We contracted and paid the required 50% deposit for our kitchen slabs (Maldive, Brushed finish) from Granite & Marble Works, Inc. in Wilton, NY. After we had driven there in the owner’s husband admitted that they had sold the slabs we had paid for. They took other (polished)n slabs and unsuccessfully tried to grind in a brushed finish as we had contracted for. Under duress and financial time constraints we went with a 3rd polished version as the closest available substitute they would provide. We agreed to the templated layout on these substitute slabs. However, they cut according to a different template and delivered/installed that instead. They used 1 area I specifically said I didn’t want during the template inspection and 1 which was not in the templated area. The factory finish was ground off in an attempt to make the countertop flatter at the seam. Their repair employee left excessive grinding marks and also chipped our counter. Poor seams, poor veining - poor results.

thestExcellent. From the sale to the install, it was one of the smoothest projects I can say I have done at my house. They were able to make the templates without me having to have the countertops removed. This was great since It didn't leave me without a useable kitchen for 5 weeks.

The entire process went very well. The most difficult decision I had to make was which granite slab to select. There is a very large variety of granite colors and designs. As part of the deal, Granite and Marble Works (G&MW) also supplied the new stainless steel sink at no cost. I also opted for a 6" granite backsplash. A really great option by G&MW is that they provide you an option to disconnect the plumbing to the sink and reconnect the plumbing and new faucet after the countertops are complete. This worked best for me so that I didn't have to coordinate the plumbing. G&MW also suggested that I replace my garbage disposal since it was over 5 years old. The cost of the garbage disposal install was included in the plumbing option. Prior to cutting the slab, G&MW requested that I return to the store so that a member of their team could roughly lay out the countertops on the slab so that I could review, approve or make changes. I also provided them with the manufacturer and model of the new faucet I purchased so that the correct hole(s) would be provided in the slab. The install was completed in one day with 2-3 men. The installers arrived in the morning and removed my old sink and countertops and installed the new ones. Everything fit perfect and my kitchen looks like so much nicer and luxurious. Thanks to entire team at Granite and Marble Works!

This is the second re-modeling project for which we have used Granite & Marble Works. We are extremely pleased with the service and craftsmanship. The owners Mike and Margaret are a pleasure to do business with and their personal follow-up is great. This is from another Mike and Margaret!

My husband and I thoroughly researched granite/marble vendors in the area. Granite & Marble Works, Inc. was the only one to offer measuring for the new countertops WITHOUT removing the old ones first and to provide their own plumber. Their prices were very competitive. Melanie was excellent to work with. We brought a cabinet door with us, took our time and finally decided on one particular slab of granite. We also purchased a beautiful Blanco/Silgranit sink, a kitchen faucet and a new garbage disposal. Their measurer came to the house shortly thereafter and took all of the necessary measurements. We went back to their facility to confirm the portion of our slab they were going to use for our countertops. After that, we just waited. They called to make an install date, and in one day all of the old was gone and our beautiful new countertops were fully installed. The fellows who installed them were pleasant and efficient. We love our new countertops, etc. and would definitely recommend Granite & Marble Works, Inc. to others!

Great service and a friendly interface is dreadfully lacking at so many companies these days. This is the reason that I have singled out Granite & Marble Works in Gansevoort, NY. They are definitely on top of the customer engagement pyramid. Renovating a kitchen is a difficult and stressful job. Selecting appliances, cabinets, countertops, flooring and a good contractor is not easy, by any means. So many products, so many companies, understanding how to compare prices for what you are receiving can be difficult and quite tricky. If you have ever taken on this monster project, you know exactly what I mean. Granite & Marble Works is an oasis amongst all of the pressure, stress and "must be right" details. They are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Their staff makes the job easy. There is no pressure or rush. The entire process was made as simple as possible. As soon as we were led back to the massive room where you select your stone tablet, I knew that we were dealing with the right people. The hardest part of the process was making a selection from amongst the multitude of options. Our sales rep felt more like a friendly neighbor than a sales person. Christine Phelan, explained the simple five step process and made everything very easy for us. One less thing to stress about. If you are lucky enough to deal with Christine, be sure to give her a big hug from Linda & Gerry. (She smells real nice also.)

I chose the company because it was one stop shopping. The sales person was helpful and knowledgeable. The entire process from selecting the stone, the in-house measurement and the install was done in a professional manner. The counter upgrade has made a difference. A NICE company to do business with and I would select them again.

Just wanted to pass along our thanks for our beautiful counters that were installed. We could not be happier, they are gorgeous! Your installer, Chris, could not have done a more perfect job. He has a great attention to detail and spent the extra time needed to make it look impeccable. Thank you!

I contacted Granite & Marble Works on a Friday to see if it would even be possible for the the cutout to be enlarged. They assured me that they could do this and quickly set up an appointment for me for early the following week. The technician/stone cutter, Rob Lopez, was excellent, second to none. He understood that I was quite nervous about this project and put my fears to rest. He explained to me exactly what he would be doing and completed the job quickly and competently (in fact the cutout is now much cleaner looking than the original one). He made sure the new unit would fit, and cleaned everything up after all was done. The price was very reasonable as I was expecting to have to pay much more than I did. My new cooktop is now installed and I couldn't be happier. While he was there I had him take a look at another spot in the counter where it had settled a bit and he said that would be an easy fix. I fully intend to call Granite & Marble works for that project as well as any other stone project I might have in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for any homeowner who might have a project - large or small - involving stonework.

Both jobs went very well. The measurements were exact, the countertops fit perfectly and the workers were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely use them again as well as recommend them to anyone.

Margaret did an outstanding job helping us to select an ideal slab for our (smaller) project from their very large selection, including giving excellent advice on the design. The pieces arrived just ahead of schedule and were in perfect condition. And when a piece was broken during installation (by others) they delivered a replacement piece in less than a day, allowing us to stay on schedule, We have used this company for a quite large supply/install project plus a couple of smaller supply/install projects in the past and the results have always been excellent. Highly recommend.

Really well. They were a pleasure to work with. Their facility is very large and they have a large inventory of stone of all kinds. They patiently allowed us to wander their warehouse on 5 separate occasions as we first chose one type of granite, then switched to a different one. They use computerized measuring equipment to provide exact specifications for the stone cutting. Mike Roohan suggested that we replace a high rise countertop behind our sink with a larger countertop on one level. We did that, and it looks great! They consult with you about the manner in which a large slab will be cut for your job (there are variations within the stone). Installation was timely. Everyone there was polite, helpful, patient, and professional. The outcome is beautiful.

I went to this company for marble countertops.  After being warned off about marble I settled for a Quartzite.  The sales person said  my name would be placed on the slab I picked out and held until we were ready for it.  When the time came for me to template the slab I went back in and was told that I could choose my slab from what was available in the Quartizite they had that day!  When I asked where the slab was I had picked out they said that's not how it works.  Thank goodness my husband was with me because he remembers being told the same thing.  In fact that is why I went to this granite company! Because on the phone and then in person I was told I could pick out the slab I wanted ahead of time and they would hold it for me!

As I tried to decide what I was going to do it felt as if I was being harassed.  First by the salesperson then by the owner.  They were rude and rushed me throughout this process.   In the end I decided on marble.  Two men came to install.  Vey nice, on time.  Unfortunately, they were not capable of doing this installation.  The counter top required a large seam.  I could see the seam from across the room.  And  the front edge of  the seam had a chip out of it.  The chip is nickel size.  Also the sink that came with the counter tops was spotted with a rust like substance.  It did not come off with gentle soap and wipe so   I called and told the owner.  Cutting to the chase. The sent a second man came out.  He took two trips to  finish the job.  When I asked the owner if they could send someone on Saturday or Sunday instead of another weekday, which requires me to be at the house now three days, and my contractor to be set back in his work for three days instead of two.  She acted as if I was being unreasonable!  She told me I had "difficult conversations" before!  What????  And that she wanted to talk to my husband!   How rude!  She said she didn't "really" know what happened to the sink!!!

The second installer said something had been wrong with the glue the first installers had used.  As it didn't dry.  End result is while the seam does look better.  It is still quite noticeable.  Wider than expected and that nickel size chip while less apparent is still obvious.  The installers response to the marble being chipped was "chips happen" !

We went to store, met with designer.  We knew what type of material and pattern we wanted before going to the store.  They helped us pick out sinks and made great recommendations for edging to meet our needs. We were told it would be approx 6 weeks until the counters were ready. The company has two date ranges; a shorter time frame for homeowners who do not have a working kitchen (new construction) and a longer range for those who have a working kitchen (remodel). We were in the longer range.  Mike, the owner came to the house as scheduled to measure the counters.
The contract included sinks, removal of old countertops. We elected to install the faucets, disconnect and reconnect the plumbing.
We had to call two times as it took longer than the six weeks before the installation took place. The company is very busy and our Silestone took longer to come into the shop than planned. When the installation date was set, the installers arrived on time, placed pads on the hardwood floors. The men were very professional, courteous, and cleaned up when finished. We were given instructions for care of the counters and how long to wait before installing the faucets.
We were told the job would take a full day but they completed the job in much less time.
The kitchen and bathroom look great!  We are very happy with the work and would use them again.

All went well..met all time frames for viewing stone, preparing template, all installation.
Had all accessories available for purchase..well coordinated
very cordial and accommodating staff
Installer provided first mineral oil treatment, answered all questions.
The business is very busy but they were clear on length of backlog and complied with reasonable timelines.
Pricing was similar to other vendors..same ballpark, but with exceptionally larger inventory than others and vast showroom
space.
Well-run local business.

Extremely poor customer service - both owners were rude to us at times.  We were called and asked to have someone at our home within 20 minutes to get the templating done.  When I missed this call and returned the call (within 5 minutes) I was treated extremely poorly - I was asking for another time - was yelled at by the owner and he hung up on me.  When I called back he told me not to call again.
Then the island counter top was cut too small.  Fortunately they had another slab of the same material so it could be re-cut.
The installers were excellent and did a great job.

Margret and her team were friendly and professional in the shop.  From measurements to installation, every arrived on time.  They were available by phone or email if you needed anything or had questions.  The granite price included the sink which was a rare find.  What was even more rare was that they did  not require us to remove the counters for measuring.  Only on the day of installation were the old ones taken off.  That was awesome.
