We got 3 estimates from area installers. Northport was, by far, the most professional. We got a all inclusive estimate showing exactly what we would be paying for materials and labor. The other two installers just wrote a total amount on a scrap of paper. Northport was very thorough in their measurements, using a laser measuring tool and producing a detailed sketch of the areas involved. The other two simply did rough measurements and sketches. Northport was the most expensive of the 3 estimates (by a few hundred dollars) but we were willing to spend the extra due to the professionalism they had shown. It took a couple of weeks for the store to get the flooring in stock but, once they had it, it was delivered to our home the next day with the installers scheduled for the day after that. The installers arrived on time and took two days to finish the job. We had made their job easier by doing all the prep work. They even thanked us for having everything ready for them:-). They were very thorough in giving us a very professional installation. During installation I noted a couple of planks that were imperfect and they "back-tracked" the installation to those areas to replace them. This style of flooring simply snaps together (with no glue) so it was relatively easy to do. The downside to this was that, given the precise measurements they had done, we ended up with no full planks left over in case we needed to replace a damaged plank in the future. The "extra" planks were used during the installation to replace the damaged ones. Overall, we are happy with the end result. Our floors look great. We had never done a major job like this in the 45 yrs since we built our house and the professionalism of Northport Flooring made it relatively painless.

Top-Notch service. Sales staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to get everything installed ahead of schedule. Carpet looks great. We worked with Gwen, she was fantastic.

I went to the Northport store and worked with a wonderful consultant.  She showed me samples of the types of floors I was interested in, and then she brought the samples to my house and measured the rooms I was considering.  A few days later, she sent a quote with several options (we were also considering carpeting).  When we decided what we wanted, we placed the order. I felt that the prices were pretty high for low-end laminate, but I was really impressed with the service and responsiveness, so we went with Northport in the end.
The flooring arrived a couple of weeks later and was installed by a single contractor.  It took him 2 days to do all 3 rooms.  He did a wonderful job - he even repaired some damaged shoe molding in other rooms of our house at no extra charge.  He was very courteous and very careful to clean up after himself.  His installation was top-notch, especially when compared with existing laminate in our house.
The floors have been in for over a year now, and we've been very pleased with them.  We've had no issues at all.  My mother in law recently had them install carpet in her house, and it looks great as well.  I'd definitely go to Northport for future flooring needs!

The kitchen flooring went very well and on time, with one excellent installer. 
The carpeting installers had a bit of trouble with moving the furniture.  They did an excellent job with the actual carpet installation.

Salesperson came to house to measure.  She was on time and professional.  The took a 50% payment at the time I ordered it an indicated it would be 7-10 days before the carpet would arrive and installation would be scheduled.  Nine days later they called to indicate the carpet was in and could install it that week.  

The installers arrived on time and were very polite and professional.   The moved my extremely heavy and difficult to manage mattress (latex that folds and bends easily).   They disassembled the bed frame and headboard.  The removed all the old carpet and padding and confirmed there were no problems with the floor,  letting me know everything was in good shape.  

 They did an excellent job installing the new carpet and re-assembled the bed.    

Before they finished, the installer noticed a wrinkle in the carpet in my living room which was not part of the job area,  he asked if Northport installed it and said he'd fix it if they did.     I thought that showed great customer service but what really suprised me, was when I said it was installed before I moved in,  he proceeded to fix it anyway.  

Before they left,  not only did they clean up the job area, they swept most of my house!!!  What I thought was great service turned out be awesome service. 

I'll recommend them to everyone who needs carpet.

Someone from the store came out to look at the job and gave us an estimate. We wanted the flooring installed on the landing to match the rest of the house. I was told it would and the job was no problem for them. I was also very clear that the trim along the treads had to be replaced and even took a sample of the old trim into the store before the job was done so they could match it. They were to do all the work while we were gone. I also arranged for our painter to come in and paint the risers before the work was done. We got back and the work was very poorly done. The stain was slopped and dripped all over the white trim and risers. The flooring they put down was not completed and did not match the existing flooring. The trim was not installed. They had oak molding to go around the the cherry flooring they installed on the landing. Nail and staple hole were not filled. The remaining flooring pieces were left in our living room. I called and set up time for everyone involved to come out so they could see the work and we could get it corrected. The sub who did the stain work and sales person came but the person from Northport never showed up - I was later told he had it for the wrong day. Possible, but he never called to follow up, either. The sub defended his work and said he was not told to fill the holes and risers were scuffed up anyway. (They had just been painted.) He said he didn't fill the holes because he was told more carpet was going down and then he said he didn't have cherry colored filler in his truck that day. The problem with the floor installation we figured out was that they didn't vary the tones of boards. They were put down in a dark, medium, light sequence. We also found out it was another sub who put in the flooring. No one seemed to know why the quarter round trim was not installed or why it was oak. No one seemed to know anything about the trim for under the tread either, even though I took a piece into the store. We resolved it that they would have a painter come out and touch up the paint where it stained. And the flooring would be reinstalled, which means some of the board would be moved. They were also supposed to put the trim under the treads as we discussed. The painter came out and the stains and drips were corrected. I got a call about the trim and was told they had pine they were going to stain to match and that the sub who did the staining said it would be fine. At this point I figured if this job was ever going to get done I just had to take control.They obviously didn't care about quality either. I went out and got cherry trim and took it to the store for them to stain. This cost me an additional $150.00. They never reimbursed me or took it off the final cost of job. Then I had to wait for the flooring guy to come out. After hearing nothing from them for two weeks I called my credit card company and had the charges reversed. I got a call with in a few day to schedule a time for them to come out and correct it. This was the first time anyone from Northport called me. He didn't apologize. He didn't address the problems at all. I had to mention the quarter round trim and reminded them they had oak, which wouldn't work. He didn't seem to know anything about it. The flooring person came out completed the work. They moved the boards around, put in the quarter round trim and trim around the treads. The nail treads are filled so they look better. The white trim needs to be touched up where they installed the quarter round the the wall was nicked as well. We have settled up with them. I was not given any refund for my time or extra expense.

I contacted several flooring stores and Northport was by far the easiest with which to work and had the best price. As we were not living in the house at the time, they were quite flexible with arranging times to come and do the work. Patty was quite helpful during the entire project. The installers did an excellent job of laying the new floor and putting the new baseboards in place. The floors look great and we are quite happy with what they did.

Purchasing the carpet was fairly easy; however, the installation did not go smoothly. They were 1.5 hours late; the one guy was on his cell phone quite a bit at the beginning; they tracked mud onto my living room carpet which was not being replaced; they tracked mud or grease onto newly laid carpet in one of the bedrooms; they significantly scratched a bedroom door frame which I had to repaint; the stairway had a lot of debris including old carpet fibers, nails and screws, which I ended up having to vacuum; they left grease or oil on the closet doors of both bedrooms which I had difficulty washing off; I never received any carpet warranty documents; I never received a receipt for the last payment of $761; the total price of the job was $300 more than the top end of the estimate.

At the store Gary was very helpful in picking out the type of carpeting that would be best. He showed me many samples and spent time explaining the different types and how they would hold up. I have a dog and cats. He sent me home with samples. The gentleman who came out to measure came at the arranged time and was also helpful answering questions. The installers (2) came on time also and did an excellent time. The work was very quickly done. I love my new carpet. It looks wonderful.

They were professional, timely and courteous and came out the next day. They did a good job cleaning up after themselves.

I couldn't be more pleased! I arranged a meeting with Harold at his store to pick out carpet. I wanted something durable, but didn't want to break the bank. Harold worked with me and gave me a GREAT deal! A week later, 3 installers arrived right on time and they started right in! They worked fast, but they did not compromise quality. They were all very professional, very thorough, very courteous, very tidy and very very good at what they do! I can't get over what a difference it has made in the looks of the house! It's beautiful!! I would definitely recommend Northport for carpet and installation!

Linda, the person at the store, was very patient and helpful as we tried to choose carpet. I took her photos of the stairs, and she decided how the carpet should be installed to enhance the look of the stairs. The installers were polite and cleaned up after their work. We were very pleased over all, and we will return to Northport the next time we need carpet or flooring.

THE SALES PERSON WAS VERY PATIENT AND HELPFUL. HE WAS ABLE TO ANSWER EVERY ONE OF OUR NUMEROUS QUESTIONS. HE ENCOURAGED US TO TAKE SAMPLES HOME TO VIEW IN OUR HOME, EVEN THOUGH WE THOUGHT WE DIDN''T NEED TO (WE WERE WRONG). AND BECAUSE WE TOOK HIS ADVICE, TAKING HOME MULTIPLE SAMPLES A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES, WE WERE ABLE TO FIND WHAT WORKED PERFECTLY FOR OUR ROOM.

ORIGINALLY I HAD REQUESTED AN ESTIMATE FOR WOOD FLOORING, BUT THROUGH GOOD RESEARCH FROM THE SALESPERSON, IT WAS LEARNED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE PRODUCT WITH THE EXISTING SUB-FLOOR. RELUCTANTLY, I DECIDED ON A ''WOOD-LOOK'' LAMINATE. THEY HAD A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS AND MANY, MANY DIFFERENT PRODUCTS FROM WHICH TO CHOOSE -- INCLUDING QUITE A NUMBER OF PRODUCTS NOT AVAILABLE FROM THE LOCAL HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE (OR A LEAST NOT ON DISPLAY SO ONE WOULD KNOW IT WAS AVAILABLE IF YOU WANTED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE). THE SALESPERSON WAS VERY PATIENT AS I TOOK HOME SAMPLE AFTER SAMPLE UNTIL MAKING A DECISION. BY THE WAY, I LOVE THE NEW FLOOR -- AND THIS IS FROM SOMEONE WHO ONCE SWORE SHE''D NEVER HAVE THAT ''JUNK'' IN HER HOUSE.
