It doesn't look like he has steady help. One guy went to sleep under a tree, and another fell asleep in the corner of the garage. He put a hardener in the concrete so he wouldn't have to wait for it to set up, which caused it to set up too fast.
UPDATE: I am answering in the same order of his response. The following is a redirect to his response of 10/28/2013 I found it hard to believe that Mr. Giovanini would make such ridiculous responses to my complaints. Mr Giovanini states he did the job to my specifications. He raised the drive because he wanted to, not because I wanted it. Had he stayed on this job he would have remembered the details. He states the garage floor was too low, he made it too low by raising the drive, that was not to my specification. He also states that he could not get a tool in back of the pipes to finish the area properly. He does not know what kind of tools to use? he has been doing concrete work since 1997???? As far as the concrete dust, He left the garage door open while he sawed the drive, every thing was covered with dust and still is, he could care less about damages. The company that delivers concrete to the job site gives the 2 copies of the receipt to the contractor, Giovanini keeps one and the customer is supposed to receive the other one, why did Mr Giovanini not give me my copy of the receipt.??? Why was the garage floor going to crack if you did not saw it???? Mr Giovanini is saying anything to get this complaint off his shoulders. He says my concrete was cracked and broken all over. On 5/2/2006 @ 12:23 PM A tree co. had a very large tree removal crane over the area causing the concrete to crack over al small area. Yes I have dated, time stamped pictures to back up my statements. In any even if the concrete was not cracked or broken why in the world would I want to replace it??????? Mr Giovanini should get to the point and not play games on trying to finds something other then himself to place the blame. I know quite a lot about concrete I worked for a contractor for a number of years. I defiantly said he is not to saw the garage floor, but not because of electronic equipment ( there are 3 or 4 old, outdated, used TV monitors ) but because there was no reason for it if the concrete was mixed properly. The Fall that he insisted on for the driveway was directing the water into my neighbors yard. I wanted the water to run out to the street like my previous drive did. 1. Of course you will find tree roots under foundations, were there are trees you will find roots in drain pipes, under patios under driveways, side walks and streets and even sewers, this is not something new, this is to be expected. Proof of the damages in garage can be easily seen with the naked eye.Again, it is not unusual to find roots in foundations of garages.I had the damaged seal board on the left side of the garage replaced. I expect to be reimbursed. Likely occurrence for cement or mud to be splashed on the inside of the wall and the inside of the open garage door??The damaged awning at the rear of the house, made by his bobcat machine, can be easily seen. They did not clean the siding on the house that was splashed with cement and mud. There are still dried spots of cement on the siding and the vinyl trim on the windows. You will have to show me were I held back $200.00Fixing ruts made by his equipment on the devil strip and nowhere near the driveway is not landscaping that I should be responsible for.The garage door was open during the process, but in order for him to get his large equipment into the garage he propped the door open further with a pipe resulting in approximately 6 inches of the rubber seal being torn off the bottom of the garage door. They had not authority or permission to use my gallon container of Rotella 15 w40 oil. POOR WORKMANSHIP, LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL 1. The garage floor was not too low, he did not have to raise it, I have no idea as to his reasoning. After he raised the floor he told me he had to do that to get more drop for his drain pipe that he was running under the drive to the street. When I was able to get out of the house I put a line level from my garage floor to where the top of the drain begins, subtracting the difference even greater than he added to raising the garage floor, there was ample elevation for water to drip to the drain. And furthermore he did not address the issue of a lot of standing water (due to improper grading) in my garage under the electric panel. Very bad tooled edges on driveway. The job was finished on 7/16/2013 and as of yet there is not uniform color to the drive. The cracks in the garage floor have nothing to do with me not wanting him to saw the garage floor. The rest of his answer has nothing to do with the major cracks that have developed in the garage and drive.I stand by my complaint. Since my steps are now slanted there is more of a risk of slipping and falling off the steps when they are covered with snow or ice.The stoop at the side door is too high. I asked him to make the stoop the same height as the previous stoop. I am the one that uses the cane and I am the one who should determine the height of the stoop. Also his chalk line for concrete was 3 inches up on my glass block windows which meant part of my glass block windows were going to be covered. He put in $300.00 worth of fill for no reason. I absolutely did not want my driveway raised. And as I stated before it would have also covered part of my glass block window. The gaps between the house and expansion strips are between the concrete drive and side of the house and a portion of the back of the house. I don?t know what Mr Giovanini is talking about. If he is referring to my enclosed raised deck patio. I have 25+ year textured paneling enclosing the bottom area, some people choose to use slats. About 16 inches up on the panels I have handles to be able to remove them, I see no reason for him to even make a comment, here again I believe he was going to run the concrete up on the wall. There are different ways to get concrete level without having a chalk line on a wall. Mr Giovanini must have picked up the traffic cones and he never called, looks like he was in a hurry, too bad, I would have let him know what I thought about his work. I expect this to be resolved to my full satisfaction.
