ave to Servpro of Jefferson County sent in a team of tho people to address the damage done in my basement by back water (sewer) backing up out of the clean-out and running along the floor though large quantities of stored household items, much like anyone's unfinished basement.  Upon arrival we asked the crew what their process would be.  The supervisor assured us that they would use a virucide/fungicide/bactericide to clean anything cleanable, and any items that were non-recoverable they would add to an itemized list as well as photographing the said item.  They would then test the structure and take any appropriate action to remediate the mold or bio-hazard threat within the structure as well as thoroughly drying the basement.
Everything seemed to go well, The crew was efficient, and hard working, and answered any questions we had, as they were working.  With my wife and kids upstairs I checked in occasionally on their progress, and at one point provided additional boxes to hold the stuff that was in boxes soggy with sewer water.  Quite a few oversized black bags of contaminated stuff went into their van as well as a twin headboard, and several hundred square feet of various carpets, from area to throws to bathroom rugs.  The crew then cut out the saturated/damp drywall, and sprayed a solution to kill mold and bacteria.  The final step was the placement of several large fans and a dehumidifier to dry out the basement.  With smiles all around they left, assuring us the insurance company would have the appropriate paperwork.  That night when I attempted to use the shower, I nearly stepped in several inches of dried sewer nastiness.  The site supervisor insisted he had cleaned it already over the phone, but when he came out the next day admitted that he had missed that area.  Two days later the insurance company was inquiring about the paperwork.  A call to Servpro of Jefferson County revealed that they could take up to 30 days to finish all paperwork.  When we finally got the paperwork two weeks later the List was missing several items, was hand-written, and very vague.
In summary, while the work itself was professional, and the service prompt, the glaring inaccuracies and unprofessional documentation made us wonder if they had disposed of anything we did not know about and thus could not be reimbursed for.  I would not have expected to have to double check after such a well known company, but fortunately I did anyway.
