Potter-Perrone Heating and Plumbing is the only woman owned business in New York state that is 8A certified in heating and air conditioning with the federal government. Owner, Suzanna Konda-DeFuria, was the first woman to serve as President of the Syracuse Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors Association. Suzanne has proudly served as President for four years. Our company installs the BRYANT line of quality HVAC products and over the years has grown to become one of Bryant’s Premier Dealers. I was very pleased with this company. Jason, the person who made the original estimate and performed the work, was knowledgeable and efficient. He explained everything that would be done and did a couple of extra things with the plumbing. This company charged far less than the other two that gave me estimates and was the only one that said the plumbing for the downstairs bathroom could be done through the basement floor rather than cutting into the dining room wall.

My AC sprung a leak late Sunday night (I was able to just turn the unit off and sweat it out for the night!) and the service tech was there by 8:30 Monday morning. When I called the following week for the hot water tank fix they were able to come that very day! Both service techs were knowledgeable and professional. I will definitely be contacting them in the fall to have my furnace cleaned!

These people screwed me over. Do not hire!! Their tech left a bleed valve open on a radiator. It leaked for four days while I was out of town. I came back to find paint sloughing off the walls of the room under the leak, original 1918 woodwork warped, ceiling and walls wet and full of mold. I called the guy back from potter and he saw what had happened and said, did I leave that valve open? I'm so sorry. We had a talk about how I hoped he wouldn't lose his job. My contactor and insurance adjuster agreed that the damage was $9500. My insurance covered all buy deductible, thanks travelers! But I'm left 1k out of pocket. My insurance asked theirs to compensate and Potter said no, that we have no evidence it was their fault and that my conversation with the guy was only hearsay. They know what happened and they are in the wrong. All I can do is warn others about them and that a company having insurance doesn't mean they will use it fairly. I can't believe business owners could be so unethical. I still hope the worker did not lose his job.

Great! The repair person showed up exactly at the scheduled time and completed the installation (removal of old sink and pipes, addition of new sink and pipes) within three hours. I've hired Potter/Perrone for work before and they always do a terrific job. I definitely recommend them to anyone needing home heating, air conditioning, or plumbing work!

I had countless issues with the work performed by Potter/Perrone. The work dragged out over months, their quality is sub par, and staff is EXTREMELY unprofessional. When I called to talk to a manager regarding my issues, he stated "you are just one of those Hillary Clinton types who have work done and don't expect to pay anything". I would never refer Potter/Perrone and hope that this sways you to use another service.

I placed my original call to the company at 7:45am and explained my situation to a woman over the phone.  She set me up for a service appointment between the hours of 1pm and 3pm.  At 3pm, after not hearing from the company or technician, I called back and was told by a female staff member that they were very busy and that she would take my information.  Having taken time off from work to be available for their technician, I asked simply for a courtesy call to let me know the person was running late...I'm fully conscious of how things can take longer than anticipated but communication is important.  After not hearing back from anyone at the company, I called again at 4:55pm and spoke with a man who seemed to have no idea about my service appointment and again took all my information down.  He said it would put it in as an emergency, even after I explained that I had already had an appointment.  To my surprise I was contacted withing 15 minutes but someone who said the rate would be in excess of $180 per hour for him to come and look at my hot water heater that evening.  Then, at 5:45pm, I received another call from someone at the organization that they were on their way.  After an hour of taking apart the burner assembly, and hearing him on the phone calling local hardware stores, I was informed that their was nothing that could be done since my thermocouple has left hand threading.  I understand this is unique and not the technician's fault, and thanked him for his time.  He said someone from the office would call me in the morning.  I received a call this morning telling me that I should look to buy the part online and that was the resolution.  So, while I'm sure many people have had good experiences with this company, suffice it to say that mine was decidedly not.  I have also read the company response to other reviews indicating that they always tell their customer what their price per hour and service fees are, however that definitely did not happen for me and as a result I have no idea what the total bill will actually be.

I have used Potter Perrone in the past and was pleased with their work.  I intended to replace my furnace and AC unit in the Spring 2015 and had Potter Perrone provide an estimate.  During the holiday season, my furnace stopped working.  I had Potter Perrone install the new furnace and AC coil.  The installation went well but I was left with a bit of a mess and there was some damage to the walls.  One hose was not replaced (for the up pump) and it leaked necessitating an emergency service call.  I felt the service call could have been avoided if the hose was simply replaced as it should have been.  This spring, Potter Perrone came out and installed a water back up system for my sub pump and then the AC unit.  I am pleased with the equipment, but once again I felt the mess left for me was excessive.  I have a very expensive piece of exercise equipment in my basement that I was not instructed to move and/or cover.  I did not anticipate the dust, muddy shoe prints, etc. that would be left behind.  Also following all three projects, there were sharp metal pieces left on the floor as well as other debris from the installation.

The provider replaced a hot air propane furnace that they installed in 1998 with a new Carrier propane furnace.  We also have central air conditioning they installed in 2002.  After the new furnace installation, the fan on the air conditioner kept cycling on and off. We called them to come take a look and the service person told us they had wired it wrong and fixed the problem  The fan stopped cycling.  This past week we attempted to use the air conditioner for the first time and it wouldn't come on.  We called them to come back and the service technician said it was a very poor wiring job, asked if I had done it myself, which my wife said no it was your company.  He re-wired everything and the air conditioner works, but now the fan keeps recycling on and off again.  We have turned off both the heat and cooling at the thermostat and the fan still keeps cycling on and off.  It has been doing it all night and we now smell an ozone smell down cellar and are worried about something burning out.  I called to have them come back today and they said they are booked until Monday.  I told them this can't wait until Monday and want them here today.  The lady that answers their phone said she would speak with the service manager and call me back.  She called back and said that their general manager doesn't think they are capable of satisfying us and that we should call someone else.  They won't come back.

I had them install a new furnace and hot water system for my son at his business. They supplied the unit but we discussed what was going to be installed. The whole package with repairs that were necessary was $6000. I like their quality of service, their reasonable prices and they are very responsive. I got a warranty with the unit.

SETTING THE STANDARDS IN GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I contacted Potter Heating about a broken boiler (winter temps below 0 and a sick elderly father in the household) after getting no response from another HVAC provider.


I should have called them FIRST.  The operator handling the call was concerned, empathetic, responsive, and very professional.   The boiler repairman was not immediately available, but Potter called 3 times throughout the day with updates as to when the repairman would arrive.  This meant a GREAT deal and gave us confidence the problem would be resolved.


The repairman and asst. were prompt, professional, courteous, knowledgeable and SKILLED..   Even nice to our new puppy :)  

The charges were very reasonable and fair.    Have been recommending Potter heating to everyone I know.  Thank you, Potter.

Mark called as he was on his way and then again as the GPS told him wrongly where the house was located.  He worked very efficiently through all the vagaries of our old and weird house.  I was very happy that he cleaned up everything and best of all tested the system very thoroughly.  I KNEW before he left that there would be no problems.   It was a pleasure watching someone strive for quality in all the little things as well as the big ones.  I am extremely pleased.
