After calling several big name service providers who told us because we weren't a regular customer and couldn't help us, we called Lang. Thankfully, they told us they would be out to our house at some point during they day (as they too were busy). The service guy arrived at 11am and promptly diagnosed and fixed the problem. He described what he was doing, and made sure everything worked fine before he left. I would highly recommend this company and after this service call will continue to use this company for all of our furnace and AC maintainence.

All things went well. There is one technician with a very good memory and remembered a leak we had a couple years prior on a pipe from the boiler that we forgot all about.

The project of installing an Energy Recovery Ventilation system (ERV) began with research by my husband. He wanted a device to bring in outside air to ventilate our home while preserving our inside temperature and not adding humidity in the summer or removing it in the cooler seasons. (Note: ERVs are not humidifiers or dehumidifiers. We have a separate whole house dehumidification system.)
Our system/installation was non-standard and needed awareness of the various ducting systems in our home. This added extra complexity to the job. It required addition of a motorized damper to prevent outside air infiltration during the winter. It also required two carbon dioxide (Not carbon monoxide!) occupancy detectors which signal the ERV to bring in outside air when the inside air becomes "stuffy". (Basic systems use a timer.) My husband wanted to connect the CO2 sensors himself but needed the contractor to run the wires through our walls. Heat Recovery Ventilators HRV are more common than ERV's in our area and carbon dioxide detectors are not normally included in residential systems.
We had good experiences working with Lang Heating and Cooling in the past so we called them first to ask if they would be willing to undertake this project. Steve, the owner, said they would work with us for this, as well as for a few other unrelated HVAC needs. Steve came and looked at all the jobs (ERV, repair of a disconnected heat duct, for which he had to search, repair of an improperly installed outdoor ventilating pipe for our furnace {which forced us to go outside to clear the air intake during severe snowstorms when it would clog and shut off the furnace}, and regular maintenance for our furnace and air conditioning systems. He promptly wrote up the jobs and provided the estimate for the units we wanted. We accepted and the job was scheduled a short time later. The workmen showed up on time, were knowledgable and finished their work in a timely manner. They returned several days later to "balance" the air flows (required for all ERV and HRVs). We did have to do a small amount of clean up after the job but it was rather minor. Overall, we are very pleased with the attention we received and the work which was done.
Several weeks later we discovered a relatively minor discrepancy with the air balancing. We discussed the issue with Steve and he promptly scheduled an additional visit - at no charge - to fine-tune our system. The workman returned and rebalanced our ERV. He was pleasant and friendly and obviously wanted to accommodate our request without question.
In short we are very pleased with the planning and execution of our complex and unique installation and also the unrelated ductwork and “fixes” for problems created by our builder’s contractor years ago. Communication with the owner was ongoing and timely. The few “glitches”, as can happen with any project of this nature, were immediately addressed without hesitation and conversations were always productive and pleasant. We felt we were working with a partner and not an adversary.
Lang subsequently sent us a survey. However, unlike many others, this one was not "canned" and designed to only allow positive responses. Instead, Lang's survey gave us the opportunity to detail our job and communicate our honest feelings about how the work was done.
In summary: We will be using Lang Heating and Air Conditioning in the future and we highly recommend them for both routine and non-standard work. It is obvious that satisfying the customer is a priority with this company.

Lang Heating and Cooling has provided high quality service for us since purchasing our home in 2010. They let us know what needs to be done without trying to up sell, even encouraging me to get quotes from other companies for peace of mind. I will continue to use Lang for many years.

The cleaning of furnace and a/c unit was under service maintenance agreement so it was no cost to me. We were having an issue with the oil furnace cycling on and off constantly - the problem was finally pinpointed and repaired. Very satisfied with the service received.

Install new 98% high efficiency furnace, bypass humidifier and programmable thermostat and central air. They also did full duct cleaning. Lennox equipment installed. From first contact / estimate to the completion of the install, everything was done timely, professionally, and with respect for my home and me. The wiring was done neatly and new lines for water and refrigerant were routed with care and clamped as required. I will use them for yearly maintenance service for sure.

Every once in awhile I was having trouble with losing heat while my furnace was running. It was blowing lukewarm air. The furnace had never been cleaned so I called Lang and we set up a date for an inspection and cleaning. The repairman was punctual, pleasant, and professional. He covered his shoes when entering my home. He answered all my questions, ran a diagnosis for CO2, etc., and cleaned the furnace by vacuuming and dusting. The problem: by my own oversight, my filter had clogged. He replaced the filter that I provided (I always have a spare). Everything else was in great shape. It was a very pleasant business transaction. I have peace of mind that the job was done well.

I called them because my furnace would not shut off. They came out within a day. When the repairman realized that he needed a part not in stock he told me he would have to come back either much later in the day or the next. He was willing to drive 60 miles round trip to get the part needed and to get me fixed the same day. I opted for the next day.
the next day he was back at the time promised and fixed my furnace right up.

Steve Stanton, owner of Lang, worked with me continuously to get the correct unit installed the correct way. That was accomplished. Steve is a laid back owner and very knowledgeable about how his business operates. I also had the pleasure of having his trades technician Eric R. working here in my home. Eric is a young man, excellent worker, and has a wonderful easy going personality.
Would I hire them again. Yes I would.

Serviceman arrived as promised and did good work repairing the AC. He was quite concerned when an unexpected problem arose and spent a good deal of time dealing with it. Many service persons might not have taken the extra time to troubleshoot, so I felt like I got real value for my money. Time will tell if the repairs hold, but for now I'm quite satisfied and will use Lang again.

They are fantastic. We have been with them for at least forty-five years. We went with him to begin with because he had given us a knowledgeable estimate. They always come in and put dust protectors on their feet. They are fussy installers and treat our home with respect. The price is quite reasonable, and it is a good value to me. They are punctual. In the years, we have been using them there has been no change in level of professionalism or quality of work.

I had just bought a home and the furnace had not been cleaned or adjusted since it was put in as far as I know. Some the systems were not working properly and needed repair and inspection. New filters were put in as well as servicing the humidification equipment.

After reading reviews on this website, we decided to go with Lang. The audit was done professionally and in a timely manner. My husband and I were included in every step which was explained in detail to us and all our questions were answered completely. We were also advised of the next steps to expect in the audit procedure. When we get the recommendations back from the state, I'm sure we will use Lang again.
