Based upon his previous excellent Angie’s List reviews, I hired Anthony Bellantoni to perform the renovation work listed above on my home in White Plains. I wanted a contractor who was very experienced, familiar with the exacting regulations of working in White Plains, and who had the exemplary design and carpentry skills to renovate the outside of my house while maintaining its architectural integrity. The goal was to have each finished alteration look like it had always been there. I couldn’t be happier with the work that Anthony performed. He is a true craftsman, with tremendous attention to detail, vast forensic knowledge of older homes, and the ability to problem solve that only comes from decades of hands-on experience. In the past, I had worked with a different contractor on an interior renovation who I rarely saw, because he had multiple projects going at once, and delegated almost all his work to others. Anthony Bellantoni performs only one project at a time, shows up for work at the job site every day like clockwork, and performs the work himself. And when a task does require him to hire subcontractors (e.g. roofing, masonry, electrical) he is still there every day to oversee all the work that is being done. He will see your project through to completion before beginning another one. This level of commitment and attention to a single client is quite rare, and is something I truly appreciated. Anthony is also scrupulously honest and reliable when it comes to charges for labor and materials. Unlike some others I have dealt with in the past, Anthony is always looking for ways to save the homeowner money by making smart design and materials choices, as well as minimizing waste. But there is absolutely no skimping or cutting corners when it comes to the quality of the work performed. I also found Anthony to be easy to work with. He didn’t mind that I wanted to be involved in the details and decisions, and he remained focused on making sure that the end result was what I wanted. It would be difficult to find another contractor with such a broad range of knowledge and skill, as reliable, as honest, and with such a great work ethic. I consider myself lucky that I got Anthony Bellantoni to work on my home, and hope to use his services again when the need arises.

It went completely smoothly. Anthony managed the subcontractors and installed new floor and wall tile, new drywall, painted, performed carpentry, coordinated inspections, and oversaw the installation of a new tub, sink, toilet, glass shower door, and lighting. We wouldn't use any other contractor.

It went great! Anthony not only refaced an old but treasured cabinet, did the window and door installation, tile work, wood floor installation, carpentry, drywall, and painting, but also managed delivery of flooring, appliances, and tiles. He also oversaw the counter and appliances installation, and plumbing, and electrical contractors, as well as the inspections. The kitchen is beautiful. Anthony is especially expert in old Tudors; he has one like ours and, of course, does his own work at home. We wouldn't work with anyone else to preserve our home.

I have known Tony Bellantoni for many years. He has done a lot of work on my parents’ house – everything from refinishing the basement after a flood (twice), installing an in ground generator (no more floods), fixing plumbing mistakes from a previous contractor, installing French doors, re-roofing to transforming a cold dreary room above a garage into a magnificent den. When I bought my house, I made sure that Tony was available to handle the renovation. He did amazing work on what was practically a complete gut job. Almost nothing was left untouched. In addition, the electrician, plumber and H-VAC guys he works with all did terrific work. A list of some of the work done consists of: - working with the Building Dept to make sure that all previous work was up to code and had the proper permits. It didn’t. Tony worked to clear up everything before beginning our renovation. He also secured the proper permits for the work that we were doing. - Installing new windows and doors. - opening walls and widening doorways to create a more open floor plan. - installing a new kitchen and master bath, renovating an existing powder room, installing a separate heating and air conditioning zone, converting a wood-burning fire place to gas, repairing and re-finishing existing hard wood floors and repainting the entire interior of the house. In doing all of this work, we found dangerous structural and electrical issues, left over from work done by previous owners, which Tony and his team fully rectified. Tony takes his role of contactor very seriously, carefully supervising any work done by sub-contractors in a house he is in charge of. I found that Tony paid meticulous attention to every detail. He patiently answered any questions I had throughout the process. From him I learned that the only stupid question is the one you don’t ask. The work on my house was completed 1 ½ years ago and everything remains in perfect condition. If you are used to watching HGTV shows, where your house is totally transformed in 6 weeks, it won’t happen. It will take longer but it will be worth the wait. I could not be happier.

His attention to detail and professionalism based on other neighbors that have used him have been right on.  He is very professional when it comes to communicating details from timing to material delivery and have had no problems.  His work has been admired by guests in our home and we have no problem recommending him to friends.  We would gladly use  him and plan or using him on upcoming projects in the future. Mr Bellantoni has worked on our house from May 1999 to present.

Mr. Bellantoni was always prompt with his service and responded immediately to any questions which we had. He presented all of the options and gave us cost estimates up front, which happened to be quite accurate. Mr. Bellantoni always returned our calls in a timely manner and the work was completed when promised. All of the other trades people which Mr. Bellantoni recommended were extremely professional and were equally responsive to our concerns/needs. The quality of the work was top-notch and my wife and I are extremely happy with the finished product. We definitely plan on using Mr. Bellantoni for our next construction project!

I was outraged to read the previous reviews. Our experiences with Anthony Bellantoni, LLC have been nothing short of excellent and have been so for 15 years. We won't use any other contractor. I called just recently to make sure he'd be available for our kitchen remodeling project this summer.
Anthony has always been nothing short of courteous, professional and meticulous. He won't begin a job until all parties understand and agree on the work to be done and the estimate, and insurance and all permits are in place to ensure that everyone and everything associated with a project are protected. He is always available and we had many meetings and late phone calls before the project even began. Anthony was always willing to stop by on Saturdays to answer questions. In other words, he always went the extra mile without making it feel extra; it was just part of the job to him.
Anthony always told us what options we had and tried to save as much money as possible for us. He is truly a "measure twice, cut once" type of professional craftsman, the likes of which we don't see much anymore, and it's a shame that we don't.

We must rescind our recommendation of Anthony Bellantoni.  We had treated him extremely well in the past, leading him to become complacent and comfortable with anything he did, or did not do.  One example among many, for the installation of a generator, a job that should have taken weeks, wasn?t completed for 8½ months.  There is nothing positive we can say about his recent fiasco.  We will never use him again.

Mr. Bellantoni?s comments are so replete with misstatement of facts that a complete rebuttal would be excessively lengthy and a waste of time.  Suffice to say, we had him do several projects in the past, mostly successful; some not so.

We had in fact paid him $106,000 for work performed in the past, frequently before he even requested money. In addition we had given him several hundred dollars in Christmas gifts for 3 successive years.

We now wonder if we made him too comfortable working here on the generator project and previous work. We feel as though he felt that he could do, or not do, anything he wanted rather than sticking to what was contracted.

The specific concerns we have relative to his comments include but are not limited to:

The generator was not delayed because as he falsely states that we wanted a ?custom? built unit.  According to Kohler the generator was stock built, available in one to three days, anywhere in the country.

He gave us improper standards for generator location necessitating plans to be redrawn. This is what delayed the building permit.

Upon his request we paid him $7840 for him to pay two of his subcontractors in full. It came to our attention that he didn?t pay the subcontractors out of this $7840 so we ended up paying them directly for the work that they did, thus actually paying twice.

He never has given us actual subcontractor costs that our attorney had requested of him.

One year after Bellantoni did the construction we have misaligned doors, nails popping out, walls cracking, grout coming out, windows hard to open, roof that leaks, a gate that was installed backwards and peeling paint.

It is now 2 years later.  Work done by Bellantoni has failed for numerous reasons, including improper installation.  His "rebuttals" constantly contain misstatement of facts and makes our hiring him a serious mistake.
Response from Anthony Bellantoni LLC

"After reading your review of July 12,2014 regarding the 150 sq. ft. addition we built for you I was very shocked and surprised at this review and the problems you listed. As a valued long standing good customer this is the first I have heard of these issues more than 3 years later. Had I and my subs known sooner I would have immediately made repairs as required and my sub contractors would have done the same to meet with your satisfaction. ln the subsequent years following the construction of the new addition you hired me to make ceramic tile repairs resulting from your purchase and installation of defective materials by others, install a new interior door that was not operating properly resulting from the existing house settlement, make repairs to your existing sump pump that was not working properly, install a new flat roof that previously leaked, custom make a vinyl fence and gate from your existing materials rather than purchase new proper materials to screen a neighbors wall, repair the stone pavers of your front walk and entry steps. During a horrific storm that almost paralyzed the City of White Plains and surrounding communities and facing my own problems at my house I rushed to your aid when no one else could. I fixed your existing portable generator that was not working properly and I put things back in order for you. I even told you I would leave my home and stay in your garage all night of the storm to ensure the generator proper operation at no charge. All of these projects costs were many thousands of dollars and met with your expectations and satisfaction. During all those years you never mentioned any problems with the new addition or any other work done by me and or my sub contractors and you further invited friends and neighbors to your house to see the beautiful work we did for you. All work performed to the new addition met all Building Department Permit requirements. Further, you continue to recommend me to others and contract me for new work you also continued to use my sub contractors who worked on the new addition. After many years as a valued client I don't understand why you would have written this negative review when all you had to do was call me or mention these issues while I was at your house doing other work and/or arrange a time to go over the complaints and get them resolved to your satisfaction.
