Highly unprofessional. Refused to provide me with service.

Excellent! Very good experience from first phone call, to the diagnosis and estimate, to the finished and highly professional job. The young man who led the actual work, Kent, was very personable and knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge and apply to it my own plumbing situation as well as some information on the history of domestic plumbing. I thought, "Wow! This young guy could teach a university course on the the history and practice of plumbing and I would sign up for the whole two-year course!". I feel very confident in the work and that I can go go forward in this new (1941) house with some confidence about the plumbing and that I have a company to rely on in the future!

I have an old boiler. All, I needed was water added to my system. But most of the companies out there don't want to do that as there isn't any money in it. Companies would come out and take one look at my boiler and say," You have to replace that." I was like "No." To make a long story short another company had taken my burner apart and left it in pieces on my basement floor. After dismantling my burner they then said I needed a new boiler. That's when I found G. W Gill Plumbing and Heating. They came by and was able to piece together my burner and then they added water. Viola I have heat.
The did say I would eventually need to buy a new boiler. Not because my old boiler won't work but because the new systems are more efficient and safer.

Not sure why my money isn't worth the effort, nor what sorts of people they've dealt with in the past, but it's pretty irritating to be "fired" based on not still living in my house. Especially since I was specifically looking for someone with experience dealing with old steam systems. What's more, the response wasn't even polite, and when I'm out trying to spend what was likely a fair chunk of money, I don't like being treated like some kind of swindler or degenerate. Oh, and it's a duplex house, and the co-owner lives on the other side, so it's not like nobody with an interest in the property was around -- but he didn't bother to ask about that, and I wasn't about to beg to give them my business. In the end, I guess if you don't want my money, fine. But if I missed out on good work at a decent price (which, based on other reviews, I might well have) for such an irrelevant reason, that makes me upset. And, of course, when you blow off a willing customer, a bad Angie's List review ought to be expected.

The heat in the house is now evenly distributed for the first time. They looked at and fixed things in our system that no one else has ever even mentioned. If you have steam heat and radiators, you want these guys, not the typical heating and A/C people.

We came back from visiting family over the holidays to discover that the pilot light on our boiler had gone out and the house was freezing! I tried relighting it several times, but to no avail. We still had a home warranty from purchasing our house, so we tried going through that service first. However, none of the companies could come out that day and it was below freezing outside. We decided to call G.W. Gill because they had worked on our furnace before and were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They sent someone out to our house within a couple of hours. I had to plow the driveway so that he could get in and the weather was terrible. The gentleman (forgot his name) fixed the pliot and even spoke to our home warranty people over the phone so that they would cover it for us.

I have used Gerry for several years now. He is very reliable and knowledgable in his field of work. He is the best plumber I have ever come across. He has worked for me for several years now.

Called Gerry and made an appointment to get my boiler serviced and cleaned. He arrived on time and stated right to work. He was very knowledgeable and thoroughly serviced and flushed out the boiler. He even changed the battery in the thermostat.
Gerry also checked a radiator and gave me some suggestions on where to pick up a new one because of its condition,
I would definitely use again!

When it was time to replace the boiler in my home, I did a lot of research on the available options and contractors in the area. As you might expect, there is a lot of variance in the quality amongst different contractors. After talking to a lot of the local experts, one name kept coming up--Gerry Gill. He is highly regarded in the Cleveland area for his work. He is in high demand, and I even waited an extra few weeks in order to use him as opposed to another contractor.
The new boiler has been outstanding. The house heats more evenly, the new system is more quiet, and my gas bills are a fraction of what they used to be.
Aside from the outstanding results, Gerry is a super nice guy and fun to talk to--he seems to know everything about steam heat.

He is wonderful, trustworthy and kind. He is reliable. We like him a lot, our experience was wonderful.

Gerry and his team are amazing plumbers: courteous, punctual, knowledgeable, and professional. They've come out to our current and previous residences on numerous occasions. Their prices are reasonable, and they are all able to tackle difficult plumbing jobs in these old Shaker houses. I trust them and their work and wouldn't want any other plumbers!

This was by far the best experience we have had in regards to home service calls. It is refreshing to call on someone who actually knows entirely what they are doing. This was a terrific job from start to finish. I requested the quotation in Sep 2010. Within a couple of days, Gerry was at my house to evaluate the system, and after a couple of back and forth communications he provided the final quotation. Because of travel, I asked that the installation be scheduled for Nov 2010. A date was set, and I paid 1/3 of the total cost at that time. A few days prior to the scheduled date, he called to remind me that he was ready to perform the installation on the date schedued.

Gerry and his crew of 3 arrived first thing on the scheduled day and got right to work. They worked the entire day, and were able to remove the old boiler and install the new one and get it functioning. Although they still had work to do on the following days, they were able to get the new boiler working on the first day so that I was not without heat that night. Their professionalism and competence were impressive. They had all the tools and materials to perform the job in a professional and timely manner. I paid another 1/3 of the cost at the time of installation.

After the installation they returned a couple of times in the first month to perform skimming of the boiler (necessary to get manufacturing oils out of the water), and check for proper operation of the system. When they completed this, I paid the final 1/3 of the bill.

I would highly recommend Gerry Gill to anyone owning an older home that has hydronic heating (steam or hot water). He knows these systems inside and out and both he and his crew do excellent work. He has a great website where you can see numerous photographs of installations he has done.

Gerry diagnosed and resolved issues that multiple other engineers were clueless about. Our insurance company rep and contractor were also present and were stunned at Gerry's level of expertise and the education he provided them with. If you have steam heat and need a steam heat guru - call Gerry.

Gerry was able to quickly sort out the issues with my system. While he noted several things that were not optimalyl plumbed coming out of the boiler, he was also quick to note that it wasn't something that had to be fixed right away. I was very pleased with the service and found him to be very knowledgeable about the old steam systems. I plan to have him come back over to fix some plumbing items unrelated to the steam heat issue.
