About us
All Star Woodworking was founded in 1978, and has grown steadily for more than 35 years. From the beginning, our goal has been to provide distinguished and outstanding service and craftsmanship, and expert installation. Today we have over 25 employees working at our 12,000 square foot factory. How have we grown? We realized early on that the majority of our business came from customer referrals, and we viewed each project as a showcase for future business. We specialize in Custom Kitchens, Custom Cabinetry, Cabinet Refacing, Custom Built-in Closets, and Countertops. All*Star Woodworking's factory and showroom are located in Thornwood, New York, less than one minute from the Saw Mill River Parkway. We encourage you to visit our factory and see first hand the variety of products we build, and the great care and attention to detail that goes into each and every piece. Please call and make an appointment to tour our facility and to set up a free in house consultation.

We met Joe at a home show and were impressed with the cabinetry display and high quality of work. We looked up All Star Woodworking on Angie's List and found not only reassuring and wonderful reviews but also a coupon. All Star came to our house to help plan the new and refaced cabinets and worked with us to set up timing of the various steps of our kitchen remodel. The installation was smooth, and the cabinets are perfect in terms of finish, quality and fit. We had had hickory cabinets but some of the shelves (and the support on the sink cabinet) had given way so they not only refaced with new white painted wood doors but also restored the integrity of the units with new shelving where needed. They removed a soffit above the old cabinets and built and installed small glass-fronted cabinets above the older cabinets, giving an updated look, more space and more light in the room. Peter was very involved in all aspects of the remodel as it affected the cabinets, and made sure every detail was right. He recommended some great professionals for aspects of the remodel whom we would call again. Finally, the workers from All Star were neat, polite and pleasant, and cleaned up every time they finished for the day.
We are very pleased with our new kitchen and we would call All Star Woodworking again without hesitation if we have any future projects: the quality of their work is superior.
What I was disappointed with is that Margaret sketched out a design with all of the sizes of the cabinets, appliances, etc. and took them with her. This is NOT her fault. I think it's a pretty raw deal that I paid for a consultation service (which was awesome), and I have nothing to show for it unless I use All Star Woodworking. I should've been able to keep the sketch as that is what I was paying for. I can't remember every detail (ie. size of cabinets, appliances, etc.).
"[member name removed], Thank you for the kinds words about Margaret. We believe that having the best people working for All*Star is one of our key strengths. The $49 consultation program that you purchased was designed to help you conceptualize what could be possible to make your new kitchen even more functional and beautiful. From your own account, you received great value. Margaret took notes of your existing kitchen so that if you were interested in taking the next step, she would be able to pick up where the two of you had left off. The sketch of what exists is not particularly important. We will send it to you. The design of your new kitchen is very important. If you moved forward with All*Star, Margaret would help you develop and cost out your new design. You met one amazing person; we have an entire cabinet making facility filled with more. Please reconsider."
We worked with Krista and Peter. They are really nice people. All Star is totally professional, responsive, and delivers on time. They really know their business and provide an outstanding service for a reasonable price. Peter did us a favor by coming out to measure on short notice before we left for vacation. This helped us to stay on schedule with our project. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for custom cabinetry!
We were so impressed with Krista and Joe we hired them to also plan and construct the bookcases in husband's home office, shelving in the office storage room, design and construct bedroom drawers and shelves for one bedroom, design and contructs a complete amoire wall unit of drawers, shelves and doors for a big bedroom wall, design and construct a 3 computer workspace, design and construct the cabinet and sink area for the children's art space and design and construct a full wall unit housing a TV and lots of shelves and base cabinets.
Each area was installed when promised and when some adjustments were needed, Joe made them without any issues.
When a few of the door closure broke, Joe came right away to replace them with no questions asked.
All Star is the real deal and do a quality job. You will be happy you chose them.
I set up an appointment for Krista and Peter to come to my home and see the kitchen for themselves. During that meeting we added a few more things to the project including the drawer under the cooktop, etc. Gave them a deposit and discussed timeframe for fabrication and installation.
We arranged an installation date once I had my new cooktop and sink. Peter and his guys showed up on time and went right to work. They spent a full day doing the work and did an outstanding job. There were several tricky details involved and they dealt with each one very nicely.
The finished job looks great. These guys are actual craftsmen. Peter is amazingly sharp on noticing details and discussing any concerns ahead of time. Krista is wonderful and very professional. I couldn't be happier. I would hire them again without hesitation.
Our last call was to Peter at All Star. When we found out that All Star builds everything in their shop in Westchester, we drove over to look around. The quality of the work impressed us and the idea of working with a local company was appealing, particularly because the other estimates we received included out of state cabinetry work that would have taken months to complete.
Krista came out and listened to what I wanted and worked with my choices every step of the way. They stood by their bids and came through in the time frames they promised at a cost that made it possible for us to get everything we wanted at a fair price.
All Star was responsive every step of the way and the end result of the work they performed is beautiful with attention to every detail. In fact, when one of our new kitchen drawers was damaged, Peter took it and came back with a replacement the next day.
Our new kitchen functions easily and is the hub of our home. All Star also created and installed customized cabinets for a utility room for us with exactly the space I wanted for recycling, laundry and additional pantry storage.
After the kitchen and pantry had been completed, we had All Star return to build a custom cabinet along one wall of our living room. That also turned out beautifully and is very functional for our storage needs.
If we ever need additional cabinet work, I would be happy to work with both Peter and Krista again. They are nice people and true professionals.
He coordinated all aspects of the project with other contractors and kept the project moving despite our losing power for a week during Hurricane Sandy.
I would not hesitate to recommend Peter to anyone!
I had a unfinished kitchen cabinets, mainly some of the side panel of my cabinet not finished and all panels for the island not finished also I want to expand my kitchen by adding more cabinets. Krista suggested on the design and gave me very reasonable price for all the works. All work finished on schedule and no worry at all. More important, they are willing to help you with extra efforts. Later I found some defects at my existing cabinets, like a crack on the door, they are willing to fix it for me even though it's not including in the original contract. High recommended to anyone out there looking for cabinet maker.
Peter paid close attention to what our needs were in designing our new kitchen and was able to accommodate us in every instance (for example, deeper than average cabinets, many extra partitions, and a special custom narrow cabinet for holding spices). The cabinets were manufactured as promised within 6 weeks and we were invited to come and see the finished product. We made some changes along the way and Peter was very patient and understanding during our deliberations. There were some additional charges for the changes we made but they were reasonable.
Peter was very flexible in the timing for the demolition and installation. He was able to work with the schedule that was best for us. The demolition was less painful than we expected. It was completed in two hours and the areas outside the kitchen were very well protected. After some needed electrical and plumbing work were done Peter sent his crew back for the installation. This part was truly outstanding! Gabor was sent to do the installation and he worked meticulously paying attention to every detail with exceptional care. His helper Flavio was excellent as well. The work was completed in two and a half days and it came out beautiful. We are now waiting for the counter-top (Peter recommended the person that we are using).
Peter helped make our kitchen remodeling (a potentially stressful event) an exciting experience!
We chose a beautiful light maple veneer for our kitchen cabinetry. Peter Cuneo took measurements of the space, a few times, prior to and after the removal of the old cabinets, to insure accuracy. He understood our vision to have full ceiling height cabinets, reposition the sink and stove slightly, so that everything would be more centered, symmetrical and balanced. The original kitchen had an open view as you entered from the front door. This openness revealed too much of the kitchen, giving it a cluttered look. To make it cleaner looking and to camouflage some of the kitchen, we had installed a floor to ceiling fabric panel. Peter suggested a wall be built in lieu of the fabric wall and we are happy we took his suggestion. Initially, we thought it might make the kitchen appear smaller and close off the space too much, but in reality, it helped define the space and eliminated the visual clutter.
Our kitchen design included an extended counter for a seating area, a pull out drawer for a garbage ail, an over the sink stainless steel rack and a stemware rack. All pullout drawers were requested for under the counter instead of swinging doors. The only exception was one open door cabinet under the sink, next to the garbage drawer. A pullout spice and cutting board drawer was installed under the seating area. An appliance garage was built to house and hide daily used appliances, giving the kitchen a cleaner appearance with less clutter. It was built to be removable, should we change our minds and eliminate our appliances.
We were awed by how precise the stemware rack was installed. Each row had been measured to provide for the correct width to fit the bases of our stemware. The finished built-in maple stemware rack looked perfectly placed.
The stainless steel rack, to be used to drain items over the sink, was a new request for All Star Woodworking. Peter provided us with a heavy duty grade stainless steel rack that was installed with matching maple supports anchored to the sides of the cabinets. The completed installation gave this rack another custom built in look of sophistication.
Peter's other design ideas helped organize some of the space in the cabinets. Vertical pan racks were installed in one of the cabinets over the refrigerator, while the other side provided a deeper space for larger items. His team created dividers for the top utensil drawers, which definitely helped organize the utensils and gadgets.
Peter also provided matching maple trim for the kitchen sink window and suggested trimming the edge of the back-splash tile wall with a thin maple stripping for a finished look. To help complete and tie in all the elements in our kitchen area, Peter's team refaced one of our existing cabinets with a matching maple door. All of the maple trims helped coordinate the entire look and beauty of our newly renovated kitchen. We are truly thrilled with our new kitchen and enjoy the feel of the new space.
Kudos to Peter Cuneo and the All Star Woodworking team for their master workmanship. The professional team is diligent, takes pride and care in their precision work and beauty of their custom, quality craftsmanship. They are a very pleasant group of people to work with. They are punctual, very efficient, meticulous, and clean up when finished. We recommend All Star Woodworking, a truly professional company, without reservations.
"Thank you for your kind words, and nothing pleases us more than happy customers. This kitchen started out as a refacing project, but then ended up as all new cabinets. We took the soffits along the ceiling out so that taller wall cabinets could be installed, taking advantage of every inch of space. That left only a few base cabinets--some needed to be slightly reconfigured anyways--so it made sense to fabricate all new cabinets. The customer chose sleek Shaker style cherry cabinetry, which was then complemented with bookmatched and sequenced flat slab doors for the dining room floating buffet. A sophisticated result! Thank you again to our customers for your patronage--it was a pleasure working with you!"
