It went extremely well. Gino and one helper completed the job within the estimated time frame. He was very helpful in working with us to make the new bathroom come out the way we wanted. He completed all phases of the job himself--the rip-out and taking away of old fixtures and materials; plumbing, electrical, sheetrocking, tiling and trim work. The only function he contracted out for was taping. We were very happy with his professionalism--he's low-key, approachable, and suggests alternatives when he sees a problem looming. We were also very happy with his price. I had a competing estimate for the same job with Bennett Contracting (a company I've used several times for replacement windows); Bennett estimated a minimum cost of $15,000, three times what I paid Gino. Both estimates included labor, basic materials (sheetrock, durarock, screws, electrical wire, plumbing connections), but not the actual fixtures (tub, toilet,vanity, faucets, showerhead, lights, fan, etc). I understand that Bennett has overhead expenses that Gino doesn't, but I feel that the work was done in a professional way--just like Bennett would've done--but I saved $10,000 in the process.
I didn't hire Gino sight unseen. he had installed a new bathroom for my daughter a few years earlier, and I liked the way that job came out. Although I didn't know him, I had confidence that he'd do my job well, and he did. I don't know why he doesn't advertise, but he stays busy through word of mouth advertising. He doesn't limit himself to bathrooms and kitchens--he can do many types of contracting jobs.
