Myrph's Dog Training

Myrph is an amazing person. We adopted our dog from the front street dog shelter in the beginning of December. He was 10 months at the time. He was a good dog but definitly ran the household, some of this due to the fact we lost our dog of 9 years very suddenly due to a stroke in November. Our new dog Buddy was allowed to sleep on the furniture and in our daughters bed, he would beg for food and was difficult to walk as he constantly pulled. He was also beginning to bark at other dogs if he saw them on the street. We realized we needed some help and signed up for a 5 week course with Myrph. She showed us how to relate to Buddy and teach him that we were the leaders. She is very kind but knows when and how to be stern. I cannot say enough about how happy we are with the new Buddy. He stays off the furniture and beds and is so well behaved. Having him in class with the other dogs really helped to socialize him too. The best part is he listens and responds to commands. He comes when called and will go and lay in his bed when we eat dinner. If we put him in a down stay, he actually stays! We are planning on attending some agility classes with Myrph in the future.

I got her number while taking a walk; ran into other people with well trained dogs who said they went to this school. They all had good things to say to say and so do I now! She's not against food inducement, but she doesn't start using treats until 4 weeks into training. She works on building the relationship between you and the dog - Once the dog has accepted you as leader, then you can start using treats. She's obviously very knowledgable. She's been training for over 30 years and participated for 2 years in the study of wolves in the wild, which helped her understand canine behavior. She's very hands on and firm. She's taught us to do this and do it well!
