Great! I had received 3 estimates and Nick's was the most reasonable. I also had alot of problems with ventilation in the attic and Nick's workmen were able to open up the vents to discover that they had never been properly installed. They fixed all 16 of them. Nick was also the most honest of all the people I got estimates from. He did not try to oversell anything but outlined what needed to be done within my budget.

Nick first quoted a somewhat higher price, but then when he arrived said that he had figured out a cheaper way to do the job, and so lowered the price when I agreed with the new method. In addition to adding soffit vents, he added some insulation that he noticed was missing in small areas plus some baffles, and did not charge extra. The finished job looks fine, and there is definitely more air flow in the attic.

Excellent. Very professional service. Gave very prompt written estimate, arrived on time, did a wonderful job adding insulation and did an excellent job cleaning up the mess after. Also added 4 box vents and fire- boxed recessed lights and stereo speakers.

Insulation was added inside that was not in the original estimate with no extra charges  Nick also found that an addition to the house did not need blown insulation.  This charge was on the original estimate.  Work not done and not charged for.  Both Nick and Robert were very professional and honest on what they found and did.  So far, we are very pleased.

We were probably long overdue to get new insulation in our attic, as the house was not holding it's temperature very well upstairs. In the hot summer months we would get a very strong musty attic smell that was the worst in our baby's room. So happy we called Nick! Instantly after the work was complete, the upstairs and downstairs were the same temperature, and that annoying attic smell was gone too! He started work around 9am and was done by 1pm. Nick and his assistant worked through with no breaks, they don't mess around, they worked hard every minute they were here. You can tell that they take pride in their work. To install the soffits on the back side of the house they had to get on our patio roof (which at this point is a dry rotted green plastic type roof), and did not hesitate to do the work up there, as we have seen other contractors in the past refuse to go up there or just not complete a job because they didn't want to tangle with it. They left the house immaculate, as we have 2 young children I was concerned about old insulation bits and debris left on the floor when they left. But there was not a speck anywhere! We were so pleased with the whole experience and will recommend Nick to everyone we know who's looking for insulation and ventilation!

The job turned out great - the new insulation is at least 12" more than when the house was built. In addition to insulation, Nick and crew made sure all the roof penetrations were sealed and insulated. The house was built in 1987, I am the original owner. We had one area of the house that historically experienced ice dams. So far - that area has yet to show any evidence of ice forming - Nick was always on time for appointments - they took great care in not creating a mess and were meticulous in their clean-up.

Nick and his assistant did a great job. They wore  shoe protection, and provided floor protection where needed. They were neat, professional, and thorough. Nick took the time to any questions that I had. All work was completed in a timely fashion, as quoted. He even took care of some additional areas lacking insulation, pro bono.
I would definitely hire again, and highly recommend him to those needing insulation work.

Nick is a no-nonsense guy, and he does an outstanding job.  He was quick to return my phone call, showed up exactly when he said he would, and did a thorough inspection, expalining everything as he went along.
In brief, this is an older home (1870) that doesn't have a proper attic, but does have a few feet between the ceiling and the roof.  It lacked any ventillation in this space, and when I bought the home a few months ago the inspector recommended that soffit vents be installed.
Nick went through the house and explained how the ventilation would actually work in this structure, and recommended some box vents at various points on the roof--he gave me some options as to how many, being honest about the relative improvement from adding more, and giving me his honest opinion that I really didn't need as many as I thought I did (I was all for adding them to every slope, for example).
Obviously he was given me unbiased information, since the fewer vents I installed the less he would make--but he was clear that the return on investment diminished after a few key vents were placed, and made sure I understood why he recommended fewer.
He also tapped the ceilings to find out how the insulation seemed, and in one of the bedrooms suggested that the area above seemed to be light and should be filled in with some blown celluose (would have to rip off the roof to lay down fiberglass, since there is no attic and no access to the narrow space from inside the house at all).
He gave me a "worst case" scenario estimate, which assumed full insulation for the area of concern and the maximum number of box vents if he found problems once he started---and made it clear that the actual bill would probably be less, but wanted me to know what the maximum would be (which was still a really good value).
DAY OF THE JOB
Nick showed up on time and got straight to work:  he called me about an hour later to say that there was plenty of insulation above the bedroom, and that when he checked the other areas there was so much more insulation that it didn't make sense to put in a bunch of vents since there wasn't going to be any air flow.  He explained that I only need a few vents in strategic locations, and finished the job in a few hours.
The end result was that the job was much smaller (and thus cheaper) than anticipated.
BOTTOM LINE
Nick is an owner / operator and is on every single job.  He is scrupulously honest, explains every last thing that he is doing before, during, and after, will give you all the options and a fair recommendation as to what is most value for dollar spent.
He may be a bit gruff, but you will not find a better deal or a better job anywhere in town, I guarantee. He will be right on time, the work area will be cleaner than when he got there, the job will be done right, and  I recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for insulation / ventillation work. He's really terrific.

Nick came over to give me an estimate, and fully explained the how and why of ventilation and insulation.  He and his workers arrived punctually and went right to work.  They cleaned up as they worked and were very polite.  I would not hesitate to refer Nick for any ventilation or insulation job.

I called, Nick answered and gave me a date to come out, look at the area and give me an estimate. He was on time and gave a great estimate compared to many others. He gave me a date and time he was available to do the work and I signed the proposal. On the day he was to be here, he was early, did an excellent job, cleaned up and was very professional. He is a working owner which means a lot.
