The contracted work included spray foam sealing in both the basement and the attic. In addition, insulation was added in both areas. Gerry did much of the work himself and when warranted, hired top notch sub-contractors to help him. Gerry, and his sub-contractor, welcomed my presence and my many questions. All the workers behaved like respectful guests in my home and the work site was always cleaned at the end of each day. This was a nice touch. I needed the work completed properly which was why I hired skilled professionals. Being neat and tidy was not a priority for me but it was an added bonus.
When all the work was complete, Gerry performed some final tests to make sure everything met his (and my) expectations. We noticed increased comfort and a reduction in the time our A/C unit ran. We'll see how the heating bills are this coming winter but my expectation is lower bills and increased comfort.
If timing and schedules are critical for a particular job, this should be discussed in detail and included in any contract. At times, particular tasks took longer than originally estimated. I attribute this to my insistence on the work being performed correctly and Gerry's attention to detail. Timing was not a critical factor on this job.
All in all a job well done.
