Braendel Painting & Services Inc

About us

Going back to 1973 when Dennis C. Braendel started the company with one used truck and a step ladder, his policy then and still today is 'Our customers are satisfied customers.' Our mission is to give only the highest quality job at the fairest price possible. We are very thankful and proud to serve the community from one generation to the next several generations. In 2004 Jeff Catrabone branched out to the western New York region, bringing a braendel shop to the Buffalo community. He moved to Buffalo with two painters and one van, the buffalo branch now has over twenty painters and ten vans. They also offer a full carpentry crew that features anything from small wood repairs to full bath and kitchen remodels. Braendel has recently bought a new stand alone building in Tonawanda, NY and continue to build a bigger and better company. Although Braendel Painting Services has grown immensely over the last 42 years, we want to stress that no job is too small, from patching a leaky roof to painting a closet or repairing a loose step.

Very professional company! Jeff gave us suggestions for painting our old home which was going to be put up for sale. They removed old wallpaper and repaired walls. I was happy with Jeff's suggestions to refresh the home we were selling and the crew did a great job! I was never worried about leaving them in our home alone. They also painted the home we purchased and Mike and Frank were friendly and again, I totally trusted them both in our home. Got the job done early since we were leaving for a vacation. The house was cleaned up perfectly in the end!

Just awful. Supposed to do shower in 4 days and bedroom in 7. Took over 70 days and never finished. We have had to have another contractor rectify their improper shower installation, which cost us an additional $3K. We still have to install 3 new windows they broke and a door. Soundproofing does not work. Painting was mediocre. Felt like a scam. Complete lack of professionalism and lack of concern for rectifying the problems. Estimate was complete fallacy as numbers never added up. Ignored our wishes and decisions regularly. Rude and condescending to wife. Jeff Catrabone is a really slick con man. Will promise you the world and not deliver.

They took longer than estimated. But more importantly they broke hall railing and did a lousy job fixing it. They claimed to use high quality name brand new items but all they did was run over to Home Depot and get the least expensive stuff. They didn't leave any of the Warranty or other product info for anything they installed.

Removing the popcorn ceilings was a messy, difficult job but they tackled it and we were pleased with the result. We had one area which needed additional work -- a wall had been removed and getting the new texture to blend in was not easy; but they kept coming back until we were satisfied and it was resolved amicably. Workmen showed up on time and the job was done within the time frame promised. They were very neat in their work and cleaned up after themselves every day. We could have painted the rooms ourselves and just had Braendel do the ceilings, but their price to do the total job was much more reasonable than other quotes we had gotten. I would use them again and recommend them highly to others.

It was terrible, it only lasted 2 years and it cost my poor dad 12 grand. My dad had contracted in the contract, he wanted it paint brushed and the girl that was the crew leader said she was going to spray and that was just tough luck, that's what she did she said. And so, she came and she sprayed and all the windows, there's still some I just don't have the nerve to get up on the ladder and scrape the spray paint off, the mess of it. It's still on few of the windows and then I have asked her, "Please don't put your ladder up against a window" that was the kitchen window, they had their whole kitchen remodeled two years before that and the double pane windows, you don't put up a ladder against that. Well, she did, it started leaking afterwards but my dad did call the company and the fella said, "Have somebody come in, give you an estimate of what it is and I'll send you a check immediately" which he did, he's very good about the but my dad didn't want to complain that time because he grew up in World War 2, the depression and he didn't complained about people. If he had a bad experience, he was like "Oh well, just go on". They were there when they're supposed to be, they told my dad what time they'd be there and they were there. They cleaned up everyday after themselves, it was just the quality of paint they did.

Some of the work was good but the finish quality on the kitchen cabinets was a real dissappointment. Additionally, when they removed the moulding to put in the floor, multiple pieces were damaged and not replaced. We called them back for some patch work but they really needed to be replaced so we just accepted it. Eventually we will replace the moulding at our expense. This is the last time we will use them.

They didn't clean out the joints and much of the cement just popped out within a few months. They used several different colors all of which didn't match and cement leached out over the bricks. Although we complained the owner, never come out to see the mess. Took them to local court and was awarded our money back.

I thought this was going to be a great experience. The VP came to give the estimate. He was affable and made me feel confident they would do a great job. Even though they gave the most expensive estimate we received, because of that initial impression we decided to choose them. I had a young baby at the time, and wanted to get all the painting done before we moved him into the house. They were accommodating with scheduling as such. That is about where all the positives end. To be perfectly blunt they did an absolutely terrible job. Areas that we specifically spoke about being addressed and repaired weren't. There were drips on every wall and every door frame. There were parts of every door and window frame that weren't painted. There were spots all over that didn't get enough coats and the underlying color showed through. There was paint on our new light fixtures, the hinges, the railing. There were scuff marks where someone leaned on the wall. The kicks on the stairs were scuffed by their shoes. There were streaks of wall color on the ceiling and molding and vice versa. Clearly they rushed to get the job done. If they couldn't do it right according to when we wanted to do it, that should have been said.
I called to complain and they sent a person out to inspect the job. We had post-it notes all over the place marking each issue. He said he'd never seen such careless work. As it was, they had to send a crew back out for a whole other day to fix all their mistakes. As a result I had to uproot my son and spend the night with him in my parent's guest bed to keep him away from the fumes, which was exactly what I was trying to avoid from the beginning. One of the things that annoyed me the most was that in the process of all this, they damaged a suitcase. Rather than just moving things to the center of the room, they decided to stack stuff on our bed and in the course of heaving my suitcase up, they tore the handle off. When I reported this to the VP, he responded - what did you have in there a bunch of rocks? I don't know if he was trying to be funny or was letting his frustration show, but quite frankly what does it matter what I had in the suitcase? It is my personal property and should have been handled with care, if handled at all, irrespective of what was inside. They did eventually compensate me for the bag but when I spoke to him at one point and wondered if we would be receiving any other compensation for all out inconvenience he said he didn't know what I was looking for other than them sending a crew out to make good on what they failed at the first time. Honestly, I still think we should have been given some money back for the deplorable job they did and the fact that I had to displace myself and my son as a result of their shoddy work. Even after they supposedly fixed everything, we still have found areas of trim that were never repainted and other small errors. Several weeks ago I found paint on one of my jackets in the closet because when they corrected the completely uneven, wavy edge they were apparently too lazy to move anything out of the way. At this point I am so fed up with their workmanship and attitudes that we don't even want to bother dealing with them anymore and my husband and I will fix it ourselves and I'll be seeing if the dry cleaners can salvage my coat. The real kicker of it all was when we got the automatic card in the mail after the job was done thanking us for our business and saying they hope they can do work for us again in the future! What a laugh...

Coverup very shoddy, fan not removed prior to ceiling work, fireplace and floor ducts inadequately sealed off. Still breathing plaster dust. Paint job sloppy, needed to return on another day to redo. Attitude of supervisor (?) very patronizing.

They're awesome. They did the work free of charge because we had some paint that were peeling off in our porch which they did before so they came and fixed it and nobody was home but they came and did it on their own cord. I like everything about them. They were professional, from the sales guy to the staff to the people working there. Everybody knew what needed to be done and I watched them work and they are very professional. I'm very happy with them. I would definitely use them again.

Assured us the leak in the bedroom around the windows was fixed. However, window started leaking again ~ 3 months later. Called and they returned, did a patch job on the outside of the window and fixed the painted inside surface again. But, the leak started again and eventually we had to call another company to come in and replace the windows even though in Braendl's initial estimate the representative assured us he had diagnosed and identified the problem..
As for the painting jobs in the living room, and closet--I had to call them back because they were not addressed correctly on the first visit. Total of 2 more visits by the painter to fully and satisfactorily complete the job.
Final anaylsis: priced too high for the level and quality of work. Plus the inconvenience of having to have the painter and company representive come back to document and complete faulty workmanship.

They were prompt in meeting me at home to review the work needed and in providing an estimate, and worked with me to arrive at a satisfactory price. Their painting team was on time, friendly, careful to protect the surroundings, and most of all delivered a quality paint job. The also did a few handiwork tasks in an equally high-quality manner. I would use Braendel again.

Let me start by saying I am a very detail-oriented person. The folks at Braendel painting are the same!
I have hired a lot of contract services in my time, and there are very few that even come close to my expectations.
Braendel nailed it! These guys are all about the details! From the initial quote, to product recommendations, preparation, painting, last minute changes, and flexible scheduling. Their work is absolutely the best I have ever seen!
Most impressive was their level of preparation...the sanding, cleaning, skim coat, more sanding, priming, more sanding....on and on!
They arrived on time everyday.
They cleaned up the job site everyday.
Their crew consists of experienced professionals that have been doing this for a long time.
Most of the time you didn't even know they were there.
They were prompt, courteous, and very professional.
Their painting is incredibly accurate and true, and in most areas, two coats were applied.
I had to make a last minute change to the schedule and no one ever groaned or complained...they accommodated my request.
They even left the paint they did not use so I could touch up any areas in the future that may get dinged or damaged.
They also followed up to see if I was satisfied.
I later found out that Braendel started out with two people and with most referals from word-of-mouth, has grown to 20.
I can see why!

Very happy with Braendel! Their team came out to paint the walls in my family room. I usually do my own painting, but this room has extremely tall ceiling so I do not have the equipment nor the desire to reach that high. The two gentlemen did a very good job - they cleaned up, even sweeping the floor afterwards. Very happy with them and I would use them again in a heartbeat! Thanks, Jeff!

We were pleased. Overall, I think it was good value for the cost. We got estimates that were much, much lower and of course estimates that were higher. I thought that we paid more than we had to but I think we got more. It wasn't perfect perfect but we were very satisfied and I think that's the best way to put it. I think we got excellent work for what we paid. It still wasn't cheap; we had the whole exterior done. The house is 2-story, 4 bed-rooms and it was built in 1920. I took charge of it, made several calls and got estimates. A year later we're still satisfied. It came out fine and they had a pretty good size crew and I would recommend them. That's the best I can tell you but I can't give exact numbers. I have to look for the materials.
