I’d give no stars if I could !!! Got a delivery of wet wood. 33%+ moisture, hisses all night and doesn’t burn. Called to complain, was told Lou would call back. They have since stopped answering their phones. Clearly they are greedy and don’t care about their business. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

Buyer BEWARE!!! Ordered 5 face chord of wood and at best we received 4 face chord. I contacted the company July 27th and explained the situation and sent pictures along with measurements. Then on August 17th, I sent measurements again as requested by the owner. Here we are August 27th and no response back from Lou.

The firewood that we ordered from Northern Firewood has always been good. Always professional. Always delivered and dumped wood where we needed it dumped. Very pleased and would recommend them to people who ask.

We bought 6 cords of wood and it was at least 1 cord short!!!!  We tried to call back to order 3 more cord and maybe get some back from what they shorted us but they just increased the price to $100 a cord!  What a rip off!!!  Don't ever use this company unless you measure the cords while they are there!!!!!

Delivery truck showed up within the time window. I was home to meet and discuss where is a good place to dump the firewood. I first asked if he could deliver further up on the side of the house. He quickly went into long speech that he had been delivering firewood for over 35 yrs and that the ground was soft and he would get stuck. That made since to me and I said ok. I then offered another location right off to the side of the paved driveway, the same location where they had delivered many times before. He once again he went into his speech. After what I thought was a continuing discussion on where the wood could and could not be dumped, the driver jumped back in the truck, asked me if i had ever gotten wood from them before, and I replied yes. Then he asked if I knew where Island Road was. I told him no. He then looked at me quite upset, didn't say a word and drove off with out leaving the wood! At first, I thought where is he going, but thought better that he must be going to another delivery location to lighten his load and he would return. Instead, a few minutes later i recieved a voice message on my home phone ( caller ID: no name , no number) from the driver stating that he has already contacted the office and informed them to send me out a $50 nondelivery charge!! He went on to say this was customary for sites that could not provide a place for delivery. Then he ended in one of the most rude business statements I have every heard in 57 yrs from people in the business, "and don't ever call our business again!" I was in complete shock. I attempted to contact the office and driver immediately to resolve this misunderstanding. no answers, I left a message with no call back. Truly truly unprofessional!! Gladly, I have not recieved the bill for the nondelivery charge. The following week we contacted another firewood business in area and received quality seasoned as promised and delivered and dumped with the same size dump truck right off the side of the paved driveway, with no problems or attitude. To Northern Firewood: Don't worry I will never call your business again!

They were excellent. They have a fast delivery. Firewood called up after we placed cords of firewood from them. Their dry wood is a good product. Their wood is dry the way they advertised that is why I would use them again.

Ordered 4 cord in October , Deliverd on the 10/16/3013' finally after getting it stacked, an burning some in which it wouldn't burn. My order looked a little short , like about a cord.... I called and was told to give them the measurement and lou would call me back... But that never happened. So I called again and same response, gave them the measurements again, and was told he'd let him know.... Well it's he end of February, and never received a call....so I give up ... I use to cut wood years ago so I know what a cord is.... This is not a good business.... Well you live and learn...

I have a BS in Forestry. In high school I sold Christmas trees. In my teens I cut and split veneer log cores for my parents wood stove. When I was 18 I got my first job as a tree climber. I have worked for national, regional and local tree companies. I have heated my own home for 30 years solely with wood(no backup). I have cut and split my own locally as well as from delivered logs, I have purchased truckloads of 10 facecords seasoned and green for years. My supplier from Cortland got old and retired. I did not know this untill I called for wood this fall. I could not find other seasoned wood, so I tried here. I asked multiple times if it was seasoned. "Oh yes, 8-10 months" was the answer. My fault I should have gone to check it out, especially after they called to delay delivery 2 weeks. They delivered today, I was tied up on the phone(work). My wife told him where to dump, he would not, claiming it was too soft he would get stuck.  I am no stranger to heavy equipment and , of course, my property. Where he was asked to dump may have looked soft to him, it was not and was where years of 10 facecord loads have been dumped before, in all kinds of weather, with no problem.  So he dumped it in the drive. This 60+ old fart and wife will have to move this wood(heavy green) just to stack it. It is doubtful we will be able to burn any of it this year. The wood he brought is no better than what I have purchased in other years as green. You pay much less for green wood and expect to season it yourself for at least a year. Any effort at "seasoning" requires the wood to be cut split and stacked (preferably protected) so it has a chance to dry. 
He leaves an receipt with a little attachment that says, "We stockpile our wood outdoors on concrete pads. Please understand that since it rains and snows often during the fall and winter months, your wood may be wet when delivered. You will have to get your wood under cover and allow it to dry out for a week or so. Please note that we often season our wood in a block or log form and some of your wood may be light in color" This is a line of bunk to appease people who have rightful doubts about what they have received. Unfortunately in NY there  is no law that defines seasoned firewood. This guy has to admit what he is doing and compensate the people he is ripping off. You cannot get the BTU output from this wood, it will produce a creosote mess, cause you to have to fuss every time you need to get the fire going if you can get it going at all. I was a trusting fool, Angies list was no help. Beware! Get green wood from someone(most) who will make the distinction. 
Update: This supplier responded with the standard bunk they post on their web site.
Fact: I know more about wood than he does.
Fact: The site he said was too soft for his truck is more stable than where he decided to dump. Where he was asked to dump was the bulldozed ramp that they made when they moved my entire house. If he had dumped where asked, where everyone else has, he could not have gotten stuck. He was quite rude to my wife who accepted the load(I wouldn't have.
Fact: He did not provide "source documentation" as required by state law.
Fact: When he responded to my complaint, he only only denied and shouted over me, there was no conversation.
Fact: I stacked a face cord in my bone dry basement near my stove. It was still not usable fuel by spring. 
Fact: When I bought wood in this condition from other suppliers they sold it as green with an appropriate price

The delivery date came and went without word from the company or the delivery. When my husband called to inquire about the delivery he was told that a phone had been made to our home informing us that the truck was having mechanical problems. We received no such phone call. In addition, they informed my husband that the wood would now have to be delivered during the week before Christmas and that my husband would have to be at the house when the wood was delivered between 1-4. This would mean missing work.

We will not doing business with them this year or any other!!

We were told the wood was seasoned but it simply smokes and sizzles and doesn't burn.

they delivered at the time specified, and we actually got a little more than requested. about 25 peices extra!

Great! They even delivered more than I ordered for free.

Firewood price was most reasonable, even though they had to travel farther to get to me, when the closer company i could have bought from cost much more. Firewood was of good quality and size and delivered in a very reasonable amount of time
