Horrible. We ordered a kitchen countertop with an OG edge (OG cost extra) from FMI on 12/28/2023, for our home project that started on 2/19/2024. After waiting weeks for FMI to come in and install a relatively small kitchen countertop: one guy finally shows up, installs the wrong edged material in the peninsula, realizes the rest of the material was measured and cut incorrectly, and just leaves. We didn’t find out what happened until 5:30pm that evening, when my mother got home from work and called me to ask why nothing was done right - including no OG edge, for which we paid extra. They had one job and got it completely wrong on day one. What’s worse is that the construction workers did not go in that day, to give the countertop installer enough room to work (it's a small kitchen). So, an entire day of the project was completely wasted. We then wait another 2 weeks. Less than two days before they’re scheduled to come back for the installation, we get a notice that they suddenly cannot make this date work and are “going to try to come in next Tuesday or Wednesday.” Going to try. Next Tuesday OR Wednesday. At this point, FMI has single-handedly delayed a project that should have wrapped up in 3 months (end of May 2024). All other vendors we worked with got everything in on or before schedule. In total, we have spent weeks waiting for FMI to deliver on a project they assured us was well within their scope of expertise - of course, however, not before taking our payment upfront. And we’re still waiting.

While the price was good and everything started out well, it went to h*** very quickly the day of the installation. The owner of the company, Pat, was the one who came and did all the measurements and template for my bathroom countertop. The quality of the granite is not the issue. The owners attitude and his unprofessional manner are the issue. I had scheduled two appointments with them to install the granite, but I had to have my original countertop removed before they could install the new one, they would not remove the original countertop even though I had asked for that in my estimate. I cancelled the first appointment b/c I could not get the original countertop removed by the time they would get there. I rescheduled for the 10th August 2012 and told Tina, the manager, that the appointment had to be in the afternoon. There was nothing but an argument from her on the time, I said there was no way that I could do it in the morning b/c I was having the original countertop removed that morning and I needed until early afternoon to get it done. She was reluctant to schedule me in the afternoon, but gave me a 12PM appointment. She called me the day before the install and said they needed to move the appointment and said to me, 'oh from what I remember you said you could do it first thing in the morning, correct?' I repeated that I had said no and needed an afternoon appointment. I finally got a 3PM appointment for the 10th. Well on the 10th I get a call from the owner, Pat, that they installers were running early and wanted to come by 1pm. I called him back and said I was at home and they could come now. He said he would call them and let them know to come right away. Ten minutes later, Pat calls me back stating that they could not make it now and that they were on the road and would be there by 3PM. Well at 3:45PM when no one has shown up nor called, I called Pat back to find out where they were and got an earful. He started screaming and cursing at me, saying he never said they would be there by 3pm and who the f'n h*** do I think I am calling him demanding to know where they were. He called me several names on the phone and continued to scream at me that his installers were working and would get there when they got there to do my job. After being called an f'n so and so more than enough times, I hung up on him. The installers showed up 15 minutes later and said that he had called screaming at them and I basically told them that if my original countertop had not been taken off and wasn't in two pieces right now, I would have called FMI and cancelled the order and sued them for my deposit back after the way I was treated on the phone by their boss and owner. I have never in all the years of dealing with contractors been treated so badly by an owner or service provider. I will never give them a recommendation or use them again.
