When they finally got around to doing the job, they did a decent job. However, I found doing business with them to be very unprofessional. The woman who handles their phone calls is very rude. I called for a fall clean-up and got an estimate that I thought was fair after getting a few estimates. I reached out to them the week before Thanksgiving to see if they were available to do the job. I had to chase them down as I left a few messages and nobody returned my call, but finally got them on the phone. I explained to them that we were having other work done on the house, and we would need to have the work done before Thanksgiving. I realized this was very short notice, especially since we were expecting snow the day before Thanksgiving. I gave them every fair opportunity to tell me, quite reasonably, that they would be unable to do the work on that schedule. If they would not have been able to do it, I simply would have hired someone else. However, they PROMISED to get the job done either the Monday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and prior to the storm. I returned home Tuesday evening to find that the work had not been done. We called Martino's and got the same woman in the office. We reminded her that we were promised this would be done before the holidays, and that was a condition of us hiring them. She got very nasty and said that everyone wants it done before the holidays, and if it was a problem, she would just cancel service completely. At this point, we had a very narrow window of time to get this done, so finding someone else on that short notice was not an option for us. We asked if they would provide some discount since they did not honor their word to me in getting the job done before the holidays, but they refused. Since we had no choice, we moved forward with the work, but I will never do business with them again. I would rather pay a little more for someone who values my business and treats a customer like they matter. Additionally, they sent me a bill, followed by another bill less than a week later. How about you give me a chance to cut a check?! Then, I mailed a check, which did not clear my bank for nearly 3 weeks. Not sure if they held it or it was delayed in the mail, but 3 days after my check cleared, I got yet another bill, this one telling me that I have an over 30 day balance. Just very frustrating to do business with.
