HDR Contracting headed by Hunter worked on several projects related to remodeling my house that was dominated by 1970s wall paneling to modern decor. He worked on my living room, master bedroom, several hallways and my kitchen. Hunter was always professional, communicated regularly, was available for questions, and ready with design tips. His crew was always top notch. The projects were completed on a timely basis to specifications and I have never experienced any problems after the work was completed. After the kitchen was completed, several of my neighbors and friends suggested sending pictures to a Home Rebuild outlet to showcase the completed work. Hunter remains on my speed dial even though he has completed the renovations to my house that I was hoping to do.

HDR contracting renovated my bathroom, kitchen and some painting in my home. I was very impressed with the level of quality and detail put in the project. Hunter provides great customer service and was always available to answer any questions I have. I highly recommend HDR.

HDR contracting has done several projects for me. Most recently a total renovation of our guest bathroom. The final product was fantastic and the project was smooth start to finish. 5 stars

Hunter is our go to contractor. This is our second project with HDR within 2 years. First renovation in 2020 at my old house involved 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen. I was so happy with them that this year we did an addition to my new home and everything came out perfect! I would recommend HDR to anyone looking for a reliable high quality contractor.

Below is my honest experience with this company. I did several things in my apartment that needed to be remodeled and built. They worked on my kitchen, bathroom, bedroom closet, and built a new closet in my entryway. Please read both the PROS and the CONS to decide if this company is right for you. Pros: Responsiveness: The owner is very responsive. He is always available and ready and willing to discuss things. When I had some issues, he was very responsive and the issue was fixed the following day. Flexibility: The owner is very flexible with timing. He was also very flexible with the changes that came up as the project progressed. We were able to come to agreements to swap out one thing for another so I did not have to pay more and he did not have to refund me. We were able to agree on even swaps. Hard-Working: The men who work for this company (the owner doesn’t actually do any of the working construction) are very hardworking. They sometimes worked 10-12 hour days and only stopped to take a quick lunch break. As a result, they did finish my project ahead of schedule. Closet Construction: They built me a brand new closet where there was no closet before and it came out AMAZING. It looks like it has always been there and looks great! Cons: Painting: These are not professional painters and it shows. I had paint all over my floors, my furniture, and it was uneven and had to be redone a few times. Spots were missing and I had to go around and inspect every little area to make sure that the painting happened. I had to specifically request that they cover my furniture after spending the day cleaning paint off of it. This should be a given and should have happened before I even asked. I also asked them to use painters tape, and he refused (probably because it takes considerable time to do it the right way). I am still not totally satisfied with the paint job, but I had to just accept it. Accountability: Nothing is ever “their fault”--every issue that I had (including having them redo painting in some rooms) was something that they claimed that I did, or the walls weren’t straight, or something. It was never something that they may be needed to take more care with. A lot of the work appeared to be rushed and done carelessly, and there was no accountability for that on the part of the company. Punctuality: As a person working from home, the arrival time of the team in the morning had an impact on my day. I had to be sure that I was up and showered and ready before they arrived. Sometimes this meant waking up 2 hours before I normally would. It was very frustrating to wake up early to accommodate them, to only be sitting there waiting and waiting for them to arrive. In three weeks, they did not arrive on time ONCE. The owner had an excuse every day about “traffic” and “long lines” at Home Depot. To this I said, plan ahead. Why are you scrambling in Home Depot in the morning? As someone who has worked my entire life, I have always left early enough for work just in case I hit traffic or something unexpected happened. He did not seem to think his punctuality was expected or a big deal if he was not on time. Organization: There were SEVERAL times throughout this 3-4 week project that the workers did not have things that they needed or the schedule was all over the place. The owner seemed to be making decisions nightly about what the plan was for the next day. As someone living in the home during the renovation, this was extremely frustrating to not know how to plan my day until the night before. I think that the men that work for this company would have done a better job if their materials and schedules were more organized. Professionalism: While the owner is available and accessible by phone, I could hear his kids screaming in the background on almost every phone call. I get that we are working from home now, but I still manage to conduct myself professionally. He is a nice guy, but can be visibly frustrated by things that may not go perfectly. You can hear frustration in his voice when he doesn’t get his way. Since I posted this review, he has harassed me to take it down. That is also important to note.
