"Wall Anchors has been providing helical piers and helical underpinning since 1988, 30 years. The contract has always stated that the work performed is guaranteed against further movement of the foundation for the life of the structure. The main direction of the work is stated to stabilize the vertical settlement. As a secondary feature of the product, we will attempt to lift the structure as much as structural integrity will allow. Neither the website, salesperson, installers or management promises that any foundation will go back to its original position. If so, it would be stated in the contract, and it is not. Typically, the structure we are working on does lift back into place to a large degree. Again, there is no guarantee it will do so. In Mr. Tesars case it did not go fully back into place. It went back to a small degree but not nearly as far as needed. I am disappointed in the remarks left by Mr. [Member Name Removed] about the work we performed at his home. We worked tirelessly on his project. We installed the piers as required then lifted the structure to refusal. The chimney would not go back any further and was just lifting straight up. Lifting on the outside edge of the footing should rotate the chimney back. Possibly there was too much debris, wood, mortar etc. between the chimney and wood frame of the house. We let the piers down numerous times to clean the debris that could be reached, to no avail. We made any adjustment as we could. We also left pressure on the piers with our hydraulics for days hoping the pressure would pop the chimney back. We spent over a week, off and on for this project. Mr. [Member Name Removed] was involved all along. He was updated continually and we entertained all suggestions he had. We finally had to give him some options: we offered to leave the job open and he could get an engineer to calculate what could be done to make the piers work. We offered to pull both piers out, back-fill the job, fill in all holes, crack and crevices and put the property back to the state we found it. There would be no cost involved to him. We would call it a loss. The third option was to leave the piers in place. He would be financially liable for just one pier. He would still have the life of the structure guarantee on the job. We tried very hard to satisfy Mr. [Member Name Removed]. Mr. [Member Name Removed] opted to keep the piering in place with the guarantee. He would have to make the cosmetic adjustment to the look of the chimney. Placing a molding around the outside edge of the brick would dress it up and make the chimney look presentable. I believe we went way beyond our call of duty to make the best of a bad situation. Again, I am truly disappointed. We should have insisted that we just walk away. My conscience is clear that we did the right thing, the chimney is no longer a safety issue."
