Lockwood Doench & Daughter Remodeling

It took about 5 weeks and the house (a relatively small house) was in disarray but Lock and Quay managed the mess and the subcontractors and the results were wonderful and worth all the work-arounds. They are fine crafts people and very good problem solvers.

We were so impressed with Mr. Doench's work that we had him come back and screen in our patio.   The same excellent and

quality of work that he did when he replaced the patio cover.  Great company to work with as they go out of their

 way to make sure everything is done with an eye to even the smallest detail.  Cleaning up each day and making sure

you are completely happy with the finished job.

He came and inspected our situation.  We wanted to replace the metal patio cover with a wood structure.  He gave us his

recommendations, then took measurements.  We received several sets of drawings to take and get the permits.  The work

took approximately two weeks or so as we were trying to coordinate with Karl Mattes Co that was replacing the roof that

had been damaged in the same storm.  They were here early morning, cleaned up as they worked, attention to detail was

outstanding.  When work was complete they also put a coat of stain.  I would highly recommend to anyone wanting quality

workmanship.

Lockwood is truly a craftsman who does quality work without taking any short cuts. This is the second time that Lockwood and his daughter have done work for us and we can't say enough positive things about them and their work. When we first contacted him in 2010 about building a screen porch for us, he gave us several references from work he'd done in our area, and they also highly recommended him. He was very good about working with us on a design for the porch, taking into consideration our needs and price range. He always will offer his suggestions and advice when asked, but never imposes his ideas. We had a fairly simple porch in mind. He suggested a slight price increase to wrap the posts in cedar. We never would have thought of this on our own, and it has truly made the porch look fantastic. He had a couple of guys help him with the heavy work of tearing off the deck, pouring the footers and putting on the roof--but otherwise, he and his daughter did all of the work themselves. They are extremely considerate about communicating their schedule, organizing their supplies and equipment, and cleaning up at the end each day. They also love animals! We have a dog who was home all day with a dog door to the backyard, and they even built a special ramp for her to use between when they tore off the deck and built the porch, and made sure that she was safe throughout the day.
This Spring, Lockwood and Quay came back to stain the porch again. They also did several smaller jobs inside that we needed done to repair some drywalling, caulking, and water coming into the basement. We were completely impressed and satisfied with their work again this time. They will always be our first call when we need any repair or building work done.

We had two in person consults with the Doenches concerning measurements, materials, colors and styles. The actual work took about six days and involved no significant disruption of our lives. The results are solid, livable and great to look at.  The mantel, especially, is a piece de resistance. What was once a storage area is now an attractive and comfortable place to have fun.

Kitchen remodels can be rough; this one never got any worse than a nuisance and the result will be a pleaser for years.
