Sweat Brothers was recommended to us by a number of people as a low cost alternative for tree removal.  I called Ed in February to tell him I needed a quote to remove two trees. After a couple of back and forth phone calls, he called me with the price of $3800 which seemed reasonable for two trees.  We agreed verbally that he would take them down.  At no point was I presented with or asked to sign a contract, though I expected this to occur before they actually did the work.

Because it was winter, no date was established for Sweat Brothers to come, instead the tree removal would take place on a suitable day. I recall receiving a phone call maybe the day before they were going to take the trees down. I had still not received any sort of paperwork and had only the verbal estimate of $3800. I do recall confirming over the phone that day that they were indeed insured. During that week the tree came down we were going through some significant crisis in our lives (death of a parent and moving out of our house and into a hotel because of some serious remodeling challenges in our new house) and I was not as diligent as I should have been in following up regarding a written agreement.

Sweat Brothers took down the trees over the course of two days in mid March. I was living in a hotel at the time as home renovations were going on. When I arrived the afternoon of the first day, my home remodeling contractor alerted me that Sweat Brother’s crane was "doing a number" on my driveway. At the time I wasn’t too concerned because of everything else that was happening in my world and I brushed it off, stating we would most likely be replacing the driveway anyway. I had no idea that the damage would be so extensive once the crane was no longer sitting on it.

My contractor also informed me a branch had been dropped on my roof and that a roofer called by Sweat Brothers had come to repair the hole. As home owner, I can’t believe I wasn't alerted to something like this before a repair person was called and invited onto my roof

When Sweat Brothers cleared out, the two trees had been removed as requested, but I was left with a driveway crushed in four areas by their crane, an unauthorized repair to my roof and a dozen huge divots in my backyard, some of which were 6 feet long and one foot deep, caused by falling large branches.

As the trauma in my life subsided, I was able to step back from this experience and realize just how bad it had been:

As the trauma in my life subsided, I was able to step back from this experience and realize just how bad it had been:
- I was never presented with any sort of contract/ agreement. Only after I received the bill (see #3 below), which states “company not liable for structural damage to pavement caused by trucks and/or machinery” was I alerted to the fact that I would be on my own for replacing the sections of my driveway that were crushed.
 - I can’t believe Mr Pivcevich had the gall to bring another contractor onto our property to make an unauthorized repair to our roof.
 - I did not receive a bill for this work until May 9, when Sweat Brothers removed a tree from my neighbor’s yard. Mr Pivcevich came to my door at dinner time and presented me with the bill, stating he didn’t mail it previously because he didn’t have my address (how could he not have my address, he spent two days at my house?)
 - The kicker to all of this: Mr Pivcevich’s bill states he is an 'Ohio Certified Arborist’ and the bill also has three unreadable (blurry) logos with trees and leaves on them for what appear to be professional societies. I called the Ohio Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture to see if any ethics violations had been filed against him or his company. You can imagine my surprise when they stated he is not an Ohio Certified Arborist and in fact they encouraged me to file an ethics violation report with the International Society of Arboriculture against him for falsely putting himself out as one.

I got the quote later in the fall and when we finally got on the schedule, of course it snowed so things got pushed back a bit.  I called Ed a few times to finally get on his schedule right after Thanksgiving.  They did excellent work!  The main tree was down and gone in about 90 minutes.  They did a nice job cleaning up as well. As most reviewers stated, Sweat Brothers are very competitive on pricing and now I can say they are very good at their craft as well.

Loved the price, loved the work.
When I have a tree issues, I ALWAYS call on Sweat brothers first. As a certified arborist, he knows his stuff.

A tree in our backyard was uprooted due to Super Storm Sandy and landed on another tree right next to the house which saved it from damaging the house, This company was recommended to us by two different people who had used them before and Angie's List. They came out in November and gave us an estimate. There is very limited access to our backyard but they agreed to do it.. We had to wait about three weeks for them to do the job due to the high volume of trees downed in our area by the storm. They called and gave us a date and just the two of them came with the crane truck. They were able to extend the boom over the house to remove the top of the uprooted tree and used it to stabilize the rest of the tree as they cut it down. They also cut down large limbs off of two other trees, one that was overhanging the house and the other that was hanging low to the ground. They did a very nice job on trimming up the tree that was overhanging the house as other limbs had been cut off previously and it really needed shaping. They left wood cut to fit in our fireplace as requested and used the chipper on the rest. They did all this in approximately four and a half hours.
We were impressed on how quickly and professionally they took care of business. We would use Sweat Brothers again and would definitely recommend them to others.

We were VERY impressed with our quote! The price was great! During the time they were removing the tree, I asked if they could remove two small fruit trees and I was willing to pay extra. To my amazement, he removed the trees and did not charge anything extra. Additionally, he offered to remove the stump grindings and I assumed we would pay a little extra for this, but again, there was no additional charge. I was extremely impressed with this company. Their clean-up was also very good as well. I would highly recommend this company.

We called a few times to make sure they were coming, but when they finally arrived, they did a great job. They are much more affordable than other competitors we called. They cleaned up the site and asked for our input when needed.

They work is good and the cost is very reasonable. When I called they were prompt to respond with an estimate. Ed let me know that it would be a bit until they could get to the job. The other companies I contacted did not even come out for an estimate. One gave me an estimate and never showed after repeated calls. I would highly recommend Sweat Brothers for good service and they have great value.
