Over the summer, my husband & I located (not through Angie's List) and contracted with an advertised roofer, Shawn Orcutt, to supply the materials and labor for the re-roofing of two small roofs on two separate houses we own. At the time of signing, $2200 was remitted to Mr. Orcutt in order to allow him to purchase all materials for the contracted project with the labor costs to be paid upon the completion of each roof. This check was cashed on the day of signing, but after many delays, excuses and one morning's work partially tearing off one of the two roofs (the non-leaking side, as it happens, and leaving it exposed to the elements), followed by a series of no-shows, my husband suggested that Mr. Orcutt deliver the promised materials (which he had claimed to already have purchased) and we'd go from there. Mr. Orcutt hung up, refused to return phone calls and has been incognito ever since. No monies were returned and the roofing was done by another. Mr. Orcutt claimed to do other forms of construction work, so homeowner beware.
