I called Steve for a brick repair job that I needed done for a home sale. He was busy with other contracts, but was very helpful and gave me the name of someone who could probably help me who he would recommend. I am under a time constraint, and this was really helpful for me. He was very professional, answered his phone, and very willing to help. He was very honest with his scheduling, which I appreciated. I'd work with him again!
Description of Work: I called for an estimate. We were unable to schedule, since he was busy during my time requirement. Referred me to someone who would be able to help.

Steve did a beautiful job adding a stone veneer to our brick fireplace. I was impressed with his professionalism when he came to give an estimate; it's obvious that he loves what he does and takes pride in the quality of his work. He was able to customize our design with an arch that matched the degree of the arch on a fireplace insert that we have ordered, and worked well with our other contractor to come up with a plan to accommodate a new mantle and flooring. He and his team were punctual, polite, and as neat as could be. The job was completed as promised in just two days. We are thrilled with our new fireplace and would highly recommend Steve. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Steve and helpers were here each day on time very professional and friendly. Covered floors with plastic and cloths and hung up a room divider of plastic to close off room. They did a beautiful job of replacing the stone front of the fireplace, new mantel and hearth. We are very happy and pleased with the outcome. It looks like something you would see in a show room. They cleaned up after so well that you never would of known they had been working here for three days . We would definitely use him again... infact after the weather breaks we want a stamped concrete patio put in. He does beautiful work with this too! Thank you Steve, John and Alex.

. I did find another contractor who told me exactly the same as Steven had with the work that need to be done. This contractor was $250 less than Steven's quote and could start within the week where as Steven was booked through mid-December. Steven even followed up with me to see if I had the work done. I would highly recommend him for his professionalism.
Description of Work: I called Steven Robinson for an estimate on a leaky chimney. He came over within the day and told me I need flashing and waterproofing of the chimney. He was very descriptive with what needed to be done and quoted me a price. He asked if I would please get a few more estimates and even gave me Rochester Brick and Miller Brick to contact for estimates.

Steve came in May to give us the estimate. After a couple days we decided to go with him so we called and told him we would like him to do the work. When he gave us the estimate he told us that he was booked for a month to a month and half(which is a good sign of quality work)but when we told him we wanted him, he came within 2 days because our chimney had bricks that were not attached at all and he was worried that they might fall and hurt our kids or us(which he told us during the estimate and he said even if we did not want him to do the work to have it done asap because of the dangers). He did a great job on the chimney and when he was done he did a great job of clean up. Then around mid June he was ready to do the patio(he stayed in contact between the chimney and the patio to give us approximate start date) He showed up on time each day and stayed on schedule. It took him and his helper 2 1/2 days to complete the project. It was a lot of work and they did a great job. Steve even gave me a brochure and "how to" instructions of concrete stains because I told him I might want to stain it in the future. It was a pleasure working with Steve and when I have concrete work in the future I am going to call him.
Description of Work: Steven repointed our chimney and built a new concrete cap so it would not deteriorate in the future. He also poured a new concrete patio where a sidewalk and garden/yard was..

I had defective bricks on my chimney that were spalding. The upper 13 courses had been replaced in 2004, but several more bricks spalded over this past winter/spring. I went on Angie's List and saw the glowing reviews of Steve and a couple other people. I selected two to give me their take and estimates. Although I would have been confident selecting either, I chose Steve, and I have no regrets. He recommended that I not only replace the affected bricks ( telling me truthfully that the same problem would most likely occur with more bricks down the road, since they were of an inferior grade ), but he recommended that I have a concrete cap installed--which verified some preliminary research I had done, which also highly recommended doing that to prevent moisture rundown that could penetrate the bricks and freeze. Another precautionary measure he advised was to have the chimney sealed. I was leery of doing that because I had read some articles that said not only does that seal moisture out, it can seal moisture in. Steve took the time to give me a link to the manufacturer of the product he was recommending, which is a special kind of sealant that "breathes"--no water is trapped inside, but it will run off on the outside of the brick, rather than penetrate. After talking to the manufacturer and doing some more research, I felt confident and gave Steve the go-ahead to do that as well. Steve gave me an accurate time table as to when he could do the job, arrived that day on time, and he and his assistant were able to complete the job in two afternoons. Once Steve was up on the roof, he detected several more bricks that were affected, but he replaced those at no additional charge. He also siliconed the flashing after reinstalling it. He and his assistant made short order of the work and a great clean-up job afterward. Steve was not only a highly competent professional, he was very warm and approachable and made sure to answer all my concerns. Knowing that I still have a lot of those old bricks still remaining on my chimney, I have no doubt that down the line, I will be needing a masonry man again. Steve is the one I will call, for sure.

Very nice job!
Description of Work: I had my chimney cap replaced. I did a lot of research on how it should be done. Steven J Robinson and I1 helper did the job as I asked with a greater than 2 1/2 inch over hang of the cement cap, sloped so it would drain water away from my chimney. Very nice job!

We received Steve's name from the brick vendor. He was the first person we called for an estimate. We were extremely impressed on our first meeting and decided to just go with him. Within an hour of him leaving our house, Steve emailed a detailed estimate. Steve is polite, professional, and genuine. After our first meeting and prior to the actual work being done, we had several email correspondences to discuss the final details of the job and to schedule the dates of the job. Steve and his partner were punctual, arriving each day at the time they stated. They worked hard throughout both days of the two day job, only taking minimal breaks during the day. The work area was kept neat, and they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves--they even took the work related garbage and our personal garbage to the street corner on garbage day! The work they did was impeccable . Even though this was a relatively small job, you can tell that Steve is a true artist and professional who is detail oriented. The quality of the craftsmanship is top notch. They ran into an unexpected situation with removal of the ceramic tile surrounding our fireplace (the tile was bonded directly to the wall board, and in removing the tile the wall board came off exposing the studs--bad construction on our builders part). Steve immediately ran to a store, purchased dry wall, and fixed the problem with minimal added charge to me; while he was gone, his partner continued to work on another section of our fireplace. They were even interactive with my young children (who were very interested in what was being done). They let one of my children place a couple of the bricks. Steve's prices are fair, and his initial estimate was accurate to the true cost of the work. His detailed invoice included prices of all supplies and labor. He even offered to show us the original sales reciepts for the supplies. Steve took care of ordering and obtaining all of the supplies needed to perform the job. My wife and I were extremely impressed with Steve and his partner's professionalism, workmanship, and overall personalities. As we figure out how we want to remodel our basement, will will definitely use Steve again for any masonry that we will need performed. I will recommend him to any one I know who needs a mason. My only suggestion for Steve is that he takes before and after pictures of his work, so he can show potential customers how good he is...

I found Steven through a personal referral. He's been in the masonry field for many years, and decided to open his own business just this year. An important note, the business is fully insured (there was no place to add that information when adding the provider, but informed consumers such as myself would deem it critical information). From start to finish the experience was wonderful! I contacted Steven by email inquiring about an estimate for chimney repointing; he replied very quickly and we set up a mutually convenient time to look over the work. I thought his estimate was extremely reasonable, and decided to move forward with the project. The first available date in his schedule was ~3 weeks later; a fact I'd known before contracting the work, however I didn't mind waiting. Steven and his crew showed up promptly on the appointed day/time and did a fantastic job! They not only rebuilt the top third of the chimney but also poured a concrete cap to prevent water erosion similar to that which had caused the original damage. The entire process took about 4 hours the first day, and Steven returned early the next morning to remove the molds for the cap and seal the entire unit (~ another 2 hours). The work area was immaculately cleaned at the end of each work day; the only signs that they'd even been there was some flattened grass where the scaffold had sat, and the rebuilt chimney. Finding a contractor that strives for excellence and takes pride in their work is extremely rare. Steven happens to be one of those individuals, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have found him. I have a field stone basement that will need to be repointed within the next few years, and I will definitely be calling on Stephen's services again for that project!
Description of Work: Removed and relaid loose brick of top third of chimney (~200 pieces) and repointed remainder where needed. Built a concrete cap and sealed entire chimney.
