I received a call back from Good Cents to schedule a test out appointment. I was given a convenient date and time for my appointment. Sean called me to confirm and arrived promptly on the appointment date and time. He was very courteous and professional, completing all his checks and tests. He wrote up his results and explained all findings. He explained the final steps in the process for obtaining my rebates.

All in all, I had an extremely positive experience with everyone I worked with at Good Cents. I picked them because they only do the testing and provide recommendations for improvements. There is no hard sell of specific work to be done, everything is explained and put into my hands to decide whether it was the right improvement for me. I have recommended them to several friends and co-workers looking to improve the comfort of their homes.

Fantastic. Jim and John are very knowledgeable and hard working. They were fun to talk with (good thing, since the audit takes up to four hours) and very neat. They wore shoe covers or slippers and were very respectful of my home, even asking for permission before they ventured into any room or needed to open a door. I am planning to recommend this GoodCents audit to EVERYONE I know who has Dominion. Plus I will get a $20 gift card for everyone I refer once they follow through with the audit. To top it all off, if I use one of their listed contractors to perform any of the recommended work (such as insulating the walls), they will come back, inspect the job (even repeat the original tests) and act as my advocate if any of the work was not performed correctly. Since they are a third party with no vested interest in selling you a product or service, their advice is completely valid and reliable. What more could I ask for? Mike was very thorough! He was at our home for approx. 3 hours. We certainly got our moneys worth. Mike was very knowledgeable throughout the whole inspection/audit. He showed and explained everything as he let me tag along watching everything that he did.He was very nice and explained everything at a level I would understand. Couldn't have been more pleased!

Following recent install of new high efficiency furnace and new A/C, furnace contractor recommended this energy assessment, which would result in my receiving a number of free water and energy saving devices, free carbon monoxide detector, and also a and quot;rebateand quot; amounting likely to over $400. Furnace contractor submitted info on old and new furnace to and quot;Good Centsand quot; electronically; I then called for an appointment. First available open date was approx one month after I phoned, Dec 6th. I was informed the procedure would take approx 4 hours and was offered my choice of morning or afternoon. My credit card would be charged $50. Good Cents technician arrived about 15 minutes early. He crawled all through my difficult access attic, checked and tested all appliances, offered and installed FREE water saving faucet aereators and shower heads, gave me a free quality plug in carbon monoxide detector with battery backup, battery included. He performed numerous tests and examinations. Pointed out things to me, explained everything carefully and clearly, left me with a printed report. Told me I have qualified for a $430 rebate, which I should receive in 4-6 weeks. He pointed out some problems I had not been aware of, and that I will definitely want to have addressed by independent professionals, as well as some I can take care of myself. Entire procedure took about 4 hrs 15 mins., and was much more than worth it !

Kevin showed up ontime, spent a few hours with us, told us about what would give us the greatest return on our investment (for us, insulation would be better than new windows), sealed up cracks in the basement that were letting in cold air, and took the time to answer all of our questions.
Later, after we had the insulation work done, a new Good Cents worker checked out the house and was similarly punctual and helpful.

They did an excellent job.

It went extrremely well. He was prompt, thorough, always asked if I had any questions. He answered all my questions and repeated things for me to write down information I needed for afterwards. He was very considerate in keeping my house neat and clean. Would recommend Good Cents to everyone I know.

The process was a very positive one. GoodCents does the audit, you choose companies to perform the work from a list of companies approved by Dominion, and then GoodCents comes back to re-measure the energy efficiency after they complete the work. While this has been a warm winter, we find our energy costs are definitely lower, but more important, areas that were drafty in the past - a sign of heat loss- are now comfortable. Further, we had our house air conditioned during this period and we wanted to be as energy wise as possible now that we are both heating and cooling.
I recommend them without hesitation.
