Test results came in that showed damage and I needed to stop taking the drug immediately. They did not notify me anything was wrong. I had to call repeatedly and was refused the test results. They even refused to release the results to my primary care doctor. I unknowingly took my medication daily as required. After weeks of fighting I got the results, my liver was damaged and unnecessarily further damage was done.

I have an appointment next week. My last appointment was 6 months ago, although he did see me when I was in the hospital in March.

I honestly could not sleep before my appointment, I went in armed with all the reasons why putting me on medications was not a good solution and would cause more serious problems.  I thought I would probably have to find another doctor. But it was unnecessary.  The Doctor listened to me, gave me options, explained my condition in great detail and supported my desire to be a partner in improving my health.
We agreed on an additional test to confirm that there were no underlying conditions that might require immediate intervention.  I am so thankful that life style changes are indicated at this time and I immediately implemented changes to my diet and physical exercise.
Dr DeTommasi will do follow up testing to evaluate the effectiveness of efforts and follow my progress.  I was so overwhelmed by her positive response to my request for no drugs (at this time), I had to contain myself from hugging her.

I had a blood draw for lab work on 7/26/10, as ordered by my primary care doctor (lipid profile, bllod sugar Hemglobin A1C, liver enzymes. I had the lab work done at the cardiologists office so the cardiologist would also have the results for my appointment on 8/12.. On 8/9 I called to get the results of the tests. All calls are forwarded to the Albany office and then you have to wait for a return call. The results were not sent to my primary care doctor who ordered the tests. I was told someone would call me back on 8/10. No call. I followed up on 8/11. The office staff left a message to inform me they would not release the labs. I called and left further messages that they needed to have the labs available for me and to get them to the doctor who ordered them, my primary care docoter as they had not right to withhold them from my doctor. I called at 8:30 on 8/12 the day of my appointment, labs were still being withheld. I directed that my files be copied so I may find another cardiologist and I would not attend the appointment. the cardilogist now got involved, he apologized and assured the labs would be made available, set to my primary care doctor and convinced me to keep the appointment. I kept the appoointment and the doctor again apologized and assured the matter would be addressed with the staff. I accepted the apology and we moved on. The labs showed problems with several liver enzymes and we made changes to medications in response. On 8/17 I recevied a message from medical records. I called back and left a message. The Troy office manager called me back, apparently just to insitgate a problem that the doctor had already addressed. . She was unprofessional, rude and disrespectful. She tried to lie about when the labs were sent to my primary doctor, but I had already contacted the primary care doctor and knew the answer. when I callled her on her lie she hung up the phone.
