MONRO MUFFLER BRAKE & SVC

My wife brought her 2003 Nissan Murano to have a cracked flange connection in the exhaust system repaired. We requested that the cracked connection be repaired using a flange repair kit from FX Exhaust. Dan, the Service Manager, contacted me at work to tell me that they could not use the flange repair kit because the extension pipe leading up to the flange connection was too corroded and they needed to fabricate a new piece of pipe. He quoted me ~$200 to replace an unspecificed section of the extension pipe with a custom bent pipe and welding the assembly together. Foolishly, I agreed to the repair over the telephone.

When my wife picked up the car later in the day, the cracked flanged assembly had been removed and a 2-1/2 inch piece of straight exhaust pipe had been welded in to replace it. Based on the actual repair, I don't see why the FX Exhaust flange repair kit couldn't be used. I believe I was deceived as to the extent of the necessary repairs and overcharged for the work actually done.
