Cody was also hired to do yard work, which included mowing and weed whacking. Although the price is good, it is reasonable for quality of work, Never on time. Does not let you know on what day or at what time he will be arriving to do yard work. Never the same day from week to week. Per contract, mowing is suppose to cease 9/30. This was not the case. Weed whacking also included whaking bushes, which was not a good thing. Lawn was never racked subsequent mowing.
Starting the job, everything went well and looked terrific. Cody painstakingly placed each brick into position, using a small hand level and a rubber mallet. He did not, however, put up any kind of leveling string to help maintain the full grade, depending instead completely on his eye and hand level.
Unfortunately, as the job progressed and time constraints began to impose themselves, the quality of the work began to deteriorate and by the time he was finished the patio looked less than perfect. The mismatch between the old and new bricks is very apparent, as there is an obvious join where the basket weave pattern loses alignment between the old and the new. Partially because of this mismatch, I assume, at some point in the brick laying, the patio went slightly out of square, creating a gap between bricks that widens from nothing at the center of the patio to about two inches on the outer edge. Some this this was filled in with cut brick, but the rest was just left as a slash of brick sand. In addition, there are two low spots which now hold pools of water when it rains and look like the bricks are sinking into holes when it's dry.
Needless to say, we are not pleased. It does not look like the professional brick patio we thought we paid for - it looks like a rather bad, semi-skilled, do-it-yourself job. And although we have been very satisfied with Cody's previous work, we probably will not be using his services again in the future.
Additionally, since we had used Cody successfully in the past & have spent a great deal of money with him over the past 2 years, we felt comfortable in contacting him to ask for some form of assistance with making the patio better, without having to incur more cost. This did not go well & Cody was clear that he disagreed with our assessment of deteriorating work product throughout the course of the job.
