Very pleased that I used Angie's List to select Aqueduct. Tom was the technician and he was very quick to diagnose the problem. Had 2 other plumbers prior to Aqueduct and neither had found the real problem.

The information given on the Angie’s List posting should state the size of the house it’s being installed in. I had to be switched up to a larger model which cost additional money. It ended up being significantly more than other models I had researched. They were here for around 9 hours and I know that it was not an easy job. I do feel like I got good value for the money that I spent. They were pleasant, professional, and very neat and clean with their work. I don’t feel like I was ripped off I just wish I had known prior to. I would still recommend them to others.

The proposal on the new water boiler was much higher than competing offers. They also tried to sell me a water boiler that was much more expensive and higher capacity than I needed for the size of my house. I had an issue with the capacity of my old water boiler (it didn't keep water hot for long enough), and the solution Aqueduct gave was to buy a larger one. However, another plumber identified that the issue was actually due to the age of the old boiler and the fact that the previous plumber had installed the inflow/outflow pipes incorrectly, which significantly reduced capacity. When I told the other plumber the boiler size recommended by Aqueduct, he claimed it was much too large and would have been appropriate for a house that was nearly double the size of mine. I went with the other plumber's proposal, and the installation was considerably cheaper and it is working great. Therefore, if I had gone with Aqueduct, I would have paid considerably more for a boiler that was much too large for my needs. I was disheartened that the service consultant from Aqueduct recommended a product that would have been beyond what I needed, and probably higher margin to them.
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate on a new water boiler.

The original estimate you requested was for a tankless water heater back in February 2014. You had mentioned to me that you had wanted a larger water heater with high recovery time to accommodate your large bath tub on the 2nd floor and be able to do a load of laundry at the same time. You also mentioned that you planned to have children in the near future and that you didn't want to ever run out of hot water again. The best way to achieve the amount of hot water and for me to guarantee you would never run out of hot water was with a high recovery water heater. I also gave you an estimate for installing a standard natural gas AO Smith water heater with a 10 year warranty which would have been a direct replacement for the water heater you had existing, which was past its life expectancy. You were given three options based on the lifestyle you wanted to achieve. I looked back at the option sheet I gave you and there is nothing there for $5,000.00. With the direct replacement for the Standard natural gas AO Smith water heater with a 10 year warranty which includes a new shut off valve, gas piping and removal of tank; your investment would have been $2,768.00. I feel you must have got us mixed up with another plumber that gave you that estimate. Please feel free to call our office so we can straighten this out.

We added a new master bedroom suite to our house in 2011. We bough very expensive bathroom fixtures from the Italian maker Zucchetti which are apparently supposed to last for lifetime. Over the last 2 months the hot water flow from the shower head was extremely poor and we had to use the kids bathroom in the meantime. The Aqueduct employee diagnosed the problem - a broken shower mixer cartridge . We did not get any help from the fancy shop in the city where be bought the fixtures . " Call the manufacturer in Italy" was their response. The Aqueduct employees including the service desk were extremely helpful - they located a supplier of Zucchetti products in the USA , ordered the part for us and fixed the shower immediately upon its arrival.

Furnace is close to 14 years of age, weil mclain. I noticed the heat was not turning on, checked the pilot light was out. Followed the instructions from the furnace on how to light the pilot and to keep it lit. Tried several times, it would light, but would not stay lit. Also saw a small puddle of water which was strange. The next morning, called at 7:30am and Cindy answered the call. They posted that they were open at 7:30am and someone was there. Advised that I needed someone to check on the furnace and asked how much. Was quoted $99 for a diagnostic of the furnace, before actual work can get started and that would be additional. While on the phone, was checking Angie's list and noticed they had a coupon for a $29 diagnostic test and bought it on the spot and gave it to her. It was a Friday morning and she sent Michael the technician to arrive between 10-1pm. Indeed he arrived a little after 10am. Unfortunately I was at work and all the communication would be by phone. After the diagnostic, Michael advised that I needed a thermocouple to fix the pilot light and a flout type air vent to stop the leak. He advised the prices and asked if i would like to fix the issue, i said yes. After about an hour, he called again to let me know that job was done, then proceeded to let me know that "with" a service contract for one year, the parts/labor would get 15% off. He did the math and i said ok, to getting a service contract as it would probably cost me close to the same had i not gotten a contract to service my central air conditioning as the heating season was ending and cooling season was to begin. I had my wife check the heating to ensure it was working throughout the home. After giving the 15% off and listing all the items etc., i promptly paid with my credit card. At this point, i was happy everything was done professional from the first phone call to work that was done and the thank you call i got, even after the job was completed. A couple of things to note. I wasn't there to "see" the booklet and pricing. And since I'm not familiar with the prices of these products, thermocouple, flout type air vent, i really don't know if it's a fair price or industry priced, etc, as i have nothing to compare it to. Of course I accepted the price as it was going to be the weekend without heat and didn't want to call another serviceman, since Michael was there. However he seemed trust worthy and legitimate and had the work done. The other note was the receipt, when i arrived home, I noticed the cost was not correct. I was billed for the parts, less 15%, plus the new service contract and $29 diagnostic test (which I already paid from Angie's List) and the tax on everything. I called next day on Saturday to confirm the receipt. Veronica picked up and was very professional and courteous in handling my concern. Although she is unfamiliar with the matter, she took all of the information to provide it for Cindy to handle the invoicing Monday morning. Monday morning, I received a call from Cindy advising that the error was corrected. I should not have been charged for the $29 diagnostic test and should not have been charged extra for the tax on the new service contract and on the $29. She apologized for the error, which i didn't mind as my wife had spoke to Michael who was knowledgable with his work but not familiar with the companies billing as he was new (4 months in). Later in the week, i received a courteous call regarding my furnace and advised Aqueduct that it was working fine. While on the call, i scheduled a diagnostic test on my central air unit before the season starts. Overall, i thought everyone involved were courteous, respectful and professional and definitely listened to my concerns. I would recommend them to assist with your HVAC and plumbing needs and the fact that they worked on Saturdays is a plus.
Description of Work: My pilot light would light, but would sot stay lit in my furnace. Replaced thermocouple and flout type air vent as the pilot light wound not stay on and there was a small leak.

I read your review and reviewed it with the Technician that gave you the estimate. He understood that you only wanted AC but the Fujitsu ductless unit only comes in AC and Heat at 9000 BTU’s and lower. You needed a larger system for your home. They do not make just AC in that size as he explained to you. We are dealers for the Fujitsu ductless system. He said he would be glad to give you an estimate on any system you would like. You never mention that you would like to do that. Yes, the price was without electrical. We are a plumbing, heating and cooling company. We are licensed, bonded and insured for plumbing, heating and cooling. We are not a licensed electrical contractor and that is why we are not able to take out a permit with your town to do the electrical work in your home. We can recommend a licensed electrical contractor that we work with.

Aqueduct Services, Plumbing, Heating & A/C was just super. We couldn't get anyone to come out here during the horribly cold winter we had, even the last company we used, but he called us right back. He found the bad piece, but he would have to order it and wait for it to come in and it was very cold. So he decided to see if he could clean up the piece and get it to work again. It ended up working like a charm and he did not have to get that part. He got it done right there. He was nice. He was personable and genuine, wanted to get the job done and was professional about it. We were his last stop of the day and it was freezing out, but he took the extra time right then to get our system working again, before he went home to dinner. He didn't get home until 9:00 or 9:30. He was thorough and got the job done and made sure we had heat. He was terrific. There's nothing about him that wasn't terrific. We will absolutely be using him in the future.
Description of Work: He repaired our broken heating system. We have a large house and each floor has its own heating and cooling unit and the heating in both the second and third floor wasn't working at all.

BE AWARE: IT WILL COST MUCH MORE THAN YOU WILL BE LED TO BELIEVE: Techs arrived on schedule and were very pleasant. I had been alerted that I would be charged $80 for the techs to show up, but this quickly grew to $160 simply to provide an estimate. (I wonder why I wasnt told this when I placed the initial call.) To get to this point, two people were here for less than 45 minutes. The estimate came in for an additional $295 (plus tax) for a total of roughly $450. (Please note that the techs also looked at a different problem on the same sink--the cold water faucet clunked when turned off--a problem that started suddenly fairly recently. The explanation was that we needed a pressure solution in the basement. This makes no sense as the problem occurs ONLY on this valve and no other location in the house.) Given that I was going to pay people I didn't trust $450 to replace a part they said cost $135, I decided to end the call.
Description of Work: Provider arrived, inspected the problem and provided a quote, which was unacceptable.

To start to answer to your response Veronica stated to you when you called “That there is a $79.50 dispatch fee and that we will apply the $79.50 dispatch fee to any work you decide to do today” When the Technician arrived at your home he saw that you had a designer faucet. He then told you that it would be $152.00 to diagnose the problem and you agreed for him to proceed. With the designer faucet the Technician has to take everything out of the faucet and be very careful not to break anything. He then took pictures so when he goes to the supply house this can help them match it up with the correct part that is broken. The technician and the helper were working at your home for 1 ½ hours for $152.00, the technician gave you 3 options after working on your faucet to help you make an educated choice on fixing your designer faucet. The third option was to replace the old cartridge in the designer faucet. Remove and install a new hot cartridge with a 1 year warranty for $295.00 With them going to the supply house to get the new cartridge for your faucet and come back and repair it would take them about 2 ½ hours. I feel these prices are reasonable. As you know now our Technicians work exclusively for our company and do not do any side work.

From start to finish, this company was professional and punctual. Scheduling the appointment was easy and they came quickly to fix the leak in our sewer line. I would highly recommend Aqueduct Services and will use them in the future if other issues arise.

It was a good experience and they came out when they said they would. I utilized Angie's Concierge and was pleased with the referral. Aqueduct tried calling me a few times and even though they missed me on the first couple calls, they were persistent and eager to assist. Although, the repair is not complete, I understand why they could not go further with it as I need to clear some things with my insurance company. My only complaint was that it took a while to write up the invoice and the miscommunication in regards to the diagnostic fee.Overall it was a good experience and a step in the right direction
Description of Work: I have a forced water heating system in my home and I was experiencing a leak. Aqueduct came out and was able to provide me with a full diagnostic and found that the damage was due to the pipes freezing. They did not fully repair it as it will be more a process to complete, but were able to get the heat back on in my basement.

Luckily, we only needed a new filter and fuse. Thankfully, Kam was honest with us about it and didn't pretend it was something more, an experience we've had with other service "professionals". He was a professional, honest, on time and kind to us. In addition, the company sent Kam within hours, not over a day, which other companies offered. Considering we didn't have heat and the house was down to a very cold 49 degrees, they did the right thing. My husband, baby and I appreciate their caring attitude.

Aqueduct came out to repair a leak in the hot water pipe leading to my kitchen sink. They charged me a $199 fee the open up the panel underneath my sink to look around. They determined that they needed to replace the length of copper pipe that had a leak and wanted to charge me $800 plus the $200 fee for a total of $1000. When I asked about the hourly rate they indicated that they had a book with a flat fee for each service. Long story short we contacted other plumbers on Angie's list equally skilled that charge a fair rate. The prices Aquaduct charges are over the top. Do yourself a favor and stay away. The are plenty of other company that are reputable that charge a fair rate.

I read your review the other day and wanted to do more research before I replied. I spoke to the lead technician that night while he was at your home regarding the situation. Our Technician and his helper set up clean drop cloths to protect your home when they opened a section of the cabinet and wall to expose the line with the leak. It was after hours when they arrived at your home and we did not charge you an after hour fee. They charged you $199.00 for the service they performed. They were at your home for about 3 hours. They did a leak search and were waiting for your approval to proceed with the work. You had a hard time making a decision to proceed and were making phone calls to other companies trying to get a cheaper price. You asked our Technician’s to wait until you made your decision per your phone calls. The technician quoted your repair at $696.00 including parts and labor for 3 more hours of work. You decided not to do the work. After the Technician cleaned up and packed up all of their tools into the truck you came outside and told them “My friend said the price was fair, can you still honor your quote” The Tech said we would gladly set up again and honor your initial quote. The Technicians’ went back in to the house and started setting up again when you asked your neighbor to do the work. And your friend who works for the plumbing union said yes. We are licensed, insured and bonded and all our technicians are back ground checked. We have fully stocked trucks and we offer 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. When you hire a plumber to do your plumbing as a side job we are not able to compete for price because they have no overhead, they are not licensed, they also have no insurance, if they accidently start a fire soldering the pipe with their torch in the wall in your home you the customer will be responsible.

We were very happy with Karl's services on our boiler. He explained many things and took the time to answer our questions. Although Aqueduct services charges a bit more for their services, they checked for numerous things on the boiler to make sure that it was operating safely and efficiently. An added bonus to us was that Karl came and did not use any fragrances of any kind; and, this helped us tremendously as we have allergies to fragrances and chemicals of all kinds.

Eduardo and Luis arrived by 10:30 Am. The time of arrival was between 8 AM and 12 PM. From the time they knock on my door till the time they left, they behave professionally. The job was done well and the service was excellent. In this respect I have no complaints. I will not call on this company for service anymore even though I may have another repair to do soon. The reason for this decision is their price. Even though I am happy with the work I am very dissapointed how they price a job. I paid through the nose but I decided to do so because before hiring Aqueduct I call other 5 plumbing companies and they refuse to work in an apartment building. But I will not, and repeat, will not call this company for service anymore.
Description of Work: repaired a leak under the kitchen sink and a leak on the bathtub faucet.

Response from Aqueduct Services, Plumbing, Heating & Cooling
I’m sorry to hear that you were unhappy with our price, but our price was fair. Very often Superintendents are uncooperative and very difficult to deal with (this is why the FIVE other companies REFUSE to do this job). Your superintendent was yelling at the technicians because they were parked by the building just to unload tools and equipment. They had to move the truck to the street in order to finishing unloading what they needed. Our Technicians had to park 3 blocks away from your building and go back and forth with tools and equipment to do your job. Working under these conditions extends the time it takes to complete a job. Our Technicians evaluated the job and the circumstances under which they were working and gave you an exact price to do the work before they started, as they do for every job. It is the choice of the customer if they want the work done. There are no surprises.
