Scott Fence

It still going on. My husband went on Angie's List and looked for a review on fence guys. Scott's Fence was one of three companies that received very positive reviews from Angie's List so he decided to go with that guy. He got quotes from a bunch of other contractors but he decided to go with Scott because he was the cheapest and he was willing to do the job. Some companies said they weren't going to do it because its a little bit complicated. The issues that were problematic is Scott has a very thick Jamaican accent. My husband was unable to understand them over the phone so it was very hard. Communication is key. When he's explaining things with a thick Jamaican accent, it was very difficult for my husband to understand so he will have to go out of his way to meet with Scott in person in order to just have a face to face communication so he can better understand him. It was problematic because the job was in Brooklyn, my husband was in Queens. My husband had to drive to Brooklyn and take time out of his schedule just to communicated with the fence guy. The other problem was it was a job that was supposed to, in theory take 4-5 days. He started in March, we're in mid-April and the is still not complete. Its been a long time. Granted there were some issues because we had such a terrible winter and it was snowing most of the time in March, Scott Was unable to perform the job when they were snowing which is understandable. Other times he'd call and say, my worker cancelled on me the last minute, I can't go to the job site. My husband gave Scott the survey of the land to look at the survey in order to ascertain what is my husband's property and what is the neighbor's property. It was an awkward lee-shaped yard, it not a rectangle or a square. When they discussed, Scoot asked him, where is your property line, between you and your neighbors, is it tor feet or five feet. My husband said, I think five feet but I'm not sure, just double check the survey. One day, my husband's at work, he gets all these missed calls and so forth. He called Scott and he said, your neighbor is saying that your property line ends at two feet, not five feet, what should I do. My husband said, what does the survey say. I left the survey at my office, I don't have it with me right now, do you remember what the survey said. My husband said, no I don't remember that's why I have it to you, you're the fence guy, I wanted you to read the survey and figure it out. My husband doesn't know how to read surveys. My husband said, just to get the job done, let's appease the neighbor. Whatever the neighbor says, just do it that way just to gt the job done and we don't alienate a neighbor. Scott finishes the job and my husband finds out that part of it wasn't yard fence.

Very friendly person. Gave me the lowest price. Whenever I had an issue he came back and fixed it right away.

I cannot say enough good things about Scott fence! First, he arrived for an estimate as promised. He did get lost and I missed his call but he called several times until he got me & arrived promptly as soon as i explained where i was. He made recommendations based on the area we wanted to fence that were extremely helpful and showed his level of experience. The price he gave is was fantastic, considering he works with true PVC vinyl fencing (he beat out another fence company by atleast $500). We met with Scott Fence 2 more times after the initial consultation: the 2nd time, he was kind enough to give us time to speak to our neighbors about the upcoming installation, and even helped mediate minor debates about property line & fence placement. He was EXTREMELY helpful with this, which i had to mention because no fence company is responsible for making your neighbors feel ok with fence installation, but Scott Fence took this challenge without hesitation. The third time we met was to finalize the contract. He was able to install the fence 3 days later! His crew arrived as promised that Saturday morning, and worked throughout the day to finish the job. There was a tiny miscommunication: one neighbor already had 4ft pvc fencing and while we wanted to go with 5 ft, we told Scott Fence we wanted to match the neighbors' fence in height, but it was misunderstood as height and style (we installed plain solid & the neighbor has lattice topped fence). Initially I was going to give the go ahead to install but i later told Scott Fence that i wasnt crazy about the lattice fence and he said no worries, that he would order the correct fencing free of charge and install what i wanted. He is truly all about making his customers happy. There was even a small section of unfenced area in out back yard that was previously blocked with cinderblocks that he fenced for free! I also want to mention, he had no idea i found him on Angies list, not until the 2nd visit. I intentionally did not mention it because i like to see the true colors of service providers when they are not focused on getting a good review. There is more that we plan to fence in the future and we will not hesitate to contact Scott Fence. Glenn, the main contact, is wonderful. Cheerful, informative and definitely about his business. He's friendly and very easy to work with.

Started early morning and completed job by early evening. Very labor intensive. They were very professional and did a nice neat job. My only complaint was that they did not use galvanized rust - proof nails on one section of the fence. Starting to rust  now.

First off let me start by saying Scott is a good guy, he gave me a fair price and did a good job on the install. If I had not been busy and written this review sooner, I would have gave him all A's. That being said about a month later and the pickets are beginning to warp and bend. Some pickets only had one nail in them while others had two. The pickets are spaced far apart in some areas and really do not offer the privacy I wanted. The panels are of poor quality and I blame myself for not paying closer attention, at this rate I will have to replace most of the panels by winter! I thought they would at least last me a couple of years,my last panel fence lasted 15yrs and he said his was better. If he would have told me to use better panels and that these would not even last a month, I would most likely agreed to pay more for a better quality fence. 
 
I am truly disappointed.

This was a small job that Mr. Scott worked to fit into his schedule and at a fair price.  I found Scott Fence to be reliable and competent.

I would use their services again in the future.

Scott was very professional. His pricing was very fair, and he did a great job of removing the old fence and putting up the new one. The job took less than a day. We are very pleased with the service we received from Scott.
