Julie's Cleaning Services

According to what I presented to small claims court,  I paid $600 in May and $300 in August for 30 Hours of service.  She only provided 18 hours of service.  Some days she would simply clean for an hour and then other days she simply did not show up.  The courts awarded me $360 for the lack of services, and $20 for the court fees.  She has been given 30 days to repay those fees, and as of 1/5/15 has yet to pay.

I was really excited to hire Julie.  We have a newborn, family visiting and had recently a lot of construction work done on our house.  I was referred from someone in the area.  She came to our house to do a visual walk through and estimate, pointed out ALL of the things she would be cleaning.  She seemed nice and on point.  We walked through the whole house, every room.  She informed me 3-4 people would be showing up to complete this job.   We paid her up front (my mistake, will never do again), signed a contract, and waited for the scheduled cleaning day.  My first clue to not use this service should have been the fact she quoted me a price and then jacked it up when contract and payment was due (but I must have misunderstood...)

Cleaning day arrives, TWO girls show up to do the job (mind you, we were promised 3-4).  They start upstairs around noon.  They are up there for four hours.  Our house is around 1600 sq feet.  Not huge, not tiny.  For spending four hours upstairs, I think they must be doing a really thorough job.  They make their way downstairs, and in about 2 hours they are done... with the entire downstairs! These two girls were extremely nice, trying to do a great job until Julie must have reached out to them, telling them to hurry up and the whole downstairs is basically skimmed across. 

Julie pointed out that furniture would be moved, dusted behind, radiators would be cleaned behind with a tool she had to do the job (big selling point for me as we just had a lot of work done on my house), bathrooms scrubbed, stove scrubbed, carpets resolved and cleaned, we were paying for the whole nine yards (at nearly $400, that's what I expected). 

No furniture was moved, there was grease still all over the oven hood (which SHE pointed out would be cleaned).  Carpets were only vacuumed, no resolve used, none of the blinds were wiped off, our dog bed that lays on the carpet wasn't even moved to vacuum under. Once they left, my husband could literally scrape off soap scum easily that they didn't clean off in bathrooms.

The next issue is what really irritates me and exhibits the extreme lack of professionalism in this company.  Julie speaks to me on the phone before the girls leave, I inform her that there is still a lot of debris behind the radiators.  She tells me that they did the best they could.  I could literally reach back and grab things with my own hands.  They didn't bring any specific tool to clean this like she had said.  She says she can come look at it to see if she can fix it.  I get off the phone with her. 

After realizing that we paid an arm and a leg to have our house cleaned, my husband decides to call her back.  She lets him know that it was the wall paper guy's responsibility to clean behind the radiators.  Um.. hello? We hired YOU to clean our house.  How is it some other persons responsibility to clean something that you said you would clean? It made absolutely no sense!!! She then claims to tell him the girls had been there too long, the house was dirtier than she thought, and that she never told me she would send 3-4 people.  It was her fault for sending too few of people to do the job and then getting angry that they had been there longer than she hoped and she was losing money.  Guess what, Julie herself did a visual walk through.  Not my fault you can't quote your business correctly.  My husband told her that we possibly wanted to use her when we moved out.  She fires back, "How do I even know you will do that? People say that all the time."  Wow, professionalism at its best.  He simply asked her to come by and look at the work.  She informed us said she would call the following week.  Guess what? NO CALL.   Too many issues to list here.  Stay far away from this company unless you want to fork out a ton of money and have so-so clean house.  Learned our lesson the expensive way. I had a lot of people that were waiting to see how this cleaning went and a lot of recommendations that could have been offered and the customer service and quality absolutely ruined it.   I normally don't leave such harsh reviews on anything but this was the worst service I've ever had.  No one else should be taken advantage of.

We used Julies Cleaning Services to do a deep clean on our 2500 square foot house prior to selling it. I initially thought she was a bit pricey but decided to go with her off the strength of a friends recommendation. Her team is in demand, ours was the third job of the day (before 9 o'clock in the morning), the other two being restaurants. Her team of four hit the ground running as soon as they got here and worked nonstop all day. Their stamina is impressive, and they maintained friendly good cheer throughout a long day. They displayed a military level of attention to detail...our house is inspection ready by any standard. The spots on the carpet from three kids-gone. Windows sparkle, moldings gleam. Every square inch of the house shines, including the inside of the refrigerator. Julie herself checks every bit of work that her team does, ensuring it meets her high standards. The bottom line is that they are worth the price and we wish we would have found them sooner!
