Provider came as promised, and graded the fill i had already had delivered by another vendor.  Provider then covered property with compost, spread grass seed and hay.  Provider was kind enough to come and ensure that the lawn was getting enough water, while we were away for a few days. 
BUT, lawn did not come up as promised.  There were a LOT of bare spots.  So, provider came back and haphazardly threw down some more seed.  However, lawn STILL did not fill in properly.  Provider then sent me an estimate for nearly $600 additional to come and plant the lawn, again.  I wrote a letter to Provider telling him that that this was not the deal we made, and that the lawn was not planted professionally.  Provider then told me that he would not be able to do business with someone who wrote a letter as I did. 
Frankly, I would say that it was probably Provider's intention to bill $2500 for the whole job, but felt that it would be better to drag me in, slowly, bidding a great price initially, and then increasing it as we went along.  I'm certain that Provider was aware that planting this lawn would take several attempts.
I would NEVER use this provider, again.  In fact, my new landscaper told me, quite plainly, that this Provider did not do what he was supposed to do.
