"Thank you so much for the wonderful review. It's appreciated."
The Hiring RJS: I was referred to RJS by another plumbing company and called Ronnie Salvagio of RJS to discuss my problem and arrange a free estimate based on an arranged visual inspection of the worksite. During the inspection, Ronnie described everything that would likely be involved in fixing the leaks and listed out and explained all of the costs, giving me a verbal estimate of $1,200.
The Work Done: Ronnie and his helper arrived promptly as scheduled and began a gas test on my home's pipes to find all of the leaks. Once the two problem areas were found: two different sections of old pipes where the and quot;dopeand quot; sealant inside the joins was dried and cracked due to age, plus sections were the piping metals are now present-day illegal to use (my house was built in the 1930s), and faulty tubing connecting to my stove, Ronnie replace the old piping and resealed all joins along the piping to my stove and water heater tank. He also removed and capped a second unused gas meter that my home's previous owner left behind. After all of the physical work was done, Ronnie worked with the inspectors from Yonkers and Con Edison to get the work approved of and then my gas service restored. Actual length of work: 7 hours over 2 days
The Follow-up: For anyone that is familiar with the process of having their gas service turned off and then back on in Yonkers, then you know it is a long, unnecessarily drawn out process of arranging first with the city of Yonkers Buildings department for a permit to even do the plumbing work and then file with Con Edison to start a case number to track the work, set up an inspection to review the work and once approved, obtain the coveted and quot;blue cardand quot; to actually get a technician to turn back on the gas. The process for me, took two weeks of daily phone calls back and forth between Ronnie, myself and Con Ed in addition to having everything documented through Con Ed's online Energy Service website. Through it all, Ronnie was absolutely reliable and stellar with calling Con Ed to press them to schedule the work to be done.
My Take-Away and Recommendation: I absolutely will retain RJS for all my major plumbing repairs. Not only did the final price of entire job come in under the initial estimate, RJS was prompt, professional, wasted no time in getting the work done, was willing to explain and answer all of my questions and phone calls (voicemail messages were answered within 5 minutes or same day), and pursued Con Edison to get them to do their part. I would recommend RJS without hesitation to anyone considering on hiring a plumber.
