CBJ REMODELING AND INVESTMENTS

CBJ Remodeling caused extensive damage to the structure of our home! They butchered the joists that support the second floor above our kitchen in order to relocate plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. This was done despite the owner promising not to even remove the soffits if mechanicals were inside. I had to hire an engineer and a new contractor to make repairs. 15 joists had to be replaced in our home!
I have also had licensed contractors repair the plumbing, which was done incorrectly, the wiring, which was potentially hazardous, and the HVAC duct work which was compromised and did not provide adequate air flow to my second floor. Every bit of work that they did, had to be undone and repaired! All now has to be inspected by the city of Dublin.
CBJ Remodeling allows unlicensed and inexperienced employees to perform work. The owner assured us that no permits were needed to remodel our kitchen. This turned out to be false. Structural, HVAC, electrical work and plumbing was all done by the same two employees, one of them a son, and both in their 20's. The owner did not supervise, nor come to the work site a single time when work was being performed.
CBJ Remodeling promised to complete the job in 13 weeks and to have most of the preparation work done before we moved into the house. The two above mentioned employees were on the job site less than 5 half days in a period of 7 weeks! They would show up at random, and would not tell us when they would be coming to the house, despite efforts to contact them to find out. Once they had our money, they would not respond to phone calls and e-mails in a timely fashion. It would take at least a week for a response at times.
I filed a claim against CBJ Remodeling's insurance company and it was denied. Their company said that their insured was negligent and they would not cover for damages. CBJ refunded less than a third of our down payment, since work was not completed, but this doesn't even begin to cover the damage that they have incurred.
AVOID CBJ Remodeling at ALL costs! They are the nightmare contractors that you have heard about on the home improvement shows. It is real! If you have had work done by them, I encourage you to go back and have it inspected by your city inspectors or licensed contractors.
