Upon waking in the morning, I discovered that some serious electrical issues had arisen during the night at my house.  Some lights and outlets seemed to work while others did not.  My sump pump acted strangely, the garage door wouldn't operate, the electric stove was inoperative, the refrigerator had quit working, and the air conditioner had quit.  I called Downey and was told that they could have someone to my house in about 1 to 2 hours.  A service technician showed up in about 90 minutes and quickly determined that I had lost one of the three power "legs" that fed electricity to the house.  He said that it was a power company issue and told me to contact my local electric utility.  I was told during my initial telephone call to Downey that there was a $100 charge to have someone show up.  The service technician told me, however, that the total diagnostic job took all of ten minutes and that his travel time was negligible because he actually had to drive right by my house on his way to his next job.  He told me that he would not be billing me for his service.  I was flabbergasted!  He gave me his card and said that if I wanted to compensate him for his efforts I should give them a call the next time I had an electrical issue.  His card now resides in my folder of preferred service providers.

They told me that the washer drain pan didn't need to have a drain pipe leading to the sump pump crock (which is what I wanted)they set it up so that it will drain into the crawl space instead.They have done other work for us such as installing a programmable thermostat and humidifier for our furnace,all went well with that.

The work went very well, they were responsive to the warranty company's request. In addition they reviewed the options for an upgraded unit outside. They were patient and explained the value of an upgrade to the current coolant requirements. They offered competitive pricing and were very responsive on the install during 100 degree days. Overall it was a positive experience.

Carrier recommended that I call Troy Mauder of Mauder Heating and Air. He quoted me a price of $ 850.00. I was very happy with his service.

If I have a problem or if I feel that they haven't done anything, they come right back. They are punctual. I'm still kind of negotiating with them regarding the price because we've had major stuff done by them. We've had well problems and water softeners, and so they're never cheap when they come out. We've never had minor but just major stuff.

They scheduled an appointment to see the job in only 3 days. They cashed my check in only 2days. It took 3 phone calls from me, and 25 days to receive a verbal estimate for the work (still waiting for a written one). The excuses ran the gauntlet, and i feel like my $99 was stolen. The icing on the cake? Their estimate was 3 times higher than another company quoted (free estimate)!!! If you are independently wealthy and can throw money away, this is the group for you.

This company has apologized and issued a full refund of my money. I have the owners assurances that he will do everything possible to clear up the communication issues his employees seemed to have, and met with me personally to express his regret.
