I had hired him to do tile work in my bathroom. In the middle of the job, I asked him if he would use the quarter inch spacers. He got very mouthy and told me to walk away and let him finish it. He also stated “if you want to pay me $1200- I’ll come here and you can tell me how to do it your way and you can teach me.” He refused to use the spacers that I could provide. Some of the gaps are less than a quarter inch and just over three eights of an inch. The plumbing was not done yet and I let him know I would remove the toilet flange so that he could tile around the hole and the flange could be mounted on top of the tile. He assured me that I would have no problems. I asked him to make sure the tiles in that area were level. The toilet rocks back and forth because the floor under it is not level. I’ve had to put filler under the edges of the toilet and let it harden so that it wouldn’t rock and break the toilet flange. Where the glass trim screws against the wall for the glass surround on the shower- he left one of the glass mosaic tiles sticking out so far that there was an 1/8 of an inch gap. I had to grind the tile back so that the aluminum strip could be installed flush against the wall and be sealed correctly. Where the five foot vanity is- I asked him to make sure (I even offered my 6 foot level so that it would go across all of the tile) that the cabinet was completely level in that area so that when the top sat on it- it would be even. He never put a level across them- one leg of the vanity needs to be shimmed so that it sits level. I did ask him if he used a level on each tile. He told me that he would make sure all of the tiles were level by finding the high spot in the room leveling everything to it. He kept telling me to let him do his job and that I would be happy with the outcome. He also told me that most guys would do the job for $500.00 but the job wouldn't be as good.

"Thank you for choosing me to do your shower tile and bathroom floor. I appreciate your business. When the customer contacted me to discuss a couple of minor issues, I explained to him that I would have no problem coming out and fixing any problems that he brought to my attention (as all of my tile work is always warrantied for 5 years). Unfortunately the customer refused my offer to solve the issue, but if he changes his mind at any time I would be more than happy to come out and fix any of the issues that he expressed to me. Once again thank you for your business."

I am so glad we decided to have our tile installed with Smithworks. Jeff was professional and extremely skilled with his tile work. He informed us of the entire process and made sure we were happy each step of the way. He was very easy to work with and helped us achieve the look we were hoping for in our kitchen. He was timely, responsive and cleaned up at the end of each day. We look forward to using Smithworks for our next household project.

Jeff was professional and thorough he did everything as we discussed prior to us hiring him and then some. We had conversations before he started the job making sure all supplies were purchased. He was on time, very cautious of my hardwood floors in my hall, clean and put up with my children wanting to help and talking to him. He accommodated our schedule and came early to finish the job. His work and professionalism is top notch. We would definitely use Jeff again and recommend him to our friends and family!

I am an out of town landlord with several older apartments. I have worked with many contractors and handymen over the last 20 years and can finally say I have found a company I feel totally comfortable with. Jeff and Greg are by far the most impressive duo I have had the luck of running into. They specialize in tiling and plumbing and updated three bathrooms and a kitchen for me. But they have also handled almost any other odd job I asked them to do.  Besides being professional, Jeff and Greg are also honest, efficient, and are extremely hard workers. They give you a schedule and actually stick to it (very refreshing!). Jeff did a great job of keeping me informed, listening to what I wanted, and was very flexible along the way. We ran into several problems working in "this old house", which were frustrating at times, to say the least. They stuck with me though, which I am not sure others would have done, at least not without a lot of price gouging! They take pride in their work and do things the right way ( instead of doing a  "cob job", just to get in and out -with your money!).  I truly feel that Jeff and Greg have my best inteests at heart. Although I do have family in town, I know I won't ever have to rely on or bother them again when things go wrong. I now have a trustworthy and reliable solution!!! Last but not least, Smithworks Contracting  prices are reasonable. I was able to afford to do the things that needed attention. My apartments are now updated, solid, and look great. I give Smithworks Contracting an A++ in ALL areas! Thank you so much Jeff and Greg.
