"As it has been some time since this complaint was originally posted, I will do my best to recount the details of this project. I would like it to be know that this customer hired us over numerous years for different projects including a stamped concrete patio, installing an indoor sauna, deck cleaning/sealing and some deck repair. Typically, when a customer is not satisfied with the work that has been performed at their house they do not contract a company to perform more. I state this as evidence that although their expectations could not be met , it is in no way a reflection of our workmanship or professionalism. Furthermore, I placed pictures of their project on my website in order to detail what I believed to be a quality job given the parameters set by them and the existing structure we had to work with. I not only worked with this customer on our labor price, I also allowed them to use my discount on all materials. I state this because it seemed that saving money by using the existing framework was of the utmost importance. Negotiating me down in price seemed to be the standard procedure with this customer. The stamped concrete patio that was done sometime in 2008 and was prepped by the customer in order to save money. There was no stone used, and nothing was compacted to industry standards. The concrete was poured over dirt. He understood that we would be pouring the concrete only, and that it would be stamped and sealed by us. Any failure or cracking of the pad due to improper sub structure would not be our responsibility. The person that helped install the stampcrete, (that they refer to as "subbed") was my business partner and friend with whom I have performed numerous, successful, decorative concrete projects with. All of the work that was done at this location was done to industry standards despite what the customer may claim. The customer was verbally abusive to me and my employees, at one point screaming at me to "shut the f*** up" over the phone only to call back to apologize. Because he is in the same industry, he felt he knew more than we did. Time delays were due to many unforeseen issues including whether and changes made by the owner. We communicated with the owner on a daily basis, and even though every effort was put forth to satisfy this customer, I believe this would not have been impossible."
- We used him for our siding and our kitchen, he never came to work on the siding job, he subbed it out and never showed up for one day of the work. The guys he used never put down tarps so nails are everywhere in our yard and driveway along with little pieces of siding (sharp aluminum pieces), also small pieces of wood that they cut and left in the lawn. Where they replaced a door with a window they did not use pressure treated wood and snow and water come in. They put one window down too low. They replaced a door in the kitchen and wind blows through it. They took way too long.
- When we spoke about the kitchen he was to remove and replace all sheetrock, he didn't, he put holes everywhere to do the electrical then never finished the ones that are behind the cabinets. He never painted behind the cabinets before putting them up. There are many imperfections in the walls you can still see that could not be fixed. All the outlets are at different hieghts. The molding around the base cabinets was painted after it was put up so you can clearly see there is no pain near the floor . We asked that it be painted in semi gloss along with the molding around the window and door, he told us it did not need to be painted in semi gloss. The base molding was also cut wrong and had to be redone by someone else, we had to buy and repaint it all. Instead of removing the old plywood floor he went over it and now there is a 5/8 inch difference in the transition. He covered our cold air return and told us we did not need one. He broke several pieces of tile because he did not use a wet saw, he was going to use the broken pieces for under the base cabinets becasue you would not see the floor once the cabinets were in. He also installed the new floor before sanding the sheetrock(sanding took over 4 weeks) and all the sheetrock dust was ground into the grout of our new floor becasue he did not seal it. He used our shop vac and ruined it. He put 4 nails through one of our new cabinets, he aslo broke a corner cabinet that we had to remove and replace. A nail split the molding around the window and he just painted over it. He put the plumbing in the wrong place for the sink that had to be moved, and also cut 2 holes in the ceiling in the wrong place for the lights. We wanted 6 lights he only put in 4. He crushed our dryer vent and never replaced it. He was in our kitchen that is 12 by 12 with 2 other guys for over 6 weeks and still was not close to being done. The list could go on and on, We aslo spoke with another customer that used him and it was all the same at his house and restaurant, things were done wrong or not at all, it took way too long because he only works 2 or 3 hours a day, he could not believe people are still hiring him for work. We would never, ever use him again. Please see attached pictures.
"Due to ongoing legal actions to collect $7000 that is still owed to my company by this customer I do not wish to rehash the details of this project. However, I will add that every complaint that this customer has Is untrue and misleading. The customer has posted pictures of a project in its early stages, and has no pictures of the completed project. It was at this point they decided to keep my final payment for labor and materials that was promised. All practices met or exceeded industry standards. All attempts where made unsuccessfully to satisfy this customer."
