"(Member name removed), Apologies for the delay in responding to your review...I don't know how I missed it! Thank you...it was a pleasure working with you on your basement. I'm thrilled to hear it meets your all of your needs and creates a bit of good envy! Enjoy your space..."
"WOW. Thank you for such a descriptive and enthusiastic review! Of all of the work we've done together on your home, your master bedroom was my absolute fave. Creating a feeling that spoke to both you and your hubby (since you were coming from completely different places) is my favorite kind of challenge. My goal was to design a space for you to come "home" to at the end of your busy days. More importantly maybe, was creating something that made you feel like relaxing and connecting in the most luscious and luxurious way! I couldn't be more thrilled that you feel I brought your collective vision to life. It was a total pleasure and adventure, as always. THANK YOU. Xo"
"[member name removed], It was such a pleasure to meet you and to help you in the initial phases of your renovation. Your home has incredible "bones" and I look forward to watching your new kitchen come to life. Thank you so much for the review. Enjoy the journey... ~Julie"
I had selected some paint samples to bring to Julie when we met to discuss wallpaper and paint color. Luckily, she talked me out of my original vision... it would have looked awful and not at all what I was going for. I trusted Julie's style and expertise so much that, without hesitation, we had our selection within minutes. I was so excited with our choices and they were delivered later that week.
A few pieces of furniture were going to be delivered in a couple weeks so Julie made sure that the room was painted and wallpapered before the delivery. She referred me to a contractor who was so professional and just a very sweet guy. He went above and beyond just simply painting and hanging wallpaper. When I returned to my apartment after he was finished, I was blown away at how stunning the room looked. He had repaired a few cracks in the walls and resurfaced the window sills.
I have been in no rush to purchase the remaining furniture and fixtures that Julie and I envisioned but yet she constantly sends me pictures and ideas as she sees things that fit our vision. She is working 24/7 for all of her clients at all times and I really really appreciate that. For instance, she recently found a dresser set that was just delivered and I am in LOVE! Julie has been extremely patient with me as she really understands that I am waiting for just the right pieces to compliment the room (and at the right price!).
I am so so happy with my new bedroom and am looking forward to starting on my living room. It's funny how that happens... always a work in progress!!!! There is a slight chance that I will be moving to San Francisco, in which case, I cannot wait for Julie and I to start all over. I would recommend her (and HAVE) to anyone looking to not only update their space but maximize it, as well.
"[member name removed], THANK YOU! I am always so amazed at the thoughtfulness of my clients who have written reviews for me on Angie's List. Yours is no different. Thank you for such an excellent review! It was so much fun working with you on your bedroom and especially awesome to receive your excited texts and phone calls as things arrived. Secretly, I hope you do move to San Francisco so we have more to work on! (Just saying ;) In any case, it's been an absolute pleasure. With Gratitude, ~Julie"
"[member name removed] - While it saddens me to receive this review, it doesn’t surprise me. Let me begin by saying that I appreciate you leading your review commenting that I am a lovely person. Our time in person together was always fun, enjoyable and accomplished. I enjoyed our visits as well. And the truth is, I believe that having that experience during the design process is almost as important than the finished project. Your Master Bathroom, or whatever part of your home that’s being designed, needs to have wonderful feelings associated with it. After all, home is where the adventure begins. But not everyone is on the same kind of adventure. And I feel more than anything else that our mismatched personalities and some unrealistic expectations hold as much of the blame for your lack of satisfaction with this project as anything else . This is not an excuse on my part or an attempt to lay blame - it’s simply what is. When I get over 100 emails before a design is even finalized on a project - dissatisfaction is in the mix from the outset. As I explained from the beginning, my process is an organic one. A process that I changed, unsuccessfully, to work around your desires and expectations of what it should mean to work with a designer. But in truth, it’s not a process that should change which is why I suggested at the beginning that perhaps we were not a fit as client and designer. I cross t’s and dot i’s better than most, but client’s I work best with have a desire to let go and give into the unfolding. That cannot happen when it is micro-managed. And truth be told, for anyone else reading this, if that’s how you like to work - I’m not the designer for you. Throughout this project there were holdups. First and foremost was me receiving a serious diagnosis of illness during your project which set me back for weeks as you know, and having to rebalance my work and life so it became designed for absolute optimal health. My health and family always come first and are the building blocks of the beauty and design I bring to the people and projects with whom and on which I work. Second, one of my contractors did fall short of expectations. Not in a huge way but anything short of perfect is not good enough. This is my responsibility and for that I sincerely apologize. However, as I explained several times, I always work with third parties. When you hire me - you are hiring the best team for your scope of work: In your case: A designer, contractor, interior architect, renderer. I don’t do it all - i do what I do best and that’s design and bringing exceptional people together for a tremendous outcome. The fact that you didn’t get that experience is exactly why I refunded you more than 25% of your deposit. Not unexpectedly, on an hourly basis, this project cost me more than it made me. But my intention is to always leave clients feeling satisfied. I am truly sorry that this is not the experience you’ve been left with. That said, I am confident that you have enough of the elements in hand that you need to create the unique Master Bathroom sanctuary you are looking for. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and hope that you arrive there sooner than later, and with a feeling of enjoyment and ease throughout the rest of the process. Warmly, ~Julie"

"Member, Thank you for such kind words. It has been a real pleasure to work with you. You have not only brought me into your home but you've shared your world in a way which has helped me create something truly extraordinary for you. I look forward to the rest of our journey together!!! ~Julie"
As a single mother, before I had my kitchen redone, I did not sit down at the dinner table with my children. I was truly in a place where there was a feeling of discomfort in my home that I couldn't put into words. Julie came in and listened and changed all of that...
Working with me (not just for me), Julie created a house that instantly became a warm, functional, beautiful, incredible home. From her color choices on the walls which surround us, to the fabrics on my chairs, the textures in my backsplash that brought all the beautiful colors together and a total re-design of my cabinetry, my entire space became different. She also changed and picked out new lighting which competely transformed the feeling of everything. Her choices and decisions not only saved me a lot of money, but truly re-created a home that works with my life style and my family. I am grateful.
"Thank you so much for your review. It was a joy to co-create that feeling of home for you and your boys. Thank you for your open mind and for really letting go into the process! Enjoy... ~Julie"
"Dear Customer, WOW. What a fantastic review. Working with you and Ivy is always a joy and an adventure! Your humor, openess and full trust in me is so appreciated. I look forward to the next project we work together on, and the next, and the next...clearly, you'll have to build the vacation home! Best Wishes, ~Julie"
Julie also has experience in commercial work, so if you have an office, doctor's office, school, etc., I would give her a call.
I can tell you that working with Julie was an absolute pleasure; she's warm, funny, fun and considerate of how difficult "change" can be!
"A warm and very full thank you for your kind words. It was an absolute pleasure to work with you and I hope we can work together again in the very near future. Thank you, thank you! With Gratitude, ~Julie"
