We hired Barret Blackteop excepting them to do a good job after the good reviews we’ve seen and heard. We were very unhappy with the finishing work of our driveway. We had our old one ripped up and a new one laid down. No straight lines, a lot of inconsistencies, not level, etc. This lead to months of attorneys, etc. Hire at your own risk.

Family owned and operated. Very professional crew. The job was complete in the time stated at a great price. I couldn’t be happier with the job. It was a brutal hot day and these guys got the job done perfectly.

These guys were great!! Came out and looked at job and gave us a very fair price compared to 2 other contractors (both also well rated on Angie's List) They came on time and got straight to work. Were done by 3 PM and it looked awesome. Highly recommend these guys....small family business but doing it right.

Showed up when they said, notified us of a potential drainage issue that we might want to address before completion of driveway. We did address issue and once that work was complete, Barrett's Co came right back and finished the job. as promised. A pleasure to work with, very informative and quick to respond. Also, patient while waiting for us to resolve the other issue. Thumbs up!

Sorry did the in the wrong order. We had two large sections of our horseshoe driveway done. In addition, three other areas needed to be fixed. They cut the old blacktop out of all 5 sections, put in crushed stone, sand, packed it down and filled it in with the blacktop. We seemed to have misplace the detail of exactly what types of materials were used so we can't put that information in the review.

Our asphalt driveway was heavily damaged from truck traffic after a major backyard construction and landscaping project. Even before the project, there were big low-spots where water pooled. As a homeowner, I've bid out and supervised several large projects, but never a paving job. We solicited three bids to resurface the driveway. Two of the three paving contractors proposed digging out the entire driveway; putting in a new crushed stone base; and then two courses of asphalt. One bid was about $5,300 the other about $6,200. Barrett Paving (Jim Barrett) was the third contractor to come to look at the driveway. Based on the first two bids, I assumed that the entire driveway needed to be dug up and replaced, so this is what I asked Jim to bid on. He didn't hesitate to say that, considering all the heavy truck traffic that the driveway had endured, it looked pretty solid. Instead, he recommended that we just remove and rebuild the damaged sections; install a rough binder course of asphalt over the entire driveway to level it and ensure that surface water was properly directed; and then install a smooth finished course on top of that. Total bid $3,500; payable upon completion. Barrett Paving showed up to do the job when they said they would; completed it when promised; and the finished driveway looks great. If you're considering using Barrett Paving, know that they seem to put most of their energy and resources into great paving and not back office operations. Don't be put off if you call and it's obvious that they use an answering service or if the bid/contract is typed on plain paper (instead of stationary or a triplicate pre-printed document). Barrett Paving is an old-fashioned family-owned business in the best sense of the term. In fact, when they showed up on "paving day" every worker I met (four or five of them) was a Barrett, and all appeared to be Jim's sons. I would recommend Barrett Paving without reservation.

They came when they said, did an excellent job, cleaned up after and called to check on my satisfaction. I have had two individuals comment on how nice my driveway looks and I agree. Would definitely recommend.

We had crushed stones, they did a very good job. I'm very happy with them. They are coming back in 2 weeks to re-seal it for the winter.
