The Village Animal Clinic

This clinic has gone down hill. My family had always trusted their service with our 2 German shepherds and cat. Recently our cat had been feeling ill and we brought him here on several visits over the last week to determine the cause. We were told it “could” be several non life threatening issues, from pancreatitis to gas. The last night we brought him here they gave him a shot for gas and sent him home, specifically saying that our cat was healthy and not dying. At 5am the next morning our cat was not better so we took him to capital region vet hospital. He was put down due to sepsis from a ruptured organ and his abdomen and stomach had filled with bacteria and puss. He also had a tumor on his spleen. ALL of these went unnoticed by the doctor, despite xrays and an ultrasound. They cost us our cats life, he was only 12. I will never trust this vet with another animal. I also have a friend with two dogs. One dog started acting aggressively towards the other dog so she visited this vet for advice. Instead of searching for a solution they instructed my friend to put the dog down and gave her no other advice. She has since arranged for the dog to move in with a woman in Buffalo who has no other dogs in the family. Talk about a lack of compassion. Will never come here again and I suggest the same to whoever reads this post.

Cancelled appt told needed half up front and the other half at pick up which was ok but then was told the other half could range from 500.00 to more we are talking ex rays not surgery the vets are knowledgeable but the rest of staff could careless and very rude to speak with. One person tells you one thing then another tells you that's not how it works.

They have been fantastic over all of these years. I usually have an appointment when I go, they are very loving and caring doctors.

We've seen 2 different doctors for various things and a number of their technicians. All of them are very good with the animals I have big dogs and big dogs sometimes bother people. They are not at all concerned with the size and handle them very well. They are informative to us and we like their philosophy of how they treat the animals.

Complimentary ear cleaning, nail trimming. Dispensing ear medication. They do not push immunizations that are not needed. No boarding, no grooming, is kennel cough really required? I followed this practice when it went out on it's own.

I have two cats and a dog. I have been with Dr. Michael Mc Carthy and Dr. Holly Cheever for many years and I would not go any where else!! Erin and the other receptionists are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The assistances are kind, efficient and always willing to answer your questions! The entire practice is well run, clean and they truly care about the well being of your pet. I love how I can go to pick up supplies and they will ask, by name, how all my pets are doing!
I highly recommend this practice. They truly care about your pets and will work with you to provide the very best for them. I like how they always include you in the process and explain things so you really understand your options. I never feel pressured and I always feel part of the decision making process!! I really respect the good work they ALL do!! Thank you....I would never go anywhere else!

There aer no better veterinarians anywhere than these two. Dr. Holly Cheever is a renowned animal advocate who has spoken out for the rights and humane treatment of animal sfor many years. She is an excellent veterinarian with broad knowledge of her field and considerable experience, and she has a humane, considerate and attentive way with the animals AND their human companions. I would recommend her very highly to everyone looking for optimal care for their animals. Dr. Michael McCarthy is an excellent surgeon and is also a kind, humane and comfortable doctor for the animals. He explains everything carefully and follows up on any questions you might have. They are both the best veterinarians anyone could want. I have been going to them for 13 years now and my animals couldn't be happier with them, nor could I.

It is by far the best veterinary clinic I have ever been to. They are fantastic. All the staff there are amazing. We just had totally positive experiences with them in every way. They have taken care of our panther chameleon. It is very rare for them to see exotic animals. They are very reasonably priced. The office is immaculate. They treat you very well. When one of our animals passed, they sent us a sympathy card and everything. There is not a single thing I could say bad about them. They are awesome.
