We must rescind our recommendation of Anthony Bellantoni. We had treated him extremely well in the past, leading him to become complacent and comfortable with anything he did, or did not do. One example among many, for the installation of a generator, a job that should have taken weeks, wasn?t completed for 8½ months. There is nothing positive we can say about his recent fiasco. We will never use him again.
Mr. Bellantoni?s comments are so replete with misstatement of facts that a complete rebuttal would be excessively lengthy and a waste of time. Suffice to say, we had him do several projects in the past, mostly successful; some not so.
We had in fact paid him $106,000 for work performed in the past, frequently before he even requested money. In addition we had given him several hundred dollars in Christmas gifts for 3 successive years.
We now wonder if we made him too comfortable working here on the generator project and previous work. We feel as though he felt that he could do, or not do, anything he wanted rather than sticking to what was contracted.
The specific concerns we have relative to his comments include but are not limited to:
The generator was not delayed because as he falsely states that we wanted a ?custom? built unit. According to Kohler the generator was stock built, available in one to three days, anywhere in the country.
He gave us improper standards for generator location necessitating plans to be redrawn. This is what delayed the building permit.
Upon his request we paid him $7840 for him to pay two of his subcontractors in full. It came to our attention that he didn?t pay the subcontractors out of this $7840 so we ended up paying them directly for the work that they did, thus actually paying twice.
He never has given us actual subcontractor costs that our attorney had requested of him.
"After reading your review of July 12,2014 regarding the 150 sq. ft. addition we built for you I was very shocked and surprised at this review and the problems you listed. As a valued long standing good customer this is the first I have heard of these issues more than 3 years later. Had I and my subs known sooner I would have immediately made repairs as required and my sub contractors would have done the same to meet with your satisfaction. ln the subsequent years following the construction of the new addition you hired me to make ceramic tile repairs resulting from your purchase and installation of defective materials by others, install a new interior door that was not operating properly resulting from the existing house settlement, make repairs to your existing sump pump that was not working properly, install a new flat roof that previously leaked, custom make a vinyl fence and gate from your existing materials rather than purchase new proper materials to screen a neighbors wall, repair the stone pavers of your front walk and entry steps. During a horrific storm that almost paralyzed the City of White Plains and surrounding communities and facing my own problems at my house I rushed to your aid when no one else could. I fixed your existing portable generator that was not working properly and I put things back in order for you. I even told you I would leave my home and stay in your garage all night of the storm to ensure the generator proper operation at no charge. All of these projects costs were many thousands of dollars and met with your expectations and satisfaction. During all those years you never mentioned any problems with the new addition or any other work done by me and or my sub contractors and you further invited friends and neighbors to your house to see the beautiful work we did for you. All work performed to the new addition met all Building Department Permit requirements. Further, you continue to recommend me to others and contract me for new work you also continued to use my sub contractors who worked on the new addition. After many years as a valued client I don't understand why you would have written this negative review when all you had to do was call me or mention these issues while I was at your house doing other work and/or arrange a time to go over the complaints and get them resolved to your satisfaction.
