I can report that Joel refunded my downpayment, and I appreciate that It looks like Joel had some business difficulties and I wish him the best in getting his company back on track.

Joel had previously done 2 roofs for us...fair price, great communication, professional work. Due to the positive experience, we contracted with him for a bathroom renovation. Totally different experience this time. Lack of communication, subpar workmanship, project mismanagement. After 9 weeks we finally told him we wanted to terminate the project. Our deposits amounted to more than the work that was done. Tried to work out a refund of our money with Joel, couldn't agree on an amount. Decided we would accept his number just to be done with the situation, haven't heard from him since. Got a lawyer involved, Joel said he would respond within 14 days, but we haven't heard from him. We will be taking him to small claims court.

very well. Workers showed up on time. Worked very hard until job was done. They did a great job and the roof looks great. Cleaned up after the work was completed and made sure everything was picked up and cleaned.

Outstanding! Joel was an expert at replacing siding that had fallen from the top of my house. He was calm, polite, and thorough with his work. I would hire him again in a second if or when I might need more work done. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing home repairs.

Joel has been very professional in responding to my request. He was very courteous and responsive. I felt he was very clear and transparent in explaining what is needed and what the detailed costs were in the formal estimate (compared to others that I also solicited). In fact, after opening the roof he mentioned that a couple of other plywood pieces were rotten which needs replacement not quoted in the first estimate. I did not anticipate the extra cost but was satisfied with his detailed explanation. I would surely reconsider him for future work

Joel, the owner, was responsive, timely, and considerate of our input and many questions. We'd an easygoing exchange between us throughout the process, which was not a lengthy one, as his efficient crew worked energetically till nightfall to complete the work staying just ahead of the impending rainfall. Joel has a good eye for detail and was present to assess his crew's work throughout the day, which further reinforced our appreciation of him, which helped keep us relaxed throughout the project. Additionally, as the cost was competitive, we're certain that when the need for a contractor presents again in the future, we'll call Ventura Contracting for whatever project we find we need help with.

Joel and his employees were an absolute joy to do business with. Any time we had questions or concerns they immediately stopped work to address them. When we had a question on something we thought was an issue during the weekend, Joel interrupted his weekend, packed his kids into the car and drove to our house to address the situation !! The quality of work was outstanding, and any time there was a concern on their part about something they feel was needed they spent as much time as needed to explain the options. At the end of each day they were here they were absolute "clean freaks" making sure every little piece of roofing, nails and garbage were cleaned up before leaving. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat and really enjoyed their commitment to doing a professional job on my roof.

Joel was a true professional from day one. He came and did a thorough inspection of our roof. He reviewed with us our options and provided us with information about roofing and the choices we had. He was quick on providing us with an estimate at a fair price. The crew that installed our roof was professional and friendly. When I had questions or concerns they were quick to address them. They installed our roof and completed other requested work in a little over a week. Joel personally came back to address a concern we had with a downspout. Job well done. The work went well despite rainy weather. Cleanup at the end of each day was good. Joel is personable and responsive to questions and requests. He was present for much of the work performing some of the work himself. Work on the roof was fast. The house has much better curb appeal. I had a garage full of construction debride from interior remodeling that I did. Joel offered to haul it away at no cost to me. His workers loaded it into his trailer. Much appreciated.

Joel is very professional & easy to keep in touch with. He doesn’t leave you hanging & wondering when he’s showing up like some contractors do after they lock you into a contract. I run a business out of my home & was worried it would be difficult for families to access my entrance. The crew stopped & made a safe path to my door anytime needed. The masonry needed to be postponed due to rain, so I was nervous about how long it would take them to return but they came the next clear day & finished up. I would recommend J. Ventura to anyone I know!

The project was a complete success. I hired J Ventura Contracting to make a few changes to my home as well as update the flooring, kitchen cabinetry, and replaced my roof in preparation to selling my home. Joel was able to find the most economical, without sacrificing quality, route to finish the interior work needed to be done. Joel and his guys were efficient, provided great quality of work, and Joel really worked with me in ways that I didn't think a contractor would consider such as fixing miscellaneous things here and there that were not part of our original contract and did not charge me for them which I highly appreciate. J Ventura Contracting was very accommodating and patient with me even though I can be hard headed at times. I highly recommend using J Ventura Contracting for your remodeling and roofing needs. AAA service in my book.

I was fortunate to find J. Ventura Contracting through Angie's List. I originally planned to have a section repaired. Joel gave estimates for a repair or complete replacement of old shingles. I decided to go with the larger job instead of doing it piece-meal due to the reasonable cost. The crew members were friendly and did a good job with cleanup. I would definitely consider hiring them again.

Joel was lovely, savy, knowledgeable. I was extremely patient with his "workers" and him. One of his workers stole $140 out of my wallet from my purse on my bed. I have the ATM withdrawal receipt from that morning. I didn't report it because I felt sorry for the kid. It was also found that said worker was in trouble for stealing from his girlfriend's grandmother. That's when Joel believed me. He doubted me up to that point. His workers were roofers and admittedly had never done home remodeling. It showed. Because of the damage to my home and the threat to my pets (he left my gate open and dog escaped, 2 indoor cats fell through a screen not placed properly - FINALLY retrieved}. He did not finish on the date that he promised. He graciously removed the remaining balance of $1400 (questionable as I peruse the invoice). When I confronted him recently when I found out that my plumbing was not up to code, he resent the balance of the invoice to me (not showing that he waived that amount) and threatened to put a lien against my home and sue me for slander. I've not said a word to anyone because I'm scared to death. I'm trying to reach Angie's List. I've been unsuccessful. They recommended him. The next person may not be as strong as me. His work is horrible. I have pictures.
