Alan Singer was very thorough, knowledgeable, and patient, answering all questions we had, including some followup questions regarding improvements the seller did after inspection.

We used Alan Singer of Sterling Home Inspections for two home inspections
within the span of three days in February 2013.  We cannot speak more highly
of his professionalism, thoroughness, and rigor. The first home that Alan
inspected on our behalf was replete with concerns and problems, but Alan
presented them in a very balanced manner, placing the findings within the
context of the age of the home and educating us about what was reasonable to
expect.  While we decided not to move forward with that purchase, largely
due to Alan's comprehensive sleuthing, Alan made sure to never have his
personal opinion enter our decision-making process - only the facts that he
uncovered.   
With very little notice, Alan made himself available to inspect a second
home two days later.  Because of his excellent work at the first property,
we trusted him to inspect this home without us present (we live
out-of-state) and relied upon his written report to move forward with that
purchase.  His thoroughness again was evident in the level of detail he
provided-and in the fact that he spent even more time in the house a few
days later upon retrieving the radon canisters, when access to the attic had
been made available to us.  
No area of the house escapes Alan's notice - exterior, interior, roof,
attic, crawlspaces.  Alan even made a point to open literally every drawer
and door in both kitchens.  His report (30 pages for the second home alone),
filled with written and visual descriptions of each concern, will form the
basis of our repair list to address in the first years of home ownership.
We cannot recommend him highly enough.
