AMERICAN ASPHALT & SEALCOATING

I heard complaints from neighbors re dissatisfaction with job & lack of follow-up.  Went to online Better Business Bureau   (http://cleveland.bbb.org/) which continues to give them an F rating.

Further research on company history & owner was enough to suggest I should look elsewhere. I am thankful such resources are easily available to consumers and continue to use them.

Came out in timely manner (less than a week) for estimate. Received estimate in US Mail 10 days later. Price was prohibitively high, higher than all other asphalt and concrete prices.

Terrible!

We contracted them for Sealcoating, crack sealing and patching work on our driveway. After they did their patch work, one of the area where they did the patchwork sunk and a pothole was created. It had been since May since we are following up and it is September and there hadn’t been anyone who came in to either fix it or check on it. I would have called them up over 15 times during this period and they will just mention that we are scheduling us and will call us back with a schedule, then no one will call back!! Overall completely un-professional and very poor in communication.

USED INFERIOR PRODUCT, DID NOT CONFORM TO SPEC, DID NOT FOLLOW LAYOUT.

THEY CAME AND GAVE ME ONE FOR DRIVEWAY SEALING FOR $330. I CALLED THEM TO SCHEDULE THE WORK, LEFT A MESSAGE ON THEIR VOICE MAIL, AND SAID I WANTED TO HAVE THE WORK DONE. THIS WAS 2:30 IN THE AFTERNOON. IN FACT, EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST CALL I MADE, I GOT THEIR VOICEMAIL EVERY TIME I CALLED. I WAITED SEVERAL DAYS, DID NOT GET A CALL BACK, SO CALLED AGAIN AND SAID I WANTED TO SCHEDULE THE JOB. I GOT A CALL BACK THE NEXT DAY (A THURSDAY) FROM A SECRETARY WHO SAID THE SALESMAN WOULD CALL BACK THAT WEEKEND TO SCHEDULE. NO CALL BY MONDAY, I CALLED AGAIN AND LEFT ANOTHER MESSAGE, AND HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM ANYONE. THAT WAS THREE WEEKS AGO. EVIDENTLY THIS COMPANY IS SO BUSY AND SUCCESSFUL THEY DON'T NEED ANY MORE BUSINESS. I CALLED ANOTHER COMPANY, AND THEY HAVE BEEN VERY PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL SO FAR.
