When I called and said my hottub had shut down, they came the very next day. They got it running and explained to me what the problem was and gave me some advice on how to keep it from happening again. The employee was on time, professional and courteous. He made sure to bring a variety of parts so that he did not have to make a second trip.

A technician came over and spent about ten or fifteen minutes looking at the pool and taking pictures with his cell phone. A few weeks later, he finally called and said that the boss had looked at the photos and "didn't feel like taking on such a big job." I said in a reasonable tone that that was not satisfactory and asked if the boss could please call me. When he didn't, I called the company direct several times in hopes of speaking with him. He never returned my calls, but after almost a month, sent a curt form letter. The upshot is that if Royal Pools has a very dubious business, as far as I am concerned, taking money for estimates and then, lo and behold, losing interest in the work and refusing to supply a serious proposal for it.

"I was the person that she spoke with regarding scheduling an estimate for a pool repair. She was very adamant about having the pool brought back up to speed as it had sentimental value to her. Yes, we do charge for estimates - that is our company policy. All estimates are credited back to the customers account if they decide to move ahead with a job. I did not tell her that this was not the case. I have worked at Royal for 12 years and know our policy well. If a customer is not comfortable with paying for an estimate they should shop around and make their decision accordingly. After my service person examined the pool and we started putting the numbers together for a repair it became obvious that she would be throwing good money after bad by trying to repair this pool. There was no guarantee that the cost of this repair would not spiral out of control. It would have been a much sounder financial decision to install a new pool and equipment that would all have warranties covering them. I personally wrote the response to her and was actually trying to advocate for her. We would never want a customer to invest money in something that would prove to be heartbreaking in the end. I was surprised that she found my response to be curt as this was never my intention. Our decision to advise on a new pool purchase was a serious proposal. The messenger should not be shot just because the outcome is not pleasing to the customer. We where honest in our reply and would hope that customers would appreciate this."

We did a LOT of shopping before choosing a pool and contractor. We decided that fiberglass was the only way to go, and chose Jay's company based on other positive feedback we'd read on the internet. We're glad we did. From start to finish we have nothing but the best things to say about this company and our experience. Jay and his wife Marilyn both came out to do the site inspection. We were impressed with their unhurried approach as they reviewed the job with us. They asked a lot of questions and presented a lot of information to make sure they understood our needs and that we knew exactly what we were getting. I know others who have run into unexpected surprises over the course of a pool installation. That's not going to happen with Jay. Jay and his company have been in this field for a long time and it shows. The finished installation is GORGEOUS and service after the sale has been outstanding.
