The part of the roof they replaced looks good but the work they did on the steps is terrible and the steps are off grade. When we put the level on the top steps the bubble is way off center. We are truly upset not only with the workmanship on the deck steps but their arrogant behavior was truly upsetting. The problem is the boss was on vacation and when we told them they had to replace the sheetrock (which we had already purchased) they said they didn't do sheetrock and refused and when we called the boss who was still at work he said to tell them that they should put the sheetrock up. This job was supposed to take 2 days with 3 men. We had only 2 men and 1 would go for lunch which took 1-1/2 to 2 hours while the other worked until he came back. This project took 4 days because they were short handed and complained more than worked.
Description of Work: 1/2 of garage roof needed to be replaced and where it is attached to house the siding on the upper half of house needed to be removed in order to add flashing and replace 1 sheet of 4x8 plywood. They also were supposed to fix the steps from the deck and secure them to the roof.

This rating was posted before our job was finished. They knew I was going to be out of the country for 10 days but were desperate to have their leak repaired, as years of neglect and improper repairs had rotted out the wall. I sent my best mechanic with a helper to remove part of a deck, roof shingles, vinyl siding, trim, underlying siding; install new low slope roof, wall flashing, felt, and new sheathing where rotten. This is work that requires multiple skills and tons of talent. When the job was finished the landing to the deck was crooked. Instead of telling my employee, who speaks fluent English, they paid for the job (less $1000) and said they wanted to talk to me when I returned. When I returned from my vacation at 6:30 AM I was catching up on emails and read this review on my way to work. I was shocked that my best employee received an F. After calling the customer, and seeing the crooked landing surrounded by our neat roofing and siding work, I agreed to return and straighten out pre-existing structure. We did the repair and were paid in full. Months have gone by and this customer has not changed the rating. I can see a 'B' or 'C' but 'F' is ridiculous. I'm now writing this review after they just called to complain that the filler on trex decking isn't a perfect match. Normally I say thank you and 'We appreciate your business'. In this case, Thanks for nothing.

During Super Storm Sandy a tree fell through a corner of our home and took out most of that corner of the roof, rafters included. They came, gave me an estimate, and tarped and shored up that corner of the house so that it would keep out the elements until a contractor could come and repair our home. They were very responsive and understanding the urgency made sure to get to me as quickly as they could. They explained what they could and couldn't do and I was very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: They put a tarp over a corner of my home where the roof was completely damaged. They also put up a support beam.

The two-man team showed up on time on the date expected and got to work immediately. They worked the entire day (including during a rainshower) to get the job sealed up. They cleaned up after themselves, completed all the repairs promised and stayed until they had also finished the replacement of the siding pieces torn off during the storm. They were hard-working, professional, and timely in their completion of the work promised. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who has a leak problem. Ours has gone on for years, and no one has correctly diagnosed it until now!
Description of Work: Since the original work done on our house was not done correctly and we had leak damage as a result, I called John O'Connell from Leak Stoppers to diagnose the problem He identified the source of a leak in a first-floor bedroom ceiling, and proposed to correct it by removing siding in the problem corner of our home's second story as well as roofing shingles. He took pictures and showed them to me on his iPad as he explained the problem. it was very helpful to be able to see what he was talking about. When his workers came, they replaced sheathing and the original siding as well as new roofing shingles. They also reattached two shingles blown off the front of our house during the hurricane as part of the job.

Leak Stoppers came to fix a leak in one of our doghouses. They had been recommended by two of our neighbors. They took pics of the issues found and fixed. It took the entire day for them to complete the work. They were thorough, professional, timely. We will have to wait to see how it goes over the next few months to see if the leak is fixed. As it stand today, we are very hopeful.
Description of Work: Ripped all existing roofing off & replaced it in the area of concern only. They also soldered the flashing around the chimney.

Mr. O?Connell called back promptly when we had questions. The work crew was prompt, worked incredibly hard all day long, cleaned up everything very well and did it all with a polite and courteous demeanor. This group worked well together and finished the job in one day. They worked hard, and the least I could do was to make them chocolate-chip cookies and provide them with many pitchers of ice water to help them get through the long hot day. We would ask them back to do more work the next time roof work is needed. We give Mr. O?Connell and his ?Leakstoppers? crew five stars.
Description of Work: In the morning, the crew 1) removed / scraped two layers of old shingles off of the tongue and groove roofing onto plastic sheets they laid down to catch the debris, 2) put all of the old shingles into waste cans, and 3) trucked off the old shingles. In the afternoon, the crew 4) laid down new tar paper on top of the original tongue and groove roofing, and 5) nailed on the new shingles, and 6) sealed around the bathroom exhaust pipe and chimney.

I called leak stoppers and within a few days they sent someone out to take a look at my roof which had been leaking into a second floor bedroom. They took pictures of all the problems on the roof and showed them to me. Within a week the roof was repaired. Matt returned to my house a few days for payment. The were very professional and easy to work with. Unfortunately I had further damage to my roof after hurricane Sandy. The roof leaked but not in any other the places that leakstoppers repaired the previous August.

Came in timely fashion for estimate. Roof had to be fixed secondary to HOA regulations. Explained the work well. Then Sandy hit, making some delays difficulty in frequent communication. Work was performed professionally, although we were not sure he had inspected it at the end. We mailed the check as he was too busy to come pick up the check.

Thank you for your business. We appreciate your feedback. Yes, Sandy did cause delays, but all work agreed to is complete as always. My 4 Team leaders and Mother Nature, inspect all work when complete and after 14 years we have fixed all (tens of thousands) leaks. The hardest part of our job is the diagnostic, that I (John the owner) complete 90% of the time (about 8 a day). Brian, my employee of over 10 years assists with leak diagnostics if I am busy or away. On rare occasion, when leaks re-occur we perform immediate warranty work (under my direction) to correct leak or in some cases, apply repair attempt fee toward a more aggresive Guaranteed solution (sometimes we try simple job to save customer $)

Excellent. After spending a small fortune to have my basement waterproofed, a nor'easter dumped a big puddle in my basement. I noticed that water was dripping from the outside of a pvc vent pipe in the ceiling, which vents to the roof, so the basement waterproofers told me i needed to contact a roofing leak specialist. I called these guys, they were very professional, did a great job, and were prompt, neat and courteous. One hurricane and two snowstorms later my basement is dry as a bone. Was it cheap? I don't think so, but I think the price was fair for the work done, and you get what you pay for. The main thing is that my roof isn't leaking! I'd use them again, they did a very good job. Thank you !!!

After the phone call for free estimate, Brian from the company showed up in a couple of days and gave me an estimate of $650. For the same job. another vendor gave me an estimate of nearly three times of that amount for replacing the entire roof edge along the garage. It didn't make any sense to me that the undamaged roof must be replaced along the damaged ones. But, Brian made it clear that there is no need to replace undamaged ones. So, I gladly accepted the estimate and offered the job. He returned six days later with an assistant. They carefully inspected the damaged shingles and replaced them for two and half hours. After they finished the job, they cleaned all debris from the roof and the ground. To my surprise, they were kind enough to repair a hole in the side shingle near the roof. So, this was an extra bonus for me. Their workmanship is totally professional. I can highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a roofing company because of their honest assessment and professional workmanship as well as very reasonable price point.

The job went extremely well. When John was going to be a half-hour late for his first visit to give an estimate, he called to say so. He made an appointment to return to do the job on a day that was convenient to my work schedule. On the day of the job, he arrived with Brian and worked with him for a half-day until he was sure that the remainder of the job would go well. The job was completed within the time estimate that John gave.
Description of Work: Located on the South Shore, I have a south-facing second-story terrace on a home a half-block from the ocean. The terrace has been leaking into the first-floor rooms for five years or so and I have had three differenct roofers "fix" the problem. Then I (finally) called Leak Stoppers. John came to take a look at the problem and, in fact, looked in places where no other roofer had ever thought to look. Then he opened the storm door leading into the second-floor bedroom and overflowed with joy at what he saw. There was rust on the INSIDE of the door. John and Brian removed the old molding around the door and reinstalled new molding and then did an overall sealing of two of my three terraces. I have waited two months before posting this report because I wanted to see what happened after a good rain. Thank you Hurricane Sandy! No leaks.

Thank you for your business and appreciation. When dealing with roofing - siding - flashing, it is often impossible to complete roofs in 1 day. When our competitors talk about finishing every job in 1 day, be careful. They are likely leaving out some important work.

We had a large opening in the side of the attic which they patched up. I averted a lot of future costs. As I said, Hurricane Sandy didn't find a way into the house.
Description of Work: THought I had a leak from the outside, turned out it was from the plumbing, but they fixed all potential problems on the side that there was the leak. When I first found out that it was from the plumbing, I was a bit ticked off; but water is funny. Then, we had Hurricane Sandy....Boy, was I glad they came over. Disasters averted!

lFrom the moment I spoke with John I knew I was dealing with a professional. I had had my roof completely replaced by another roofing company and had leaking and problems immediately. John did a thorough analysis of the roof and determined that I didn't need a whole new roof, but did need a brand new roof on the back. The other roofer had installed shingles on a roof with a low pitch. Also, he had not installed new flashing which resulted in leaking. He spent nearly 90 minutes with me, not only explaining the issues, from the failures with the copper flashing around the chimney (which was secured by silicone, which was no good) to an explanation of the problems using shingles on a low slope roof. He also took the time to explain the failures of other roofers and explained how what I had paid for my entire roof was simply too low considering the age and condition of the house and the cost of labor. Rather than trying to 'sell' his services, he was matter of fact and I absolutely appreciated his candor. He also said that he thought the other roofer had not done such a terrible job that I had to replace the whole roof. His men arrived on time and ready to work. They were polite and professional, even double-checking the detailed estimate that was provided to ensure they were providing what was asked. When they ripped off the old roofing they found large gaping holes the other roofer had simply left and shingled over. The crew even took pictures of the holes for me so I could use them in my complaint against my former roofer. it took them two days of work, 8 AM-6PM both days to complete the job. That was 1/3 of my roof. The other roofer had done the whole roof in one day. No wonder there were problems. At the end of each day there was no evidence of them having been there except of course, a solid roof. They went above and beyond, even trimming the tree that hung over the back roof. When they were done they cleaned everything up and even went so far to clean the leaves from the patio and driveway without being asked. They even replaced missing shingles on the side of the house that had nothing to do with the roofing. I am extremely happy with the service. And, if I ever need to replace the rest of the roof, I know who I will call.

After big rain storm checked up in attic for any leaks. Noticed some water coming in and wanted someone to check it out before it became a bigger problem. Called John late in the day and he returned call the following morning. He arrived at agreed time, found 3 spots that needed attention. Applied material and tar & fixed the problem. He also checked out the skylites and suggested how to make sure they stay leak free and being a new home owner he also gave me other tips regarding algae on the roof and ways to clean it. Overall nice guy and did a great job.

My husband and I inherited an atrium when purchasing our home. A short time later it started to leak every time it rained. Prior to finding Leak Stoppers on Angie's List we contacted atrium/sunroom installers and were told that they would only repair it, if they had originally installed it. We had no way of knowing this information since the atrium was installed by previous owners. Or they would gladly tear it down and replace it. Others were willing to take a shot at it, but would not guarantee that they could completely seal it to the point that water would no longer enter. Leakstoppers to the rescue! They came in and sealed each individual window pane and totally guaranteed their work. They were extremely professional and meticulous. Two days after the worked was completed, it rained and the installer Juan called my husband to check on the results. Not a drop of water! We look forward to enjoying our sunroom rain or shine.
