Jim chose lovely flowering shrubs and trees, but the star of the landscape and our favorite is a weeping Serbian spruce that I have never seen anywhere else in Syracuse. The crew was professional and fast: they planted trees, shrubs, and flowers, built various rock features, mulched all the new plantings, and seeded bare patches in the lawn--all in one day. Jim gave us directions for care and watering, a moisture meter, fertilizer, and extra grass seed. It has now been three years since the work was done, and all the plants are thriving (except for one of the red twig dogwoods, which the deer have eaten). We had to water assiduously for an
entire year because the weather was so dry, and even the second year during dry spells, but with all the moisture this year, all of our plants simply exploded in growth. Our front and side yard look full and lush and the curb appeal of our house has vastly improved. The work was expensive, but we are extremely happy with the results.

My wife and I are the original owners of the home we have lived in for the past 27 years. Most of the original landscaping is also 27 years old. Much of it had gotten overgrown, some of it was diseased. We worked with both Bartlett Tree Experts and Sollecito's to determine which shrubs to remove (and which to prune).
Once the shrubs to be removed were determined, Mr. Sollecito had us fill out a questionnaire asking what we wished to accomplish with the new landscaping. We also went to his nursery to look at photographs of plants and to write down the ones that we particularly liked (not that they would necessarily be in the final plan, but to give Mr. Sollecito an idea of what we "liked" in the way of plants). Mr. Sollecito also came out to our house to look at what we currently had, took many photographs, and asked us what we were hoping to accomplish (we wanted a lot of color, a lot of flowering plants that bloomed during different times of the growing season, some plants to "block" the view of certain things, and other areas opened up to allow a view, and plants easy to trim).
Once we gave Mr. Sollecito our ideas of what we liked and wanted, he drew a comprehensive blueprint that he discussed with us in detail. He also gave us photographs of all the plants he had in his plan so we could see what each would look like. We loved his plan. Once we confirmed that we wanted the work done, Mr. Sollecito coordinated all his work with Bartlett Tree Experts (to remove over 40 old shrubs and grind down the stumps), another company that delivered the dirt and a fourth company that installed the mulch.
A Sollecito team of 3 men worked for 2 days reshaping the land and installing the shrubs and drainage. Mr. Sollecito also visited while the work was being done. Everything went smoothly -- all the subcontractors working with Mr. Sollecito were also punctual and did professional work. Mr. Sollecito also provided me with a lot of instructions on plant care and watering, a watering wand, a moisture meter and a six gallon bucket. Once the shrubs were tentatively put into position, Mr. Sollecito and I inspected what was to go where -- and made several changes and additions to his original plan. I liked this flexibility because it identified some areas where there were too many plants, and some areas where there were not enough plants. It also identified the need for a rock walkway to the front watering faucet -- which was a great idea and addition to the overall plan.
All the work was professionally done and we have some beautiful landscaping that my wife and I will enjoy for years and years!! I highly recommend Mr. Sollecito and his landscaping team.

Our entire experience with Sollecito's was and still is fantastic. Everyone from Jim on down to the guys who come to the house to perform the work are friendly, professional and what someone in the service industry should strive to be. Jim came to my home and surveyed the landscaping in my front yard, and after an hour long conversation came up with the most stunning design for our yard. Sollecito's prices tend to be on the higher side, but I did shop around to a couple of different landscapers and they were all relatively in the same ballpark. The extra money was well worth it, just in the excellent post installation support. Every time I had a question or concern I was able to get an answer in a few hours. I have used them again this year for a spring cleanup, and my opinion of them has not changed in the least. I will definitely use them again in the future, and have recommended them to everyone I know looking for landscaping ideas and or help.

They were excellent. They were on time, very efficient, and very clean. Everything was very neat and clean when they left. They did an outstanding job. Their price was very fair.

Jim Sollicito was very careful in explaining to me what would and what would not work around our new addition and flowing with our existing landscape. He offered many suggestions and was very professional in every aspect of the project. Although somewhat expensive, his work reflects and justifies the price. Our yard was transformed from a mud pit due to the construction to a yard we can be very proud of for many years to come. I would very highly recommend Jim and his crew for any landscaping projects not to mention his wonderful nursery. His whole staff, nursery and landscaping are all very professional and helpful.
