Animal Boarding Kennels, Animal Grooming,

About us

Q: Describe the daily schedule my pet will have: A: We start early at Easdale with 6:30 exercise periods to go potty, then eat breakfast. Naturally, we follow your instructions if they are different from our regular routine. After breakfast dishes are collected, runs are cleaned, and water is refreshed, we start our office hours, bathing, and special activities such as Trail Walks, One on Ones, and Paw Paint Art Classes. Our guests have free access to individual exercise areas overlooking meadow and woods during the summer and are let out every 2-3 hours during colder weather to keep warm inside. All buildings are heated in cold weather with natural gas heat. After closing, we will start evening feeding, refresh waters, and clean again. In the evenings and during the night we have subdued lighting and play music, often classical NPR, to keep our guests calm and rested. Q: What sort of enrichment activities do your pets do? A: Easdale is unique in offering Trail Walks with Photo, PawPaint Art Classes, and One on One sessions. The One On One time can be tailored to your pet’s favorite activities such as hanging out at one of the many park benches we have for some petting, coat brushing, ball throwing, or special requests. Q: What are some of the reasons that pets are boarded: A: We board pets for many reasons, many of which you might not expect! Naturally, there can be nearly as many reasons as there are pets, but here are a few: *Travel for vacation or business *Work on the house such as refinishing the floors, pest exterminators, additions and repair of fire damage, workmen in the house *Houseguests who do not like the family pet or vice versa *Recently moved to Akron and still closing on the new home *Hospital stays for health or a new baby in the family

I was very happy with the way Nancy groomed my dog and will take him there from now on.

I couldn't be more satisfied. I originally took my dog to a "big box" pet store for his grooming and he came home all but shaved. In desperation I turned to Nancy at Easdale. She took the time to discuss my expectations and even showed me pictures of various haircuts available for him. For instance, I wanted a "teddy bear" face rather than a shaved pointed nose. Nancy was more than willing to make suggestions as well as listen to my concerns. And because I had waited a long time to get my dog's hair cut after the previous disaster, his fur was long and tangled. She promised not to shave him but instead worked diligently to get him looking his best. Additionally, when I asked about products for the red tear stains on his white facial fur she had a perfect solution. She gave me the website to order the product and that issue has been completely resolved. And this was after I had inquired at the vet's and the "big box" pet store and been told there were no such products on the market to help my dog. I was really impressed that she knew her trade well enough to recommend truly exceptional products which she didn't even sell herself! After a couple of years and two horrible boarding experiences elsewhere, I again turned to Nancy and was pleased to hear that she would be happy to accommodate my dog during our family's next trip away from home. I showed up with my dog and his food and she took it from there. Honestly, my dog has never felt or looked better after a week away than he has each time I've boarded him at Easdale. Instead of coming home and requiring an emergency visit to the vet and two weeks of antibiotics, my dog now comes home happy and healthy. And I am never afraid that he will get lost or hurt by the other animals there since he is kept in a secure environment. Also, the fact that my dog gets visibly excited when I tell him we are going to see "Miss Nancy" confirms for me that we have the right person to handle my dog's grooming and boarding needs.Overall, I would highly recommend Easdale for both grooming and boarding services. I have been a customer for 5 years now and plan to continue as long as my dog requires such services.

When I dropped the dogs off (2 labs and a spaniel) , there was old poop in their kennel from another dog. When we picked them up, we weren't allowed to "go past the fence" to the kennel near the woods. Our dogs got in the car and were like wild animals. Crazy eyes. When the dogs got home, they were severely dehydrated, and were crazy and pacing for about 2 hours. Our previously severely abused spaniel went to her crate and shivered like she hadn't done in years. Then they slept for hours. (My dogs have used kennels before, and always did great being boarded. We recently moved to the area, and chose it because it was close to our home). Something wasn't right here. We will never return.

"We give tours and take interested parties behind the scenes on request--come visit! This is really not a typical experience and I cannot account for these unusual conditions. When people "go past the fence" when all the dogs are exercising the barking can be a little much. We want our guests to be as calm as possible. Water is available at all times, day and night; perhaps we should have had water from their home? Some of our guests do that. I am posting some reviews from some of our long time customers. These are what we hear from our friends every day. I'll let them tell the story: “We bring our pet to Easdale because she loves it! We’d been to other boarding businesses before, but Tilki never came home happy – just tired and relieved to be home. But when we pick her up from Easdale, she’s her usual self. She’s happy, playful, and engaged. The extra activities like nature walks and (paw)painting, plus the attention of the caring Easdale staff, makes the difference. When I drop Tilki off to be boarded, I know she won’t be sitting around in her kennel with no interaction. I know she’ll be monitored, petted, visited, and entertained. And that gives me the peace of mind I need to relax and enjoy my vacation.” – Emily & Tilki (customer since 2008) Nancy does Ike’s grooming – he just loves “Miss Nancy!” When I pick him up from grooming he is always relaxed and happy – never nervous or hoarse from barking. The same thing was true after our boarding experience. Ike came home calm and relaxed – with his “barker” intact. It is so comforting to know how personally your dog is treated and with such loving care – we are thrilled! Thanks Nancy for taking care of our baby!” –Kelli and Ike (Customer since 2006) Dear Nancy and staff, Thank you once again for taking such good care of Satchel. Leaving him for two weeks is difficult, but knowing he’s in your good hands puts the mind at ease. Knowing that he’s comfortable, getting his medicine and safe allows my wife and I to enjoy ourselves when away, so thank you for that, too. We also appreciate your accessibility and patience when we call to check on Satchel, not to mention allowing my in-laws to visit him. For the nature walks and photos, the professionalism and compassion, and for delivering our beloved Satchel to us healthy and happy, thank you, thank you, thank you. Best regards, Skip and Satchel (Customer since 2007) Our Roscoe is a rescue, so I’m particularly protective when it comes to leaving him in someone else’s hands (and I’m embarrassingly, stupidly in love with this Jack Russell/Corgi mix mutt). The search was on: finding the right blend of location (within 15 minutes by car), competence, affordability and heart. A google search yielded nearby options, and researching websites led me to Easedale Best Pet Care in Bath, OH. What sold me was a testimonial from someone willing to drive 45 minutes to get here. Nancy Secrist, the owner, makes no secret of her love for dogs (and cats) – Airedales are her obsession. I liked that. The home-like facility is situated in quiet a wooded setting, and available pet activities make it a virtual doggy day camp, if you will. Our shaggy dog came out looking like a champ – literally. In fact, the way he was “styled” brought out the handsome Jack Russell in him, like never before. It’s been a month or so since he was groomed – he still looks neat, his rounded nails, though long, do not scratch (floors nor skin), and he smells good (OK, he doesn’t smell bad). Here’s a great home away from home where pets are loved and respected, and the grooming follows the animal’s natural characteristics. We lucked out. Melinda and Rosco (Grooming Customer since 2010)"

The kennel is very nice, comparable with the nicer places I've seen, with the added option of nature walks for the dogs. The owner was very accommodating in making sure that both the dogs and I were comfortable with the situation, arranging their beds and toys in each space. She followed complicated medication and feeding regimens for my dogs, and stayed late so that I could pick up the dogs after work.
