I went over to the establishment and told them that number one you have no contract with me to come and landscape my property without me being here or agreeing to what your service was. As far as the work that was done, it looked nice, they did a good job but they covered up the rocks instead of taking them out, they didn't give us extra mulch, they didn't give me the plants that we had asked for. So we made arrangements to have all of that corrected and I went ahead and paid him with the understanding that he would come back and fix everything. 9 months later we were still not complete. He had my money and did not complete the service adequately. I had to keep calling and asking where the plants were, when were they going to come get these? He did not bring me more mulch, he said it was too late now and he couldn't get it to match. He did not want to go back underneath to take out the rocks so he was going to charge me extra labor. It was horrible, it was a nightmare.
He came back out one last time and said here are your plants, we are done. 3 of them died. It was a horrible experience I would not recommend him to anyone.
His workers were clean and tidy and timely. The work that they did do was more than satisfactory but not perfect. But his lack of communication and to come and landscape someone's home without a signed contract and approval and then not bring it to what we had discussed is unacceptable. I felt like I had good intention and good integrity that I went ahead and paid him and trusted that he would take care of this matter and make it acceptable. And he never did.
I shouldn't have paid it but I thought, you know what they did do work and I have the plants in my ground and I would pay for their plants and the guys labor. I think that if I show good faith on my part, I appreciate the work that you did it is just not correct. If you would correct it and, he way over charged what he estimated. We had to sit there and go over the bill and make him deduct things that weren't there. He billed me for things that I didn't get. It was awful. It is still not right. I am still working on getting the dead plants out and getting the rock out. We're doing as much work as he did.
Reynolds Landscaping came up with a design that matched exactly what I was looking for and provided a quote the same day. The quote looked reasonable, but we had another vendor scheduled to give us a quote the following day. The second vendor's quote was $1,000.00 more than Reynolds and did include more plants in the design, but not what I asked for. Reynolds really listens to the client.
While Reynolds was here the first time, Mike mentioned that he could have his crew trim our trees while there are here. I changed one of the trees in the original design and added the tree trimming to the original quote and dropped it off at the landscaping center. We were told at the center that they had a couple of big jobs coming up and they would see what they could do about getting us on the schedule soon. The reason we gave them a B for responsiveness is that no one contacted us about scheduling the exact day for the work. They found a day they could fit us into their busy schedule and came to the house and began the work. Even so, we were stil pleased to have the work done earlier than expected. Nex time, we'll just communicate our expectations better.
As for the work, they cleared out an old overgrown patio bed that had plants, weeds, rock, and old edging. They put down new everything that we had agreed to. They trimmed two of the five trees. Reynolds stopped by a few days later. We told them that only two trees were trimmed. There was also a shrub that I thougth was too close to another shrub. I'm sure I was just being picky, but Mike smiled and politely agreed to have it "fixed." Mike had his crew come out a couple days later and trim the trees and move the shrub. That was one check we were pleased to write. I told them we would be coming back next year for the front of the house. We are very pleased with our landscaping.
