I have used Red cedar on many occasions and spent over thousands of dollars with this company over the last 10 years and to be treated this way was totally uncalled for. When you came out here i explained i wanted the left side overgrown area cleared away - now the are to be cleared was right smack in the middle of the fence that separated my back yard from front yard and why the **** would i only ask you to remove the overgrown area only on the left side of the fence and at that there was very little on the back yard side of the yar it was all growing from the same weeds that grew in between the fence so it was all part of the same bush. Also, the day we met you told me it could be done one day the following week and when i complained to you because i felt YOU WERE RIPPING ME OFF when you said you know have to charge me more because i sent you an email just confirming the working out REALLY I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY NOR WILL I EVER RECCOMEND THEM AND I PLAN ON LEAVE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON EVERY SINGLE SOCIAL WEBSITE I CAN TO WARN OTHER POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS ON HOW YOU AS A SALESPERSON IS A RIP OFF AND BUYER BEWARE. To Steve, there is a book you should have all your employees read its called Satisfaction and its from JD POWERS and there are 3 types of customers and one is someone that will be an ambassador - someone who will preach how well your company is and what great customer service they have and potentially get you more customers by word of mouth (That was me NOT NO **** MORE) Then there is the one that will not say anything either way Lastly there is the negative customer (can't remember the name they used) now this customer if left unhappy due to a BAD employee (such as Mike Mccarthy) and this customer will spread how his or her experience was with this company and will leave reviews as many places as possible and in the long run will hurt a business all because of one bad apple in your company and please do not take this as a threat but i do plan on leaving my experience that i had on any site that will let me leave a review about Red Cedar as possible!!! Mike thanks for ruining a very good relationship that i had with Red Cedar because now i will NEVER USE YOU PEOPLE Now i am also due to have a lot of work done by Sav a tree which i am ow rethinking my whole decision doing so and will be looking for some other quotes now due to this action your employee has imposed Mike should not be working for you people i have read on several occasions that he has been bad and everything and yet he is still an employee - sad

I was extremely happy and impressed with the service, the workers, and the process. It was never a burden to have them working in the yard; they were courteous, professional, creative, and they did what they could to meet my needs at all times. I immediately referred them to my next door neighbor and they had an equally positive experience. I will continue to use Red Cedar for all of my outdoor projects.

Red Cedar is very professional, very reliable and easy to work with. They re-graded my backyard, built stone walls and were able to solve some grading/slope challenges other landscape architects could not. I only rated price a B because they are not the lowest nor the highest cost provider. They are appropriately costed for the quality. Highly recommend.

It went smoothly. Red Cedar followed up when it was time to, or if something on the property wasn't working. I felt well cared for.

The owner, Mike, showed up and gave a rough estimate on site and I asked he provide a written estimate (intending to hire them) at which point he said he would provide it by the end of the next day. He never provided it. We waited a week and followed up with him via email and a phone call. He never returned our calls or email and he never supplied the estimate. His total lack of response shows a total lack of respect and was unprofessional. Now having seen similar reviews on this site I see it is a pattern and as such I would neither hire them nor recommend them.

Things went pretty well...
I used Red Cedar once before for very similar service and was pleased, so I called them again for this job.
Things went pretty well this time too. Michael Barker came to do the quote, he looked over the job a bit quickly, and we didn't discuss a couple of things as completely as I would have liked.  Michael didn't ask what I wanted to do with the wood from the trees that were cut and I didn't think to bring this up either. I think I would have preferred to keep some of the wood for firewood, but the subject never came up, and the wood ended up being taken away (I was not at home at the time the work was done). I also mentioned to Michael that I might want to do some additional work later on a retaining wall and landscaping, but he didn't seem very interested in discussing this.  I've since hired another contractor to do some of that work.
The actual work was done pretty well.  The tree removal, stump grinding and trimming were well done, my one criticism being that the crew dragged some large pieces of the cut trees across my lawn tearing out some of the turf. They could have been a bit more careful with this.
They called me in advance when the stump grinder was to come (done on a separate day from the tree cutting), but I didn't get a call before the tree work was done, but that might have been my fault, I remember my answering machine filled up sometime around then and they might have tried and failed to leave a message.  The stump grinder left large piles of chips, I called to ask about this and they sent someone out the next day to remove them (I'm not sure if they were planning to do that already, it required separate equipment from the stump grinding).
Overall, the removal of 2 dead trees, trimming another tree, and chipping a pile of brush and grinding out 2 stumps went well.

The Red Cedar team was fantastic!  I highly recommend them to others.  They were professional, quick and meticulous cleaning up after the job was completed.  They exceeded my expectations.  Their price was also 1/3 less than a competitor quoted me for the same work.  I will definitely use them again in the future.

I first contacted this company on 5-21 and then tried again on 5-28 and was told on they were waiting on an estimate and that Mike Barker would follow up. I was not contacted on 6-2 and advised they could not provide the service.

The new treatment for our trees will start shortly but the last time we used Red Cedar - a year or two ago - they took out an enormous oak tree that was right next to the house.  I always get quotes from a few places when I have to remove trees and, as usual, Red Cedar was either the lowest or right in the ballpark.  Since there was no urgency, an appt was set up a couple of weeks later.  In the past, when a tree needed to be removed immediately (like the time a big tree had fallen across our driveway) they were there the next day to take care of it.  The actual removal of our oak was professionally done (amazing to watch, actually) and the crew was careful not to allow their heavy equipment to make marks on our lawn.  Afterwards, they effectively cleaned up the area where they'd worked and took the tree with them.  I had to the option to keep the tree but I had no use for it.  Red Cedar is insured and easy to deal with.

Called red cedar, spoke with technician about spraying our property for ticks. He made an appointment then never showed (after we waited all day). Never called either. No show, no call. Very disappointed.

Time was a factor as the house is being prepared for sale. Red Cedar was able to get us on the schedule within a few days of the initial site visit. The site visit was the same day as my first phone call. John and Pete did excellent, professional work. They protected an active bird's nest and pruned around the nest.

This company was a finalist at one point, until I had another arborist actually look at the tree needing branches removed and discovered it was rotted at the base and back of the tree. Prior to this, I had asked for a written estimate on line, since I had not received one, and the written estimate was for $2900 not the $2500 quoted, with $175 for bracing versus the originally quoted $150. Several of those bidding on my job changed their verbal estimates to much high numbers when told to provide a written estimate. When I sent an e-mail saying I was not going to use Red Cedar, he then decided I could have the discounts. I declined.

Tom the arborist came out for an estimate having some trees removed and
they were actually our first choice. HE really knew what he was talking about, did not sell us on unnecessary stuff and we both felt really good about giving Red Cedar our business. Extremely professional, timely and
very thorough. He is honest and fair.
Two weeks later, after
several more estimates from a couple of different companies one of the
trees came down on the house! NEedless to say, we contacted whoever had
given us an estimate and the job went to whoever called us back the
fastest out of our top picks. To be fair, it was the weekend and we
couldn't reach most of the companies.
We will be using red cedar in the future for our other tree service needs.

Not that well. The wall was supposed to be completely taken apart and rebuilt correctly. It was not completely taken down and was rebuilt from the existing base. More stone was to be supplied by Red Cedar to complete the job but they didn't bring any. After they thoght the job was done I had to call then back and tell them the job was not acceptable. The top was very uneven because it neede more stone. Then they brought stone of a different color and laid it on topof what they had already done rather than working it into the wall as the rebuilt it. The wall is better than it was originally but the quality of the job was disappointing for the price. I would not hire them to do another stone wall.
