This fall we remodeled our entire home with Spista Contracting and couldn't be more happy with the results. We renovated the kitchen, bathrooms & all bedrooms. Spista Contracting kept within their time frame to complete, knowing that we were a family of 5 anxious to get back into our home. Remodeling can be stressful, but Spista Contracting took the worry out by always staying on top of the timeline, keeping us as homeowners aware of what the next steps were, and scheduling time to meet with us to go over the work. We walked through the home as the construction and remodeling unfolded, always able to ask questions and we were guided through next steps. It was also obvious that the team took pride in their work. We often had walkthroughs and it was amazing to see the details that were put into it...making sure everything was done to the best. In all aspects of the work. His team was such a pleasure to be around - always friendly and hard working. They were professional and when any questions arose during construction, we were notified immediately and we worked through to find the best solutions.

Freddy was an exceptional contractor. He was super responsive via text and phone and available at any time of day to answer questions and concerns. He worked many Saturdays and even a couple of Sundays (with our ok) to get the job done. The guys he worked with were trustworthy, neat and overall did great work. I would without hesitation recommend Spista contracting for any sized project... you will not be disappointed.

Freddy was able to begin within days of receiving the permit. He and his crew arrived early every day. The subcontractors for the plumbing, electrical and HVAC were there in a timely manner. Freddy is a hands-on contractor. The work he did was superior and when revisions were made he researched the options and made excellent suggestions on not only how they could be done but the best materials to use. We had time constraints in terms of finishing the renovation so we could move into the house and Freddy was very responsive to our needs. Freddy is a homeowner's dream as a contractor. I would and will hire him again for any work that needs to be done on our house.

Freddie is a true professional who gets the job done. Our huge project came in on time and on budget because Freddie worked so hard. He works a full day and does super high quality work. We are very happy we used him!! Freddie is local to the area and has good relationships with all the tradesmen involved- he uses local people too. We have absolutely no hesitation recommending him for any job- large or small.

I wish there were a grade higher than A!  I can't say enough good things about Freddy and his team.  We are actually going to miss having them at the house every day.  Freddy's work is impeccable and he is so nice and so reassuring and so knowledgeable.  He took care of emergencies that came up without batting an eye, even though it impacted his schedule.  I was very nervous about undertaking these renovations and he kept me calm -- no small feat.  We have a house built in 1938.  Freddy came up with a beautiful way to renovate the master bathroom, and along the way we added in renovations to the powder room and painting the living room.  He is incredibly responsive and just a genuinely nice person.  The rooms that he renovated are so beautiful, I can't believe they are in my house!  I would highly recommend Freddy to anyone (and I already have recommended him to friends).  I am looking forward to updating the rest of the house with him as my budget allows.  I wouldn't work with anyone else -- I would happily wait to fit into his schedule.  Thank you Freddy!

I work in architecture and used to do design build which includes contracting work. With those standards, Freddy is a true professional and does great work.
I had a few people come and bid the work. Freddy won my confidence from that visit, asking the right questions, giving thoughts and advice from the get go. Many others came in and asked almost nothing. When their bids came in they were indeed much lower but there is NO question that they were not understanding the scope of work and I would be hit with continual "added costs" throughout the project. While Freddy's costs came in as more (note- price does not include finishes or fixtures) I understood that he was bigging realistically and left himself some wiggle room. Every project has items that come up-- Freddy absorbed them all and never asked for more money. He did a lot of added work that was not in the scope: restructuring part of the bathroom when the structure above the ceiling was seen as compromised etc. He is always responsive, prompt and DEFINITELY goes the extra mile. He is clearly looking to do whats in his clients best interests and what they want and not nickel and diming for his benefit- which a lot of people do. He comes for small punch items with no complaint and takes real pride in his work.
Re the work: Freddy's open to presenting options to get towards what youre looking for throughout the process, his tile work is amazing and he keeps his standards high. He is respectful, and generally an extremely easy person to work with. Thank you Freddy!

I have done four major home renovations and Freddy is by far the best contractor I have worked with. He is professional, courteous and sticks to his word. With any sizeable project there are always going to be some issues that you encounter, but Freddy had a variety of options for handling each and every one of them. Our project was quite extensive including bathrooms, kitchen, windows, doors, wall and structure changes. I was very, very happy with Freddy and have already started other work with him.

The Project was scheduled to take 6-7 weeks. Leading up to the start of the project Freddy and I spoke often and materials were dropped off so that once the project started, we could proceed, without waiting for anything to be available. Note- make sure you have a storage area for these materials (I used half of my two car garage). I chose to use my own Cabinet and tile provider and handled the selection and purchasing of my appliances. In summary the project consisted of:

  • demolition down to stud
  • Installation of Windows and a Door
  • All foundational prep work
  • Installation of under the floor heating (electric, but we did discuss a water based system)
  • Tile of floor and backsplash
  • Electrical -
  • upgrade service to the house
  • replace existing Fuse based panel with breakers
  • replacement of a subpanel in the basement to handle the new Kitchen
  • Install of under the floor heating system

  • Plumbing - move and replacement of Natural gas and water based systems
  • Installation of appliances
  • Sheetrock install and taping
  • Painting
  • Trim and Molding

On the day Freddy and I agreed to start the project, he was on time with a crew of two, to begin the demolition. In two days, the majority of my kitchen was down to stud and we had our first "we didn't see that" moment. The back wall of my kitchen had a water leak down the inside of the wall which resulted in the sill plate being rotted down the cement foundation. Freddy and I launched into an immediate discussion on the additional work and associated cost required to make this right. After a brief negotiation, we came to an agreed upon change, which required the back wall of my kitchen to be taken down, the foundation rebuilt and that section of the house needed to be re-sided. This also meant that the Widow frames had to be built from scratch which was something unexpected as we had ordered replacement windows.

The Plumbing crew (John and his son) was Great and were professionals

The Electrical crew was also great, but sometimes had some scheduling issues around not showing up on time (just call Freddy, he handles this)

The Painting and trim guys were fantastic.

Freddy is an EXCELLENT tile man

I had the Cabinet place install the cabinets and countertops (it should be included on the order as part of the capital improvement cost) so Freddy worked with them around that schedule

Freddy then came back and installed the appliances and finished the job

So, even with the delay requiring the back wall being rebuilt and sided, and the fact that the inspector for White Plains resigned while my project was going on, my kitchen was functioning in 7 weeks and finished (including all of the inspections), in a little over 8 weeks.

Spista Contracting was great! They not only moved the project along, they worked weekends to make up the time and produced FANTASTIC results. Everyone who walks into my new Kitchen is blown away at how great it came out.

I would recommend Spista to anyone looking to have work done.

Thanks Freddy

Working with Freddie was a true pleasure.  When we embarked on this project, my husband and I met wtih several contractors and decided to work with Freddie because he was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of his profession.   Moreover, he was very personable and gave honest answers when questions were asked.   Once we started the project, we could not have been luckier; he was always reachable and ready to answer questions and address any concerns.  He helped and guided us at every turn, from choosing the appropriate materials to recommending other professionals (when asked) who were just as scrupulous as himself.  He is very neat and careful with the property and punctual beyond belief.  He is a hands on kind of person.  He gave us a time line to complete the job and finished it way ahead of schedule.  His attention to detail is superior.  Everyone who has seen his work simply loves it.  We could not be happier and would certainly not only recommend his services, but use them again in the future without hesitation.
As far as the price is concerned, there were lower quotes as well as higher; however, we decided on Freddie for all the reasons stated above.  He is not cheap, but he is not extremely expensive either.   We believe he deserves what he asks for.  His workmanship is absolutely flawless.

I recently moved to the area and bought a new house.  I found Freddy through Angie?s List. I interviewed two other contractors, but it was clear that Freddy was the most knowledgeable, listen to what I wanted and knew his trade well. He handled all aspects of the remodel, from getting an architect review, applying for permits, doing a large amount of the work himself as well as managing his sub-contractors.  He even went the extra mile to come to the showroom with  me to help pick out fixtures and tiles. He is honest, meticulous, and responsive to questions. He is a joy to work with!   I couldn?t recommend him more highly.

Excellent, cannot say enough good things! I hired Freddy based on Angie's List for remodeling our master bathroom. A wall had to be taken down and the whole new bathroom constructed from scratch. Freddy managed everything for us - the architect for creating the drawings, the work permit, plumber, electrician, painter, inspections. As the work permit took longer than ecpected, we were in a crunch to finish everything before Christmas when we were expecting family staying over at our house, but Freddy managed to finish the entire job in less than four weeks, which was absolutely amazing. Not to mention that everything has been executed with meticulous attention to detail and with minimal mess in our house. Working with him has been a pleasure, always responsive, going the extra mile to get the job done, and always thinking ahead. In terms of pricing the quote (and final price we paid) was also very reasonable for the job. We had a very bad contractor experience before when redoing our kitchen. I am so glad we hired Freddy for the bathroom, and definitely will do so again when updating the next bathroom in our house. Lots of friends have already asked me for his contact after seeing our bathroom, and I am happily recommending Spista Contracting to them.

Freddy was excellent. His workmanship is stellar and he was incredibly professional. He gets back to clients immediately either via phone or email. He was never late at any time, but was also able to work around a couple delays that were caused by the cabinet designer's errors. Additionally, he is exceptional at laying tile. We have had a series of bad contractors in the past, let me assure you that Freddy is not one of them. He was quiet, patient and got the job done quickly and efficiently. Our kitchen looks so wonderful and we could not be more pleased with his work. He was incredibly honest and easy to work with and we look forward to hiring him again for several other projects in our home. I highly recommend him without reservation!

We hired Fred Spista to remodel our kitchen and do some other work in our home.  The kitchen is almost done, and are very pleased with the results so far.  Fred has done the work on time and within the budget.  There have been zero surprises.  He is very responsive to all of our calls/emails/texts, and in fact, he is constantly calling even without being prompted to provide updates.  The work is high quality and Fred has an excellent attention to detail.  The kitchen looks great. We would not hesitate to hire Fred for any other work we do in our home in the future.
We will update the review once everything is finished.

Major leak from upstairs sink resulted in torrents of water spilling from several areas in the the kitchen ceiling - including light fixtures, window frames, and generally across kitchen ceiling where leak occurred.  Freddie did only the areas of the ceiling that needed repair and matched the paint perfectly.  He replaced the insulation where it had been ruined and he made the ceiling look like new.  This was done with minimal disruption - he used sheeting to close off the area so dust would not invade the rest of the house.  We were back in our kitchen in a very short turn-around time.  Very courteous and professional attitude and cleaned up each day.

Fred was very professional, trust-worthy and thorough.  He is very responsive, always reachable over the phone, text or email, even on weekends.  He was always cheerful and courteous in person and on the phone.  He explained everything he was doing very thoroughly and we felt very comfortable with him and his work every step of the way.  Most importantly, he was there on the job every day, doing most of the work himself so that we didn't have to worry about dealing with people other than him.  His employee was also very courteous and hard-working.  Fred went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with everything.  We are very happy with his services and would highly recommend him to anyone.

We had our roof replaced and one of the pieces of crown molding on the fascia was rotting so the roofers removed it. I found Freddy through Angie's list and gave him a call. We talked about the work, he came out that evening after his other business was finished to provide an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and friendly.

We hired Spista Contracting on the basis of the reviews we had read on Angie's List.  The quote that Spista provided was in the mid-range (to higher-end) of a number of quotes we had received, however, it was important to us to have quality work done by a reliable and efficient contractor and we were willing to pay a slight premium.  Now that the work has been completed our view is that the amount we paid was very fair.  Spista Contracting more than lived up  to our expectations.  The kitchen, which is small, required a gut renovation and some demolition and reconstruction.  We were extremely impressed with the quality of craftsmanship and the attention to detail.  The project moved along in a very efficient and smooth manner -- with workers even coming in on the weekend when necessary to keep things moving along.  We have worked with a number of contractors over the years (having previously gut renovated a 100-year old Victorian) and we can sincerely say that Spista Contracting stands out in a league of its own, head and shoulders above the others we have dealt with.  We highly recommend Spista Contracting (and Angie's List!).  Our next project will be a bathroom renovation and we will most definitely hire Spista Contracting for that project.

I could not have been happier to have found this contractor  through Angie's List.  There can be no nicer individual to work with; honest, punctual, neat and responsible.  The work was completed in a timely fashion and my wife and myself were more than pleased with the results, so were my neighbors!  We will most certainly use his company again in the future.  He is "the man"!
